My friends all chase my chickens when they want to hold them
It's like 'oh come here chicken!' *chases them away*

Also, people pick up my cat, hold him like a baby and bounce him up and down.

I have no problem with people holding him like a baby (he doesn't seem to mind either) but as soon as people treat him like a baby and get all up in his face and bounce him ect. he gets really nervous.

It really irritates me when people manhandle my ball python. Like come on, what did I just tell you? He's not a toy. No, he won't bite you (unless you hurt or scare him), no, he is not going to strangle me in my sleep, and no, I do not want you to beat him with a stick! What is wrong with people?

I don't want to have to fight with people about why I have a snake, and if it's legal. Of course it's legal. He's harmless? Not like he's a problem, he's friendly anyway. Jeez.

In public? you're going to run into that and worse on a daily basis. its terrible, but thats likely whats going to happen unless you live in a tiny town or something and everyone knows about it.

I have a grumpy cat.
My cat does not like small children.
To make matters worse, when small children come around they yell in really loud voices and chase my cat around,
then try to feed her 80000 treats and pet her and grab at her fur.
When i tell them "no" they still try to play with my cat even though she's clearly scared and does not like strangers.

Oooh, I could rant for hours in a thread like this.
I currently have a couple of pets, and my constant problem is people telling me I'm not training them right.

But (TV show they like) said you should do (thing they insist upon)!
You can take your TV show advice, and use it on your own pets if you want to. But understand that every single pet is another animal that may require other types of training to get positive results. Every pet has other experiences, other memories, other fears, likes, and dislikes. I'm so glad that some guy on TV gave you advice that helped you control your animal, but that doesn't mean the same process works for everyone. Why do you think you know more about my animal than I do? Are you raising it? Are you the one spending every minute of your day with the animal? No? Then buzz away, don't force it on me.

Lets make something clear. My pets are fed regularly, they're given water upon need, they have their own beds, pillows, toys, and they get regular walks and training. Should they ever be sick, I'm more than willing to take them to the vet immediately to have their health checked up on. How ever, I am a strict pet owner. I do not hit my pets, but no always means no. I have this annoying neighbour who insists I'm abusing my animals if I ever raise my voice around them. I will never go on shouting around my animals for hours, but one of my dogs has bad hearing. If I want it to hear me, I can't be quiet with my commands. I use simple and quick commands with him, such as "NO", "STOP", "SIT", "COME", and so on. Because I use it with one of my dogs, I got into the habbit of using that tone with all of my animals. When ever she sees me calling my dog over, despite the fact he can hardly hear me even then, she goes off on a rant about how I'm abusing animals. She reported me once, but other neighbors and my vet were willing to confirm that my dog has hearing issues, and that I'm not actually taking my frustration out on my pets by being noisy. No lady, calling my dog over is not abuse. You don't need to immediately stand between me and my dog if I happen to want to put him back on a leash so i can take him home.

Your dog can't hear well? Let me just bring a horn to honk because scaring it will be soooo funny!
Had a friend who tried this once. Once. Said person has never been allowed into my home after that, nor anywhere near my animals. What could possibly make anyone think doing this is appropriate?

No. This is not okay. This is never okay. I have so many parents in my area who don't watch what their children are doing. The parents themselves will be talking on the phone, and their kid comes over to tug on my dog's ears, and tail, and whiskers. Even worse, some parents dont bother asking if the dog is friendly. All of mine are well trained, but imagine if they were not? Some parents just see the dogs and say "Aww, look, lets go touch it!"

Not one of my animals is agressive. All of them are well trained, and my cat listens to me the same way my dogs do. It walks on and off a leash, and returns when it's called over. Not one is harmful, but some are afraid of people. They never give agressive responces, but I don't want someone's child (or an irresponsible adult) running after my animals and scaring them. I keep telling people my animals are agressive, bite, or dislike children, just to keep them from pushing their hands into my animal's faces. Just stahp. Animals need space too. D:

While the location obviously wont be given up, I live in a decent home with a high fence. My animals never make noise just because someone is making their way past the fence. They generally just ignore it and laze around. But if you approach the gate itself, or attempt to come inside, of course they'll swarm around you and bark. There's a bell for you to ring for a reason. It's a big, clearly visible button. I don't plan to stop this behavior, I'm not going to teach my dogs to let people come inside as they please. The idea of having dogs roaming around freely in a fenced environment is partially to make sure people don't steal my stuff. Why would I teach my animals to welcome someone who's potentially going to take my TV, or computer, or money?

They're defending their homes, potentially lives, and my property -- maybe even my life too.
This is their instinct, and it's a job I'm glad to have them doing. There are plenty of warnings on the fence, reminders to ring the bell, and the bell itself was made in a fluroscent color to make it easy to see. If you ignore all of this and then get annoyed because the dogs made some noise, it's your own fault.

so I can start a story on all my pets, some i don't even own, lol.

I have this cat, sort-of... he's my neighbor's cat, but she doesn't feed him, or take care of him, so I feed, and water him all the time for probably like 6 months now, so he in MY opinion, is mine, lol. he's a really old cat though, I think he's probably easily like 16 or so years old... but every freaking time he's over here eating, she gets all bent out of shape, and picks him up and takes him away, and on my lord, she just throws him everywhere, like he's a ragdoll. HE'S NOT OK, he's old and fragile. yeah I know it's her cat, but seriously, I don't care. do you REALLY have to take him away while he's EATING ? you sure don't feed him. -_-

now onto my three cats I own.

