In my dressage test it says to "half circle right 10 metres diameter to X"
and then " half circle left 10 metres diamter to B"

    How do you ride these?
Ive never had to do one before and my riding friends dont have a clear answer and I dont have a trainer.
    whoops.
wondering if you guys could help <3

Just as it sounds like. :3 I assume you are supposed to start the first one at E. So ride to X like you'd ride a normal circle, but don't continue back to E. Basically this is you riding half circle or curved line really. Then from X you are supposed to continue to B for another half circle, so same thing again. Here you have to change direction as well. The finished combined pattern looks like an 'S'. ^^
And the diameters are easy to estimate, since small dressage arena measures 40x20m so half short side is 10m. So when doing circle or half circle from long side that asks for 10m diameter, you just make it reach the center line(X in this case).

It's essentially a serpentine with X as your mid-point whereat you make the change in bend/direction. :)

@ June Bug: thats really great :D how long did you take to finish it? and why not let one like it is and one with Color? so that they are two? but i really like this is^^

@ Toothless & Hiccup: those two horses of your friend, that you work with, what breed are they...im not sure are they drafts or or old typ heavy Haflingers? and do you use them for driving or pulling trees from the forest or field work....only when i may ask?

@ Pony Box: it could be interesting, when they did an one time buy, a every other month buy, and every month buy...when they sorted themseld out bevor opening again....to think things over and try it out in small steps is important(like first only 20- 50 boxes, when this works they can do more...)when they did it a bit bether, and worked out the delivery Problems, and did more different typ of boxes with more things in them- and an Picture of the things that is in each box...that you also could buy as lone item...(i think that $25 i think was the small box with 3 items is a bit to much( i looked around in some other who do something like this there are 5-8 items...), when in each box where something like different typ of treats and feed(to try them out), a grooming item, gloves, lead rope, Little charms, socks, a riding crop-whip, bandages, fly spray..., ...things that you use and Need more often....then it could be interesting)

@Luzien: EMS, as in equine metabolic syndrome(had to google ^^')? Yes thisIf so then, oh my... That sounds like pretty sudden and very serious reaction. :c I've only heard people with horses that have EMS, complain about the weight/feeding issues(about the crazy manic sugar avoiding mostly) and the proneness to laminitis. sugar she never did got,she also did not got fat depositions like most, only her neck was a bit heavier neck crest, some swelling under the head and on the nose, so it did not look like most Pictures...then the Trouble with Walking or Standing, the hurting hoove and leg and from this wrong standing her back hurt too....and yes she gets no more grain feed even not when Training then she gets a carrot and herbs, not much on apples, i would love to give her some treats but ist nearly impossible to find sugar free grainless treats without the other things they should not eat.... some use soja bits(like vegetarian eat^^), but to wash the hay to get sugar out i think is grazy or difficult for outside horses(only for those living in a cozy warm stall) because of the bacteria that sit on it after a short time and when ist cold ist frozen over....so they get hay-net over the hay for the dayBut your poor girl sounds like she had it really hard. Which makes it even more significant that she's doing much better now. c:Yes that i fing too, but there are horses who got it worse and other who did got cushing to the laminitis...so i knock on Wood and say that im happy ist not so bad only bad ...and im happy that she really Looks bether and loves to walk again :) The only thing that comes to my mind from swelling on the head area is that one really nasty super contagious disease, which I have no clue what it is in english... ^^' Sort of like flu, but nastier and really easily spreads around. But reaction to the herbs might be more likely reason...oh my no, nothing contagious...it looked more like she was stung by some insect or snake bite
As for the hooves. I'd try get her front hooves x-rayed in case there's rotation of the coffin bones from the possible laminitis. As if there's rotation that has to be taken into consideration with the trimming.yes as she had Trouble Standing we did not do it, then it was the time and then storm-crazy rain and snow...terrible to travel with Trailer, and the clinic does not really do mobile x-ray and the vet who does is over the head with Clients for next months...so as soon as streets are clear we want to go to the clinic. I had to google that hoof armor thing and it seems it's just a product used to protect the sole of the hoof, not really the sides/hoofwall which would still wear down in use. Hoof boots might be best option out of those. As glue shoes are bit uncovenient imo. There was one lady advertising some supposibly shock absorbing glue shoes, which were basically iron shoe covered with some sort of rubber. They cost like 100 euros a pair and didn't last has long as the iron shoes(so more frenquent shoings were needed), nor could you really re-use them(like normal iron shoes can sometimes last few shoings, or even whole winter if you mainly ride on snow). Is there some reason why you don't want normal shoes?i dont want to use normal shoes till hooves are really bether, and even bevor she rarely had shoes,so i like to Keep her as long as possible without nails in the hoove, so i want to try other things^^

