Update:Well just a quick update, I got 3rd at Regionals, meaning I didn't qualify for Zones, which sucked because 1st and 2nd do and I was that close to it
But I beat 15 other riders in total because I was called back from my heat. Just sucks because I was that close :s

But next year is another chance in the IHSA riding world! We are gonna have at least 5 Novice riders >.< and they limit entries so god help us. We need people in other classes, that's for sure! I probably won't point out next year, but I'm getting better with my riding every day. I jumped the highest I've ever jumped the other day, 2" 9' and I really didn't even notice, hah. I'm proud of how far I've come and I keep learning more everyday, hopefully more soon. Looking forward to this summer to get more accomplished. Maybe not shows, but continuing my lessons and keep getting better every day. My instructor sees me improving and it makes me happy. My position is finally getting to be where I want it. And some are just natural riders, but I'm not. And it's just a slower, longer process for me to get to where I want to. I'll be there someday. Just baby steps, and it really sucks sometimes, but I'll get there with time! Slowly moving up the jump heights and I'll get to where I want to be soon enough. Probably won't show much if at all this summer, as much as I wish I could, it's just so expensive and I have to save for lessons during summer and school.

Hope everyone else here is doing well, and continues to do so! I'll update when I can!

Just a little tidbit on my riding life:

Everything is doing well! I'm getting ready for the show season. I will hopefully be riding in Pre-Training Eventing by the end of the season. I am very happy with how I'm progressing, with my coach I'm currently jumping Training level which is about 3'' or 3'' 3'. I'm far to lazy to find pictures and video, but if anyone wants to watch a video or see pics feel free to say and I'll go hunting for some footage.

I'm so happy to have found this group, it is so nice talking to other horse lovers and reading the posts <3

so glad that I found this feed...
wasn't sure if I was the only one XD
riding is my life.
my whole life evolves around riding.
if a show ever fell on a school day?
'she has a cold' my mum would say haha...
I have 5 now...
sometimes I get told its mad.
got Charles, my 10 year old, 14.3hh dapple bay, (yep, dapple bay) Cob X Dales gelding who I got when I was 10 as my first actual horse, rather than ponies :)
then ive got Rhia my 2 year old, 15.2hh (still bum high) grey Irish Sport Horse X Warmblood filly... shes a little gem unlike:
Binding the Stars (Star), my 8 year old 16.1hh dark bay Warmblood show jumper mare who I jump affiliated with... she's a little rat, unless you know her, I won't let anyone near her.. she pulls faces as warnings haha and you have to 'read' her so-to-say. She is a wonderful mare though. you just have to see her true beauty.
Cash In My Pocket - (Cash) - my 6 year old 16.2hh chestnut OTTB (Off The Track ThoroughBred) gelding who I rescued from the meat truck.. He was dog lame when I got him and now he hacks with me everywhere, he's basically some form of car for me hahahaha
then finally we have Zodiac Reading (Zolah, ZoZo, Zocow (long story XD)) my piebald shetlandd<3
I love them all to pieces x

So here's some horse related questions for everyone/anyone:
1.What's your favourite breed?
2.What's your favourite coat colour?
3.Do you have any ideal horse height?
4.Do you have any ideas for a (registration) name for a Quaterhorse X Percheron (X) thoroughbred? Either going to be black or dark grey with a barn name of either Tambo (male) or Alexia (female). I can give the parents names of needed.

Oo, random questions fun. lol
1.What's your favourite breed?

Icelandic horse
2.What's your favourite coat colour?

I like silvers, blue duns, roans and pintos probably the most.
3.Do you have any ideal horse height?

I prefer smaller over larger ones, on Icalandics under 140cm is fine for me and on 'big' horses I'd say maybe 150-160cm range would be nice.
4.Do you have any ideas for a (registration) name for a Quaterhorse X Percheron (X) thoroughbred? Either going to be black or dark grey with a barn name of either Tambo (male) or Alexia (female). I can give the parents names of needed.