I have a big 30 lb cat, she's really sweet and lazy and just wants to lay around with everyone, and be pet on. complicated cat right ? -_- my stupid lil cousin, every time she comes over, HANGS on my cat, chases her around, LAYS on her, gets right in her face, & pokes at her, and then all of the sudden... maddy(my cat.) gets sick of the lil demon, and either bit her ONCE 'cause she was laying on her, or growls, or hits her, she's de-clawed, so it doesn't hurt, and then...maddy is a HORRIBLE animal, how dare she ! -- I have another rant for maddy, for some reason, she's REALLY attached to my mother, and always wants to sit with her, or near her, or have her pet her. apparently that's horrible, and how dare this cat be a cat, and want to sit with you or be pet on. so my mother will literally, throw her off the couch, chairs, or kick her off. sits here and screams at her, and carries on like a maniac, 'cause my cat wants to sit with her. seriously, can you not ? but you just adore a bratty, screaming, tamper throwing kid... right... *headache.*

onto my next rant... I have another cat, whose probably about 7-8 years old, and he's sooo skittish and scared. I'm not POSITIVE, but almost 98% sure he was really horribly abused in his last home, not by his owner, but her boyfriend, 'cause the boyfriend hated cats. so it took a good... three years ? for him to adjust to ME & my family... and he's still terrified of everybody new that comes in... so... my cousin, whose like 19 at the time, we went on a trip for a week, and she was going to feed and water, and clean the box since I was drug against my will. come to find out, chewy(cat) being chewy, hid every time she came over, simply 'cause he's scared of strangers, she apparently CHASED MY CAT around the house, and chased him under the bed, and threw stuff at him under the bed, & yelled for him to come out. -_- oh my god, if... I wanted to hurt her. why would you do that ? YOU OWN A CAT, you don't chase him ! he's scared of his own freaking shadow. nope... i'mma chase him around... and so does my younger cousin. but since he hissed at her, she now will run up at him, scare the crap outta him, and then run and cry, 'cause ya know... he's a bad cat too... figures, my mother is all, what a horrible cat.

and the last, youngest cat, he's about 4 or so i'd say... he's really attached to my sister, dunno why, but she's like... hated the poor guy since we got him. we found him in a bush when he was a few weeks old, and we weren't going to keep him,but i talked my mother into it. she wanted to get rid of him SOO bad... really ? why ? it's not like i ask you to DO anything for them... but he's attached to her, and she's STILL, soo mean to him. she calls him names, and yells at him, and tosses him around, but the poor guy keeps coming back, and I have no idea why. it's so sad.. to add to that, he's NOT de-clawed like my other two, so he scratches. but my mom complains when I ask to help trim his nails, or get him other things TO scratch on. so she wants to chop his toes off, 'cause that seems like a good option.

recently I inherited some fish, from the same little cousin, whose mother wanted to flush live fish down the toilet, so they're mine now... the annoying pest of a kid comes over, and i was turning their tank light off, 'cause them and the frog seemed to enjoy it more. but what do i see when i get up ? over there flipping the light, on & off, on & off. so i tell her to stop, and she does, for like 10 minutes, and I come back out, back doing it, and hitting the side of the tank...

mini rant about ALL of my pets together. i'm old enough to have a job, yet... my mother won't let me get one, so i still have to rely on her to buy my pets their food, litter, and everything needed for the fish... she complains, ALL the time, that I ask for ONE thing for them. ANYTHING at all. i need litter, huffs, puffs, complains, expresses how much she hates them. food, sorry, I don't wanna feed my cats dead animals, disease filled animals, to my cats, so yah, they're foods a bit expensive, but it last for probably a month. $25.99 or so... what's the big freaking deal ? i cannot WAIT to be 18... -_-

kinda get annoyed at people who chat and make me look after there dog

i don't mind if it's onlead but i can't handle two off lead dogs with different training,my dog has commands and listens well and he is who i should think about frist , telling me i "should have pulled your dog away" from a dirty diper isn't what i Should do at all.

i know the person and i love to hang out with them and there dog but it annoys me how much they relie on me sometimes when i have my own dog to think about

Things about my cats/my friends cat
My friend will come over and hold one of my cats and I'm like aww so cute! But then she drops him/her and it's really sad! I wish I could yell at her STOP RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
She also kicks her cat and her dog and it's really rude how she calls her dog stupid and she tries to feed it chocolate to make it DIE! She also hits it and slaps it when she first got it was really sweet but now it is VERY AGRESSIVE all because of her. She also tries to make me feed my dog CHOCOLATE but I love my dog and I always say NO WAY!
Ok and now for my DAD he will drop our cats about a foot in the air to our hardwood FLOOR! Now that is abuse. He also kicks them aside out of his way with his shoes just to get where he wants instead of just stepping over them. Last thing... I have a chameleon on my dresser (my parents won't let me put her anywhere else) and my dad just slams my dresser drawers and then my chameleon gets really scared . Some of these things are like abuse. My friend wanted this cat we had for sale (my mom breeds them) and I secretly told my mom that she kicks and hits her own cat so I would never let her have one of our adorable Persians! This is just so sad

Everyone remember this:
If you were that animal would you like what you were doing to it?
Say you are a big dog and someone just comes up to you and sits on your back and slaps you so you will start moving, would you like that? I bet not so don't do it to the poor dog!
Say you are a cat and someone sits down next to you and pets you gently, would you like that? Of course so you can do that to any cat that you are sure is not feral.
Remember this and you could make any pet feel better. This can stop animal abuse that happens on accident. Please remember this and make a animals life not abusive. This thread was to talk about things you hate people do to your pets so all of this bad stuff you should never do to a poor animal. They may sometimes seem happy but they could be terribly sad. I believe everyone here supports animal rights and not kill shelters! Thank you.
