betadine( providone iodine) or later zinc ointment but to keep it save from mud you could put on a thick layer of Vaseline?
Great that Hope does so well and you could ride her, hope that you can rub this the other Girl one day in the face when you ride her in front of her. Do you think that you can ride her sometimes in a Show in the future? It sounds as if you work well together^^
Awww i so like Midas, do you want to send him over...i love good horses who are
bitches to handle^^ with time when you ride such horses you learn tricks to get them softer and easy to handle.... but i understand for all the time i also would not like to have such a horse, but maybe two times a year or so^^ to learn new tricks for the own horse....
may i ask what you mean with heavy, head heavy or does he only pull a lot or does he bite on the bit and does keep you from giving him direction?
Horses who know how to bite the bit are sometimes clever as hell and did learn how to get out of to hard work with tricks like this and only do so much as absolutely needed.
Maybe they did not kick him out because of his nice movements? or something else, hey maybe he was an old champion^^
But the ride did not Sound like fun for you, hope you feel bether now, and then i hope for you that you dont have to rid him again :)
please tell how Granix is, hope he is well soon!
I've been using Biozide on it which worked really well when he had that nasty gash on his shoulder last year. I used a betadine scrub to clean it out initially though.
My barn is holding a dressage show this weekend and I had originally entered to compete with Granix, but when he hurt himself, I requested to simply switch to her. Sadly though, we had more people send in entry forms than we have time for, so since I sent mine in a bit late, I didn't get in. I definitely want to show her some time this year though!
I'm sure my barn would sell him to you cheap, haha.
I do like riding horses that exorcise those skills, but not quite to that extent. I'd ride him again if I had to, but I wouldn't be happy about it.
All of the above. The type of heavy we usually deal with at my barn is the type that leans on the bit, but Midas is a weird combination of all of it. He leans, pulls, and takes the bit and runs. Fortunately, he does listen to leg somewhat decently, so steering and transitions are doable.
I think right now, the only reason he's there is because one of our trainers really likes him even though she only has one or two students she can put on him. He came from auction so we have no knowledge of his past.