Dark grey ain't a horse color. c; Sorry no ideas, I'm pretty bad at naming without having met/seen the horse first.

In the end I decided not to enter Tý into this year's breeding show. I just didn't get the feeling it was right time(he did look and move better last year and no need for worse evaluation) and L also helped by pointing out many cons to it. I did how ever also recently talk with a trainer and looks like Tý's getting started under saddle this fall. :) Just some ground work and very basics under saddle, so I really won't start riding him just yet. I know my plan was to have him started next spring, but turns out the trainer I had in mind only takes horses in for basic training during fall and would rather start a stallion at 3,5 year old, so as I really want her to train him this is what we do. The second training period would then be maybe next spring/summer(suggested by the trainer), or maybe even next fall, as I'm really in no rush to start riding him.

1.What's your favourite breed?
icelandic , original purebreed arabian or russian arabian...working racing-endurance line, akhal teke, Trakehner horse :D

2.What's your favourite coat colour?
for sure black
but also some other like... blue dun, dark bay, buckskins , silver dapple black, black Pinto, black silver dapple, dark liver chestnut ...

3.Do you have any ideal horse height?
over 125cm-work best with 135-140cm... under 120cm would be to small for me ...i think i would look stupid and feel not good too:D and im not so much for horses over 170cm...not sure...maybe one day when i ride one...

4.Do you have any ideas for a (registration) name for a Quaterhorse X Percheron (X) thoroughbred?
...maybe show a pic of the horse than it would be easyer for the rider here to offer names^^....but why not uses those names you have, they sound not bad ;)

@ Hime

sad that you did not enter Ty for the Show, but it will be the best.
wow you start him under saddle already, so you like to Show him under saddle next year :?: thats interesting too :!:

can she show him next year under saddle in the breeding show too (when he is ready then^^), or do you need to find an other trainer-rider for him??

-->ohhhh....and do you also want to try for 1 or 2 or so test foal with him; to see how they will be and if he is good enough for breeding? some breeder do this to decide if they send there stallion to breeding Shows under saddle and if they really want there stallion as stallion....do you want to do this too :?:
Please klick them or they will die°°!!!

@Luzien:
Oh no no no, definetly not looking into showing him under saddle next year, if ever. Showing him under saddle next year would require too much training in such short time for young horse for my liking. Tý can still be shown next year with just conformation and lunged moves, like he was last year and would have been this year. So if he's looking good next year and the trainer thinks he might have potential, then I might enter him into the breeding show for the conformation evaluation. But if not, then he's going to be a happy gelding most likely. ^^
The trainer he's going to now, could show him under saddle and would be my first pick if I were to go down that road with Tý. ^^ How ever showing under saddle is extremely expensive here. As not only the entry fee is several hundred euros, but the training needed before the show is also costly(we are talking 600-700e per month of training). So as it is, I can't afford having him shown under saddle as to be honest I can probably barely afford his basic training this fall.

We can't do such test foals. Or we could, but the foals would be totally worthless in eyes of our Icelandic horse community as the resulting foals would basically have no showing or breeding rights. The rules of our association state that the stallions used for breeding must be evaluated in a breeding show and pass certain set point limits to get their breeding license. They also need their DNA matched to both parents and bone spavin x-rays taken. Foals from unlicensed stallion can not be entered in any offical competition or breeding shows, ever.
Also one of the cons L pointed out about showing him this spring was that if Tý were to get the breeding rights and mares to cover this spring/summer, then he'd most likely awaken his hormones even more and it might effect his focus in training a little, due him being more aware of mares and other things like that.

Firstly, we found a lovely home for Jack. I hope the girl gets on well with him like I did! <3

Hi there,
I had to sell Thunder. We didn't have enough grass to keep him. When we where loading him onto the trailer his eyes got huge and sad and he just stood there and looked at me like I had betrayed him. He freaked out when he left, and I couldn't go comfort him like I could all the other times. I'm never going to see him again.
