@Serenade, yeah we did lol.

To me, kids < pets. Because I hate children.

@Jazi, I have friends and family who would NEVER let any of my animals end up in a shelter and would take them if I died or something. I am going to eventually try to get everything officially set in stone of who would take who and if they couldn't who would, etc.

In real life I have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rabbits, 26 rats, 2 gerbils, 2 cockroaches, 1 turtle, 1 axolotl, and 8 fish.

@Fuzzy: That's the thing, life changes. You can not be sure of what is going to happen tomorrow, the next day, next month or in the next years. For all you know your family's financial situation could chance and you couldn't afford the pets you have.
And as the others have said, animals are people are not equal.

Yes, yes, very much so. I'm pretty sure this whole thing is almost word for word the same.

Just remember Fuzzy, when push comes to shove, not everyone will honor their word.

As I've said a billion times, to me animals and people are equal. I honestly hold animals of higher value than people. That's my opinion. It's not a FACT that people are better. Not at all.

@Jazi, also, all my family and friends know the animals have breeder contracts and these people would NEVER let me down. If anything happened to my grandparents, I am set to take Addie. And I would NEVER let that dog go to a shelter. I'd die before I let that happen. I would take that dog in a heartbeat, no matter the situation.

Good for you. Not everyone feels that way. I know what it feels like to be put in last place by the people who are supposed to have you as their first priority. I know what it feels like to be betrayed by them. I know what it feels like for some new person to come into their life and all of a sudden they want nothing to do with you even though you thought of them as your mother. My children will always come first no matter what. To the best of my ability, I will never allow the crap that happened to me happen to them. I will not put a dog (or any animal) over my own flesh and blood no matter how much I love that animal.

you'd honestly die before you'd let a dog go to a shelter?
      you would rather be murdered?
      you'd rather drowned?
okay then, good for you, but i honestly think you are just going too far.
you can't always take a dog in. what if you lived in apartments where they didn't allow pets? you'd go against their rules?

Better? No. But dogs are not the same as us and do not have the same rights or the same really anything as us.

You would take Addie even if you had no job or place to live, if you had a landlord that said absolutely not to taking in any more pets, if you could not afford another dog?

Money does not grow on trees. Neither do landlords of HoAs that allow so many animals. As said before, you will discover that these things are not so much black and white. There ARE legitimate reasons to no longer have an animal and there ARE cases of these things falling through when things get messy. In the case of the breeder who died, her son had agreed to take in her dogs. Her dogs are now in the hands of others, because he decided he didn't actually want to do that as soon as it became obvious that's what he had to do.

There are absolutely no guarantees in life. If there were, there'd be a lot less dogs in shelters.

To me, my animals are like my own flesh and blood. I will never have kids because I am too afraid they will fall into all of the same crap I have, so I don't even need to worry about that.

Yes, I would. I love this dog with ALL of my heart and would do anything for her, and she's not even my dog. I'd fight to the death for this dog.
Plus, no way I'd ever live somewhere I couldn't have animals.

My animals, including animals I am close to like Addie, are the reason I'm still here. I cannot thank them enough and I owe my life to them. So, I would do ANYTHING for these animals. ANY FREAKING THING.

There are housing limits EVERYWHERE. Even if you own your own home most counties have a dog number limit. Most landlords have pet limits. You say you want another Akita and a BT and a working GSD on top of Kiba and Wolfgang... that is already over the housing limits in my current location. Adding Addie would be further breaking the law... a good way for you to get ALL of your animals taken from you. And trust me, my AC has done so.
