@kestrell
ooo horse shopping sounds fun! aww thats a shame ;u; Oleander sounds good! lovely name. hope it all goes well for you <3

@im super bad at replies sorry ;o if anyone wants to chat about horses hmu ;D

@updates
my lil pony is doing well!! was going bonkers in the arena on sunday, jumped 80cm by herself which was cool. however, her "clicking" hooves are acting up again. had some people look at her and apparently she's overreaching. put her in some boots (all four) but shes still doing it? they pretty much go down to the ground too...

im away for a bit so im getting her old riders to excerise her which hopefully will go well, since i fell off her yesterday :'D going around a corner and there was a another horse acting up (napping/spooking) and briony just spooked and bolted off. not very far but i ended up with my arms around her neck and all on one side of her. once she stopped (shes very good at taking off at high speeds and then slowing down in about 10 seconds) i pulled the stirrup away from my foot and slid off. idk if it counts as a fall but eh!

theres this kid at the stables who is kinda irritaing me but i dont want to talk about it publicly oops!

this is kinda a mess but oh well!! <33
hope you are all doing well with your equines ;D

Update on the Trouble with Tracer (my neighbors unruly gelding)!!

Tracer was put on calming drugs at the stable before we all went to test him out.
they got their money back and went to my stable and got a lovely gelding named Tiki! he's a stunning bay thoroughbred who's 16.5hh and is such a calm boy <3

Today I turned my Welsh Section C 13.2hh black gelding Jack into the turnout with my sisters pony, Lucky.
As the ground was pretty much mud and rain and melted snow combined, they both found patches of snow to roll in. Obviously, Lucky, the 'Queen' took the biggest patch of snow, so she had more room.
Jack was stuck with this small bit, and ended up rolling too close to the electric wire fence. And he rolled into it.
He got stuck on his back and was kicking at the air.
Luckily the yard owner was dumping muck on the muck heap, so she ran and turned off the wire, even though at this time he had calmed down a bit and realised he shouldn't struggle.
Of course, Lucky was prancing around, snorting.
I went to grab a knife from the hay barn and the yard owner cut the wire whilst I sat on his neck, and then she managed to push him over and he stood up, perfectly fine, just probably with a small burn and the shock of it all.
Just glad he didn't fall into the barbed wire on the other side of the electric wire.
Man, it was scary
Imagining what Lucky would do if it happened to her - She's alot more sensitive haha
BTW: He's fine, we washed down his legs and didn't find any cuts, and he's all nicely tucked up in his stable at this minute c:
It's worrying to see such a big animal on its back or something, because I've honestly never really seen them like that, unless they are rolling ofc c:

ALSO

When we got Jack he was not working properly, as in, the muscles on either side of his withers weren't developed as they should be. Now we've had him for a couple years, they have really grown, and his saddle is pinching him. He doesn't like it and will buck as of this.
After growing out of him, he is up for sale. But my question: should we get a new saddle? We've had people come to see him already, but the saddle keeps slipping as we leave the girth looser so he doesn't buck, he hasn't done anything. But I really don't want people getting bucked off.
Should we get a new saddle that fits him better, as long as the new owners will keep him well worked?

I know this is probably a really late reply but, yeah
You should carry on!
I'm in secondary too, only been there for a couple years, and we've had horses for a while.
I usually get around 10 pieces of homework a week, yet even though we have four horses I manage to fit in the time to do everything that needs doing.
I find it good to take a day off doing the horses though, so then I can relax and get on top of my homework so I have more time for horses.
It is hard work and can have consequences - e.g wanting to not go because you are tired after school, leaving homework till the last minute..
But honestly, going to the stables and riding makes me relax and feel good, and it always lifts my mood :)

She goes to my school and used to be my friend. She will want to compare scores (we're doing the same) and make judgments on who's the better rider. She has come up to me before and said "I haven't been riding nearly as long as you and I'm almost as good." She is really rude and other things I shouldn't say, and she really should never of gotten a horse. I'll start to sound rude and obsessed with her if I go on and say everything she does/has done. A few of you would have seen when I wrote about this girl who wanted to break in a horse by just chucking the saddle on- this is the same girl. I wish I never met her and I hope I don't have to see her tomorrow.
Anyway, I'll make sure to let everyone know how we go and I might share my dressage scores with those who are interested. I only recently went up to grade 4 (I wanted to go up A LOT earlier) so I'm kinda nervous. I'll tell you all how it goes tomorrow.

