So, long story short no details, how do you register a service dog for something such as a psychological or emotional disorder? I read up on it and quite a few things said that you have to be prescribed by a doctor, and have medication being given to you for it to work...
The thing is, what i've got, it's not clinical, so i'm not being prescribed medication for it, if there is any at all. But it's still bad enough that i'd need a service dog or something (there is another name for it but i've forgotton it).
Any ideas? Thanks.

As someone who suffers from several mental illnesses, is on 3 medications, sees 3 counsellors, would greatly benefit from a PSD like you are describing, and lives in the same province as you, I'm here to tell you you can't do it. PSD aren't recognized in BC, the only form of them recognized are PTSD dogs for veterans only (again, as someone who suffers from PTSD, I'm telling you, you can't get one). In BC you can't just "register" your dog as a service dog. You need to qualify for and apply for a service dog from an ADI approved organization that they choose and train for you. Even if you didn't live in BC you can't just "register" your dog as a service dog. The dog needs to be trained to dog several tasks for you that you wouldn't be able to do for yourself. Trust me, I've done the research, since a dog for my PTSD and panic attacks would be so much better than living the miserable existence I currently have.

Sorry for the late reply! If he's super comfortable with the crate with you around I'd just skip right to step 3 or maaaaybe 4. :)
Throw those hooves right over my shoulders
Cause I seen the way you look at me, doefriend, when you smoulder
Come here, queer deer, and shake that thing around
Cause you get me so high that I gotta go down

Ah, that sucks then. Thanks for letting me know. It's a real shame that they don't allow that, kinda dumb too. I'd rather not suffer a panic attack in the middle of wherever I'm at if my dog could assist me...
Alright, well thanks again for the info.

My mom & I will likely be moving next year sometime from SoCal (a bit nervous moving with the animals, but hopefully we can drive), and there's this town called Fort Collins in Colorado.. Seriously thinking of moving there. I've always wanted to live somewhere with some seasons, seeing as Cali has none. But I don't want to deal with the extremes on the East Coast (I love snow but not prepared for what the East coast deals with), plus it's just so far.

Anyways, the reason I'm posting this in a dog thread... This town is just so awesome for dogs. I just know Rylee and especially Koda would LOVE it. They have this annual pooch plunge every summer, where everyone in the town can bring their dogs to the local pool/water park, to meet other dogs and cool off. I just think that's so neat. They also have tons of bike trails, hiking trails and parks... One dog park in particular has a nice sized lake in the middle for dog-use only :) While researching the place has even been dubbed as the "dog town" by some because it seems everyone there owns one.

It seems pretty awesome for people too of course - lots of stores, amenities and activities to do... It just sounds like a dream town for a dog-obsessed and outdoorsy type like me. Where I live now, I've just never gotten to experience much with my dogs and it sucks... Aside from a few trips to the beach.

If you don't want to deal with extremes, Colorado is probably not the best place for you! I used to live in a little town just south of Fort Collins. The winters are very cold, and the summers are very hot. Spring and fall are virtually nonexistent.

Now, if that doesn't bother you, Colorado is amazing! My dogs LOVE it there, and I would go back in a heartbeat if I could afford the cost of living.

I don't mind hotter summers at all (as long as we aren't talking triple digits weeks on end)... I actually lived in Texas for two years, so you can't get much worse than that xD and lately in Cali with the drought and all we've had weather in the 80s and 90s. It's finally starting to cool down now with Fall. I definitely don't mind cold weather or snow either, it'd actually be great to finally have some during the winter months, I just don't want to wait months for said snow to melt. People on the east coast probably think Colorado's winters are mild. Mountains are always a plus, too. :P

Of course, nothing is set in stone; we still need to visit a few times to see what everything's like in person, but I just know my dogs and I would have a lot more to do in CO... I mean a state that's said to have "gone to the dogs" is certainly appealing.

California has a lot of great things about it don't get me wrong, but it's just so dang expensive... Everywhere. And around where I live there aren't any interesting hiking or bike trails to walk the dogs. The closest lake is about an hour away. There isn't a single dog park... I just think some change would do us all a lot of good, and if everything works out I'm really looking forward to it.

Lupen: I'm in SoCal as well so I know a few dog parks and even some dog beaches. There's a list of SoCal dog friendly places somewhere, mobile so I can't get my bookmarks. But off the top of my head Huntington Beach dog beach is pretty awesome. It's a bit of a drive but it's worth it if your dog loves water.

Yeah.. Sadly Huntington Beach is two and a half hours away lol. Other nice dog parks are at the minimum an hour drive.

We have a few off leash areas in the surrounding cities but nothing that interesting... Most are just open lawn spaces with no fences that people like to call a dog park. The beach in our town doesn't even allow dogs, but people bring theirs there anyways as it gets later in the day.

Take your dog to a vet.

Move to PA :V I'm lonely and need dog friends!

I'm uh, going to warn you. Colorado is right in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. That means snow. Lots and lots and lots of snow. PA hugs the east coast and is north, but I don't get NEARLY as much snow nor do I get the bitter colds that Colorado gets. The east coast really doesn't get hit nearly as hard as you're thinking unless you are pretty far north or in the mountains. I won't be able to reach Creed's breeder in Vermont from the first time snow falls all the way to likely April or May if not later... but that's 6 hours of highway driving north of us and in the middle of a bunch of mountains. Meanwhile here yes it's more snow than SoCal gets but it's really nothing much. This past winter was bad, and this coming winter is supposed to be bad, but the one before it we got like 3 inches all winter where I am... Mostly just rain, not even freezing rain. The winter before that we had a dusting in October and a foot in March and the rest was all just rain.
