Fuzzy: Can you link me to the video?

~~~
Last night we had an awful storm and she was up being very noisy and restless from 2-5am and the whole time she was going up and down stairs, hopped in and out the bathtub, started chewing on a tampon (in the tub) walked into my parent's room, on and off my bed/couch/recliner/me, oh and was whining or barking the whole time. And now she is just being needy...I need a run. I kno I shouldn't be mad at her for going ballistic when it storms, but when it is that early nothing calms her down, and I have to get up early the next day it is hard to stay calm. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help with the fear?
It is supposed to storm again the next two night so I can try stuffing her face with all things yummy once the lightning lights up the room (she isn't scared of the thunder, but more of the flash of lightning), any other tips or tricks?
@Bluebird22: I read once that you shouldn't give your dog some nice treats, you should just ignore him because she will learn that if she is frightend of something she'll get treats. And maybe you can put her in a darker room where the lighting isn't that bright, or make her some kind of cave where she can hide in?
I will get my dog next week on saturday >w<
I'm so happy!
Do any of you have an idea for awesome tricks?
The best thing for fear is generally to give loads of yummy awesome things. Fear is so negative you can not reinforce it, only change the emotional response. Getting awesome things will change the underlying emotional response. :)
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe
He is a handsome boy, congrats <3
I should be having my house visit next week, hopefully it will go smoothly, then little Waggles will be able to fly over here to the UK!
When you say tricks, do you mean tricks to teach him?
Sit up is a lovely trick once mastered, although some dogs aren't able to do it because of their back. Bow is also pretty nice. Our GSD knew bow, and we got him to bow to family when they came over.
I chose not to teach Clemmy sit up as I suspected her hips were HD. I did, however, teach her to put both front paws up on my arm while I was kneeling. Sorta the same but she was able to put as much weight as she wanted/needed on my arm and it was never for a prolonged amount of time.
Lolita (chihuahua/dachshund), on the other hand, used to sit up all the time though we called it bunnying. Self-taught trick and she did it for attention and to ask to be picked up. She can't do it anymore though cause of her weight, bad knee and arthritis.
There's a website, called Doggiebuddy I believe. (It's pretty easy to find if you search '52 dog tricks'). It has a list of 52 different tricks you can teach your dog, along with training methods. There are some pretty difficult ones and a few cute ones. There's also a couple like 'bring you a tissue' trick.
My dogs picked up the tissues but ended up ripping them apart XD
Went home this past weekend and spent some time with my old boy. Sorry for the bad quality pic...took it on my phone, which is always a hit or miss.
He's starting to show his years now. I get sentimental like this whenever my dogs start to (show signs of) age: All the time I've spent with them thus far is a blessing, but at the same time, it saddens me to see the effects of age reign down on them when I can so clearly remember them in their prime. Though my Asian spitz dogs age much more gracefully than my Western-breed dogs.
That being said, I still have a lot of time left with this old man before I can allow myself to be more sentimental. :P
He is gorgeous and honestly does not look his age <3
I think with the Japanese Akita Inu being such an older and primitive breed, I'm sure it's why they seem to age so gracefully.
I cannot wait to have one, my heart breed right there <33