My first physio(provided by the hospital) gave me pretty simple exercises to do, but they seem to work fine so far. And considering I can't lift my arm totally straight up yet without feeling slight pain and resistance, I'm good with those. XP I literally can't swim, so none of that. XD I think he said swimming would be good, after I got the moving range back to more normal state, and apparently water running might be good for me. : P The second physio I saw(on Friday), actually gave me some fascial massage(same thing that was done to Heta when her back was really bad actually) and turns out I had some really really really tight muscles on the shoulder area, especially the ones going to chest and neck. And man, that massage seriously helped, as one really annoyingly tight muscle/tendon on my neck went to totally normal over night and one area that's been odd feels much more normal now. I'm seeing another physio(from same place as the last one) on next Thursday and then we are focusing on my back more. ^^that is great that they did help you, that you can move easyer :D some more of them and some of Pilates will do also do good as bevor :)
Tý will be forever baby face, like his mommy(and apparently human mom as well XD). <3icelandic horses are often cute like this....fluffy Babys all life...thats one thing thats great in them
Yup, we still have little snow, amazing even after the rain and warmth. But luckily it's currently snowing some more. :3 Mom said it's supposed to snow about 10cm during the night/tomorrow.

@ Mustangs: like Hime did say
" 3-4 years generally is decent age to start backing a horse, any younger I wouldn't start ANY horse(not even a TB). But still I avoid major work with most horses until 5-6 years. Few can be mature(mentally and physically) enough to be worked more earlier on, but if the horse is your average youngster, then there's no real reason to it. You don't rush in the beginning and you have a healthy horse for long time to ride. c;"

Re: Do You Ride Horses? V.4

Arrrg I just lost a whole post ;-; Okay, take two in the shorter condensed version lol
Hey guys its been awhile! Sorry I disappeared, but I haven't really been on the computer much. Too busy enjoying the last days of holiday. Anyway all the ponies have been going super well. Reggie's been out onto the roads, had lots of desensitizing not that I've found anything he really reacts to yet lol I've tossed and rolled exercised balls, cones and other soft objects at him, dragged tires next to him, rolled barrels at him and dealt with the dreaded plastic bag and he barely battered an eyelid at any of them xD I'm so hoping he stays like this, make life a lot easier. In fact, he reacts more to getting his feet wet in the wash bay more than any listed above lol Still a little bit weary of strange dogs but we're working on it slowly. He's weird baby fluff is coming off and he's starting to get a nice coat. So he's going good. Donny has improved with his whole jumping thing. The refusing as stopped for the most part, he still jumps awkwardly the first few times and will try wiggle out on approach but he's definitely better. He's still not up to competing our usually height but we'll get back there eventually; especially now we actually have some wings to practice with lol Gonna try get him out to a freshman day to help work on his issue in a comp setting. He really likes the hackamore though and relaxes into it a lot more when jumping compared to a bit. His dressage his going fantastically, started working on travers and renvers
and simple changes down the centerline. He's really starting to understand and soften up through his whole body. Its not exactly pretty or extravagant, but he's working correctly from behind and you can't really blame him while he's learning these new moves lol Extravagance comes with time. I can't remember if I said this, but Sassy is off in a new lease home. She's enjoying life as a trail horse where her chipped knee wont affect her and her leasers are absolutely in love with her! I'm not sure if she will be offered to them to buy, but so far its a win win. Flaxon's lease is also almost up so he'll be heading home soon too. It'll be sad to see the big dork go, but Z is keeping touch with his owner and will be allowed to go down and visit and have a ride. She's wanting to go up a height class before he goes home, so since they were jumping super good yesterday, we decided to have a little game of chicken. We got Donny up to one hole past his comfort zone, then I went on to crash crew and photographer. Previously Z had jumped Flacco 1.15m, which was her record on any horse, so wanted to beat that, but I don't think either of us guessed exactly how big they were gonna go.
Image
That is a 1.40m spread :O It wasn't hugely wide, but considering thats the biggest they've both jumped I think is a pretty darn good effort lol Plus our wings only go to 1.50m, so literally only two more holes to go up and of course Z wants to give that a go before Flacco goes home too. Neither of them were struggling with it, so it could be done =D Flaxon was clearing them all HUGE, there was no way he was gonna touch those fences and he seemed to really enjoy himself lol It made everything else look so small though! Like for a coll down Z decided to do a 'Look Mum, no hands' jump, so I dropped it back to 1.10m and it looked TINY. In other news as a sign off, we were talking about maybe making a youtube channel to just stick up clips of our shenanigans, especially since we have 1, potentially two breakers, well Reggie still has a while but he gets other games to play, which could result in interesting times. I dunno, we'll see lol

