Hi I'm new here and so I hope I'm doing this right but I love dogs and am very interested in this forum.
Do you own a dog?: Yes, two
Favorite dog breed?: Hm, Golden Retriever, Am. Staffie or mutt
Tell us about your dog(s), if you have any!: Tsuki is a golden, she just turned three. She's the light of my life, my baby. I love her to death. We do 4H together. She's very lethargic and always has been, never really one to get up and do and be hyper. The only thing she gets hyped up for is agility! She's an obedience trained dog and is number one in the state in 4H for her level. She's pretty shy when we're not at home and likes to stick close to me. She doesn't bite or growl, except sometimes at other dogs (growling, not biting). She doesn't like strange men with baseball hats on. She's not perfect, but she sure is my definition of it.
Kodie is a 16 year old golden x Labrador. She has pretty bad arthritis and is completely deaf. She still enjoys life, however. She adores going to the beach and manages to keep up with Tsuki. She's best friends with everyone she meets.

Haven't been on here in a while and I see we've started a new thread.

Went home this past weekend and spent some time with my old boy. Sorry for the bad quality pic...took it on my phone, which is always a hit or miss.

He's starting to show his years now. I get sentimental like this whenever my dogs start to (show signs of) age: All the time I've spent with them thus far is a blessing, but at the same time, it saddens me to see the effects of age reign down on them when I can so clearly remember them in their prime. Though my Asian spitz dogs age much more gracefully than my Western-breed dogs.

That being said, I still have a lot of time left with this old man before I can allow myself to be more sentimental.

Yeah I don't think he is a purebred. Maybe a Pyrenees Lab mix? Gorgeous either way

Looks mainly Lab (Labs can be "white"), but he does look like he probably has some larger breed in him as well :3 He looks a lot like my Lab mix, Misty, and we can never quite guess what she is mixed with.

I wonder just how many dogs that are marked as Pitbulls (which I just take as meaning American Pit Bull Terrier) are actually American Staffordshire Terriers. What exactly are the differences between the two breeds? I know AmStaffs looks smoother and thicker and are usually bigger.

Oops should have added that I didn't think he was purebreed but I was going by the some of the breeds I know that was his color and height. But yes he is gorgeous and so sweet

Depends ENTIRELY upon the registery. Personally I consider the ADBA American Pit Bull Terrier to be the most/ more correct. In UKC Am. Staffs and APBT's can be cross registered with the AKC and most of the pedigrees are pretty similar, many ARE APBT x AM.Staff mixes and there roots can be traced back to one or two studs from the early 1990's.

Ahh, his battle scar due to yours truly. Tatsuya was SSA during most of his prime and, without thinking and probably not fully understanding, my young self (I think I was 10?) let him out in the yard with another male SSA Japanese Akita. As you can imagine, it was quite a bad fight. One of my many mistakes, though it was an honest mistake any child could make while trying to be responsible and help their parents in caring for the dogs.

What is everyone's opinion on cropping ears and docking tails? Particularly cropping ears on APBTs and AmStaffs?
I think it looks nice when done correctly, not when they're just cut right off x.x