I'm going away camping today so I will post pics when I get back. I'd reply to everything but we need to leave asap

same as the other did say :D
and dont forget when you have your first Job... or go working, study....^^
do it aslong as you have time( and even those who work can find time for riding or working with horses^^ )...even only a hour riding each week is enough, and when you make a plan for homework, helping your parents at home, maybe extra Hobbys and such, then you will find out how much bether you can finish your usal work on a tighter planed shedule each day and how much more free time you have than you may think now....
when i was at School i had an hour after eating for myself than i had to do my homework in two hours, and help a bit with some small things at home...and than i had time for myself, our dog or for riding...then i did ride a lot more.

but you have to plan things a bit, bring order in your day and you will find free time...(and never push work from School to the next day or week...do it asap maybe even in School when your School offers this like mine did...or a study Group...you will get work done so much faster, and then you can plan in more riding time^^)

@ Silver Brumby:
have fun camping, and that would be nice with the pics of the event^^

@ sleepypony:
wow what did you use for the electric wire...Titan?....sounds extremly sturdy....most normal wires would have broken-snapped...^^
that really was luck with the barbed wire behind the fence...and that he did stay still after the first shock.
when possible you should try to put the barbed wire away from all horse fences, way to dangerous ...i know it as i did see horse hurt by it at an others persons place...

but im happy for you and your horse, hope he is tomorrow his old self and does not hurt^^

To the saddle...borrow one that works for him, you can Train him with it still he is sold, and the People who want to try him out can use it...to buy a saddle that the People may not want may not be good.
or you could Change the saddle you have?! or a heavy pad under it so that the saddle cant pinch him when trying him out...

good luck, tell how it goes :)

Instead of getting a new saddle, try asking your instructor or anyone else at your stable if they will let you borrow their saddle (as long as it doesn't pinch) when somebody comes to try him. Then he won't be uncomfortable, the saddle shouldn't slip back and you won't have to give up a brand new saddle when you sell him.

Well, this seems like fun. I adore horses, especially my not-so-big boy Dante. He's a Paso Fino, which for those of you who don't know that breed is a Colombian bourn horse, as far as I have been told, so correct me if i'm wrong ^^

He acts like a big dog, honestly. I love him to pieces. However he is the sassiest being I have ever met. Plus he likes to nibble x3

I had a ride on Jessie today for the first time in a week. While I've only been riding her once a week because of college anyway, she is currently out at grass and very hyper on so little work. It's not an ideal situation, her owners don't own the field so can't divide it up which means she is eating her own body weight in grass all the time. She's no longer underweight though - just an unexploded bomb. So we had a lot of long trots, one extremely short steady canter and a long walk home and I think with a lot more of that she might just about stay manageable.
New username to remind me of the wind through the trees and the way I want to be.

May i ask what breed was she?
to the fence- pasture:
....the owner still can use a portable fence, even when he cant Change the fence --- but he can set up some electro wire/electro braid/polytape and some Step-In Fence Post :!: ....its easy to set up and take down and put at other place...so you can move the fence to part the pasture every other day a bit more and she can only eat what you give her....and for the big hunger( when the pasture is not so big you can give her a bit hay )

maybe you also should find a second rider or a Person who can lunge her, or put her together with other horses...

how Long is Long trot...half an hour? and the rest?...how much time do you use for all gaits? maybe you could make one or the other longer, or Change the gaits more often...? or hill work...
