As long as you feel you can be 110% responsible then I don't see the point of altering. It is your choice though, but I would try to wait until 2ish. Unless a vet in your area will be an ovary sparing spay where they remove the uterus but leave the ovary's so the body is still exposed to the hormones without the chance of a pregnancy. I've heard they still go into heat, but not one nearly as bad as a fully intact
If she can still go into heat would it still attract male dogs/ make her want to search for a male dog?
Because that's the main reason why I would want to fix a female dog
Our neighbours female jumped their fence and escaped to find a male dog when she was in heat, she actually climbed out of a 8-10 foot high enclosure
