@Banishment.
Welcome to the thread! Hope to see more about you and Harley soon!
@Soul of Winter
Congrats on completing your first show! How did you end up doing?
@Hime
Yay, more foal pictures! Hopefully you can find a solution to the bucket issue- spending tons of time and money on bucket problems doesn't sound fun. If there are safe ponds/rivers nearby, she might enjoy that, but I'm not familiar with your area and obviously that's up to your discretion.
@copper_the_horse
Wow, he looks very nice! Are/were you competing on him today?
@eventingg.
Good luck! Hopefully your trainer can avoid any teasing or issues between the two of you and remain professional. c:
@Anaphea
Wow, that's exciting! Anything you've done in particular lately that's interesting? What discipline do you ride? And wow, I've never heard of leather so rough that it scratches hands, that must be extremely tough.
@xXFalloutXx
Nice! Getting riding clothes is always exciting! Just be sure that when you're picking out riding boots, that you're picking ones with few buckles that could scratch leather and fit fairly tight like tall boots/half chaps. Buying less expensive boots like that is a great idea for schooling, though!
@My riding
I definitely remember posting about the show, so I won't talk about that again, ahaha. I've been riding Pete a lot lately (surprise, surprise) and we've gone up a little bit in jump height. He's a little awkward over bigger stuff (I'll probably post a video of a line we did, with a bonus bad distance!)[video link] but that might also be me. I haven't been doing as much exercising lately, our park district classes are pretty constant now and with my student right after my lesson, it's hard to find time and squeeze in extra rides. A lot of boarders are starting to ride more now as well, which means less riding time for me.
Finally, I get to go to horse camp! That's now actually at my level! My barn is having an advanced camp this summer that I really want to participate in, and I'll actually get to learn things and jump a little more. I've never lunged, clipped, or braided, so I'm excited to learn some new (important) horsey skills.
I'm also definitely getting a lot more responsibility. I might be teaching one more student on Thursdays. I've taught her once before, she's pretty independent, which means less running for me. I just need to see how well she does on some more difficult horses, and if she still needs more to do, come up with fun exercises at the trot. She's pretty young, so I doubt she'll be cantering for a little while. I also was told yesterday that I'm going to be trained in this park district session so I can teach park district the next time around, because we'll be loosing an instructor that previously taught park district, and the other trainer can't teach for 4.5 hours straight with no lunch. So I'll be training to do that in the next few weeks, and then I think I teach the next park district. I'm nervous, but excited. For me, this is a big responsibility. I'm planning on taking notes and trying to follow them as best I can, but we'll see.
One final question:
What are some essentials you keep in your tack box at home?
(And by tack box, I don't mean grooming bag/box)
