@Hime. Thanks for the help! I'll start looking for some good foods. also, I'll have to Email my old horse riding teacher (She quit doing lessons) for more advice on it. The weather changes dramatically where I'm at. In winter it could be in the ones and in summer it could be in the high 90s. My dad is a mechanic and builds some and my bro builds a lot too. I'm thinking about getting a appaloosa or a quarter horse, I live out in the country. :)
Hey! You can call me River or Wolfie!

Feel free to trade or pm anytime!!

ps. i need to redo my signature so just ignore it. I'm too lazy to do it rn lol

HELP! I need advice on my new pony. She is totally green, and can only go over 18 inch jumps at the moment(super annoying since I have to go back a few classes at shows). But I need help on how to get her to STOP MOVING. I love her to death, but she doesn't stop, and when I use my seat and my leg, she either bucks or rears. What do I do?!

Hey uh, I don't ride horses [for now, anyway], but I do really like them! Would it be okay if I posted here?

The main reason why I don't ride horses at the moment is because a. I live In the city and b. Its too expensive.

only jumping in fast :D write more when needed later

@ alexterrisure write away, post nice horse Picture, maybe some you did, when you start to ride write about this, or when you have questions ask away, i think most will try to answer or help :P
when you like to ride ask in the stables near you if you can help out a bit for some lessons, most do this, or ask if some horse owner Needs someone to take care of there horse when they dont have time and you get then for this a lesson...^^
good luck!

@ Keep_flying im really not sure what the Problem is....
how old is the Pony?
how Long is she under a rider?

When she is only started under the rider a short time ago, then you cant expect of her to jump or jump high....she does not have the muscles needed....Train her from the ground, on Long distances out on the trail and dressage Training bevor going at jumping, when the muscles are not right she cant do much.
maybe look for a lesson horse for your Shows till the mare is up in Training.

how does she Need to stop moving...??
when you mean that she starts moving around when you put pressure on her with the legs then it may be that she is very sensitive or unsure what you want from her! maybe do some Video Clip of you riding her and see if ist your fault and what you can do to get her more at ease with a rider on back.
Maybe tell a bit more about her, or the Problem, how Long she has it, what you do bevor she starts moving and so....i say most things you see the best on Video...i love this as ist a great Training help^^
please write more and ask away...i think the Jumper here...that are still there atleast...can help you bether...i could only help with Training and so

@ Hime wow sorry to hear that with the weather, hope that it gone bether or atleast does snow...
we still have only rain....stupid...but hopeful we get snow later.^^

are those shoe worth something or are out of leather...then maybe a saddle-leather worker could repair them....but maybe look at this Wellington muckboots they seem nice and good for muddy weather(arctic adventure has funny color^^)

thats nice with the car....maybe it was a sign: --change your tires you Need winter ones-- or so^^
Great that Ty can stay as Long as needed, and that he has a bether Change to be sold as stallion, hope he and you will have fun at the Show and get good place...do you already knw when it will be?

really the Hand-foot and mouth disease :shock: (i did think my sister was crazy as she asked me over the handy if i may have this (i mean a cow disease-really-....but then Google did Show me what it is and that she did not make fun...)as i had Little spots on the Hands....) but in the end it was a sort of scarlet fever with a touch of flu bevor this...
what is this with the child illness going around at this time of year...where my sister lives and also some other areas...there where some cases of the hand-foot mouth disease.....strange....
who knows maybe we both got to Close in the area of a kid that had this...
awww well....good health i wish you and no sick Kids or other People near you for next month... :D

hope you find the time to ride and have fun with your Girl bevor she Needs to go in her mother time next year....please Show pics of her when the weather is well^^ ist fun to see the belly growing Pictures over time^^

.
Please klick them or they will die°°!!!

    keep_flying: I would suggest seeking out help from a knowledgeable coach/rider who can watch from the ground or have a ride to find the source of the problem. There are so many reasons a horse could be bucking, so without knowing more about the situation it'll be hard to give specific advice.

    My first thoughts and questions would be; could it be something to do with the tack? Was the saddle you use fitted by a professional or someone very experienced with fitting tack? If the saddle fit is off it could be causing pain in the horses back. Does the bucking only occur when slowing down from full speed, or does the horse buck being asked to slow down from any pace including walk? If the horse is really naturally forwards and proving to get frustrated / not listen when asked to stop I would go back to basics and practise lots of walk to halt until it stands patiently at halt, before proceeding to trot to walk transitions etc. I doubt the buck is being cause by the horse being lazy and knowing its a way out of work - otherwise it would stop. Bucking could also be caused by inexperience or fear on the horses part. What sort of training has she done so far? Does she mainly do this when you jump, or during flatwork as well? If it's an issue on the flat as well, personally I would focus on overcoming this issue on the flat first because it's likely to be worse over fences. If the no brakes issue is only over fences, well that's a whole other novel to write...
    I'd better finish here before I go off on a tangent, because without knowing more details there's so many things it could be.

    TLDR: I would suggest getting your coach to help, or posting a more detailed description of the series of events around your horses bucking.

If u can't get her to stop, well lets say she is a level or so up from your level and she knows that, are u a beginner, intermediate or advanced? An what level is the horse it sounds more like Intermediate and advanced, where did u get the pony, contact the owner did the owner say she had no vices and she is still green that's probably why, take the pony to a trainer or something an see if that helps

And how long has you been riding horses for?

@Luzien
Thank you for your help! It probably was me. I probably shouldn't assume that she should be able to jump higher than 18 inches since she's 3 yrs old, I guess I'm just an impatient person. Anyway thanks again!

@Soul Of Winter
Thanks for your advice! I'm intermediate, so I suppose she's advanced. I will try to get a trainer for her as soon as I can. Thank you so much!

@crazycrankycritter
She is quite inexperienced. I'm guessing it has something to do with that, since we had someone come and do a custom fit saddle for her. She does it mainly when jumping, but yes, occasionally when we are working on flat work as well. The no brakes thing is both jumping and flatwork, so we tried using cavelettis to slow her down, and that worked a little bit. I talked to my trainer(because of your comment:D)and she says that I may need a more powerful bit. So thank you so much for your help!!

Uhh I really wouldnt recommend jumping her at all at age three- ecspecially undersaddle. Leads to a bunch of problems in the future c: But if your trainer says its ok, I guess she knows more than me. If its just a matter of you being impatient- then just wait a bit longer. No horse is physically mature at age 3.

Haven't been on here in a while c: If anyone remembers- Im the person that owns the green Welsh Cob x TB mix named Lashley. We are now jumping 2'3/2'6 courses (which is awesome!) and we plan to show at 2'' this winter and over the summer. We are doing absolutely awesome! I can't believe how far shes come in 7 months!
Mods-
