So in February my parents gave me the okay to adopt a dog from a shelter!
I'm so excited but I also worry if I get a dog I can't handle, or if the dog has issues
that we can't fix. So I wanted some advice from adopting from a shelter.
Also some breed recommendations and of course mixed breeds!
My family is a normal family not couch potatoes, not completely active just average
I guess you can say. We go camping at least once a month if not more, we have a boat
so a lot of time on the water, and we like to go walking and hiking.
I would also prefer a dog that loves to play and I would love to have a dog that is smart,
easy to train and will want to do agility or another dog sport!

Thanks for all answers!

@Midnight
Congratulations on 2nd place! Chewie's adorable, love the bandana. I need to get around to making a couple for Kora, she only has a red one right now and it's getting sort of gross. ^.^

I've noticed a bald patch on Kora's leg lately. It's not super red and hot feeling, but she doesn't really like you touching it. She's been licking almost nonstop at it, so I'm worried it might develop into a hotspot. We put some anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory cream on it (think it was Thermaderm or something?) and some bitter apple spray, though it doesn't seem to stop her from licking it. We can't find her cone so we might pick another one up tomorrow. I was wondering if any of you knew a better way to prevent them from licking it? Or a faster way to treat it? The cone works somewhat, but the poor girl crashes into things all the time with it on. :c
previously luminescent., just decided to change it up a bit! ^.^if you get the reference, you're a fantastic human c:

Thank you! I think Baze would have won if the prize wasn't a $50 gift certificate to the boarding place. (Rats can't board there, and I didn't get to take Princess so I guess they didn't know if I had a pup)

Chewie looks so cute in his bandana! I'm going to have to start buying them for him, I didn't know he would be so cute lol

What did you dress your rat as, if I may ask? XD
Chewie looks super adorable in his bandanna. <3

Eek Deebee has finally recovered from his allergy scratch wounds(still healing a bit but he looks much better and doesn't scratch anymore) and now Eva seems to have a bit of an issue with one of her eyes. /: There's some discharge and she is squinting that eye, which also looks kinda swollen. We have her separated from the other dogs and are washing up before handling the others after her for now in case it is contagious, and if she doesn't improve in a day or so we'll be bringing her to the vet to see what's up. He was a steampunk gentleman! It was beyond adorable.

Poor Princess didn't get to go because her rabies tag had ran out without us noticing.

My dog had the same problem. Another way to stop them licking is to get an old long sleeved shirts and button it up on their back if the spot is on their front leg. (Cut off the arm of the shirt on the leg that isn't infected)

Hey guys! I own two dogs right now, a female Shiba Inu named Shadow, and a male Golden Retriever named Rusty. Rusty will be turning 12 in a few days, on the 28th!
I also rescued a lost dog on Tuesday. Poor baby has been very obviously abused at some point in his life. So far, nobody has posted on Craigslist, Facebook, or hung any signs around looking for him. We had one person claim to be his owner, but he very obviously was not. I am calling the little guy Daryl. He is the sweetest little guy ever, and if we can't find Daryl's real owner, we will be adopting him.

I have a dog. Her name is Abby. She is about 12. I love her with all my heart. She is my favorite animal ever. I know she probably have 2 years left and it makes me want to cry just thinking about losing her. I hope her life has been wonderful. She makes mine a little better just by being here. She is a female chihuahua. Here's my baby.

Just a few weeks ago, you wanted
