For the first time that Red has been ridden in 3 months, he was great! So happy with him. Molly however, seemed to be having an off day, so we didn't jump anything over 3 feet.

(My equitation does not usually look like that.. I was fixing my reins ;P )

hello, bonjour
please call me believe

herro der mes amis, i am believe. proud canadian, ottb loving, colt breaking, nfr dreaming. pictured on the left is my racetrack reject, landofmakebelieve, aka molly, moo, shmoo, whatever name comes to mind x] molly is a 10 year old canadian bred thoroughbred mare, and standing at about 16.2hh, we look a little wonky when we chase cans, but la dee da that's alright. molly and i tried several disciplines. i tried desperately to get her to catch on to dressage, but unfortunately, she still has the race bred mind and is all go. however, together we found a discipline which we could both enjoy; western gaming. this summer we started travelling to barrel races locally. our current record on a standard size pattern is 17.314 and we are improving with every run. and to all the low budget barrel racers out there such as myself, a word of advise; chin up darling. you may not have a million dollar mount under your butt, but you and your crossbred, rejected, hard headed, rescue baby can do it. you know why? cause those girls sitting in their custom circle y's, upon shiny, top of the line mounts are full of themselves. they think there's no way they can lose. they get cocky. stay humble, believe in yourself, in your horse, and most importantly ride your little heart out.

I started to wonder when I started looking for names last time Heta was pregnant. Turns out it was already little after the 3 month ultrasound when I started writting down my faves. And now we are at 5 months I believe and today was the first day I considered looking at names. I think I'm improving with my selfcontrol skills. ;) *eats chocolate bar(the big ones) in one evening* Or maybe not...

Nothing other horse related to update as I've been sick since last Friday evening with fever and then few days later the rest of the flu package, and last 3 days I've got this weird rash, so went to the doctor and he said it was some virusbased thingy(though weird version of it), which may mean I'm sick for several more days(basically that I had one flu virus first and now have caught another virus) or it's just weird timing for the skin symptoms seeing that my fever has been down for whole day now. :/ Fever means no going to school(yay I can stay home, not at the dorms), but also no pony time... : P

Check him out ;)

And I'm off to clinic soon with one boarder as her horse hasn't been eating since Wednesday and is not himself, and no vet is available to come check him out. :( I'm not 100% but I think I can make this trip(since no fever for couple days yay) and I'd really really hate to tell her no, since she can't haul him herself. And I really want to get out of the house to be honest. XD

Jessie loves stepping on snow. She seems to enjoy the cushiony feeling, especially as she isn't shod. I hope you get the chance to ride through snow sometime because it is an amazing feeling to canter across a snowy hilltop miles from civilisation.

(Though one of my friends started her periods on horseback during a snow storm, and she has really poor circlation so she felt like death. Slightly less amazing.)
New username to remind me of the wind through the trees and the way I want to be.

Not really trying anything color related this time(well maybe tiny tiny bit of me is wishing suprise socks), since the foal will surely be chestnut and more than likely a flaxen as well. ^^;

Me too! It's so icky and dark this time of the year without snow. XP

You have to be careful, though, when riding in the snow. There are ice spots to slip on, and holes are harder to spot, and it can really injure both you and your horse. It is amazing, but be careful!

I have been diagnosed with Emotional Intensity Disorder, Depression, and ADHD, so my inbox is always open to people who need to talk.

I thoroughly enjoy horseback riding, writing, biology/chemistry/animal science. I also love to study and research law. I'm currently at school in Ohio studying Zoology, and am hoping to one day achieve a masters in primate studies!

I've done volunteer work in South Africa, most of it spent working with infant Chacma Baboons and Vervets, but did get a chance to work with big game animal like lions, elephants, rhinos, cheetahs and giraffes. If anyone is looking for resources, I'd love to help!

So the vet was out this morning - Merlin has a bump on his leg we wanted him to check out - and turns out Merlin broke one of his splint bones somehow :( Had to have been in the pasture because when we found it it was after he hadn't been ridden for a few days.
The fracture is making it rub against his tendon so he's going to have surgery to remove the bone. Not sure exactly when he'll be having the surgery but it will be fairly soon, which I guess is okay because that means the stall rest/recovery (about 3 months worth...) will mostly be over winter when I wouldn't be riding much even if he was sound.
In other news.. adding a couple stall toys to my christmas list so he doesn't get too bored XD