How have all you guys been? All good I hope? =D

Hi guys!

I am getting ready to go to a lesson today. I'll be riding my little bay mare as usual, although she isn't really mine.

I'm having a birthday party for Belle Mer today. It's her actual foaling date, and I really wanted her to be around for it but my trainer sold her. :-/

So, I will be posting pictures of her cake later today. I will be posted them on Instagram, Facebook, everywhere. It's really exciting. My friend wanted to come over today for her party, but she will just celebrate tomorrow. I don't have a problem with that so hopefully that will go well.

In case you guys couldn't tell, I miss this horse like crazy. You guys should all wish her a happy birthday too, lol. <3

@June: That's amazing! :o The only thing that bugs me is that the head/neck doesn't move.

@Luzien: Yeah, I've read about most of those issues when it comes to feeding. Also from what I've heard washing out the sugar from the hay is actually quite in-effective, unless you literally soak the hay for really long time, but that also takes out some of the nutrients... So I wouldn't put too much efford/concern into it. As you said, it's quite hard if you don't have certain resources. We got couple dust sensitive horses at the stable and it's only possible to water their hay in summer. In winter all horses get hay silage though, so it's not very dusty.
Keeping fingers crossed you'll be able to get to the clinic soon. It's so much nicer to know how things actually are, rather than keep guessing.
_______________
Finally went to ride. :D Still not ideal conditions, but at least it's not total skating ring anymore. Next to the fence was pretty good as the snow had somewhat packed on the ice, in non-slippy way. The middle was though ice with only loose layer of snow, so didn't ride much there. Went pretty good, Heta was much better than last time too. Mainly walk/trot/tolt. I managed to sit the trot pretty well too, my feet were pretty still too which I'm quite proud of. Though for some reason my left foot moved more than the left... I also tried little bits of canter on the long sides. That went pretty well, though Heta has definetly gone few steps back with the left lead. : P The canter didn't feel so good to the arm, but it wasn't too bad not to do. XD
We also did short trail ride after riding little over 30 minutes on the arena. I originally would have wanted to canter one hill, but the ground was pretty bad(little snow and again slippery ice under) on that path and Heta's hind feet even slipped few times in walk, so desided not to. And 'poor' pony was huffing while climbing and already sweaty from the arena work. >_< Though she did move in pretty good pace and tried to even trot a little, so maybe not so tired after all.
Image
This bit of road had nice snow coat, but too short to canter and after the curve the road goes down hill pretty steep. : P
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

@Dragongirl: For sitting trot, abs are the most important thing to use. Exercise out of the saddle and build your core muscles. When actually sitting the trot, do NOT grip with your leg or thigh at all or else you'll tense and bounce. Stretch your hips so the angle is open and use your abs to push you into the saddle every stride. Keep your leg underneath of you in line with your hip. If you have the balance, drop your stirrups and practice not relying on your legs to keep you in the saddle, focus on your core. Stretch tall, keep a bend in your elbow with your elbow pressed into your hip, and don't pull on the horse's mouth.
For posting trot, keep your leg underneath you once again. Use your thigh muscle and core to post, not your entire leg. Your core will help you post softly. Post not up and down but swing your hips towards the horse's ears. Same with sitting trot, keep your elbow pressed into your hip and an angle in your elbow.

@Inky: A half circle is exactly as it sounds - a half circle. In the test I'm showing this year (first 3) there is a half circle at the end. Hime explained it well :)

    --

I had an AMAZING clinic on Thursday! The PSG trainer really liked Ellie and showed me how to ride her quicker, not stronger, so she wouldn't essentially give us the finger every time we took some contact. Ellie has been SO much better because of it. I got her to actually round at the trot and hold it for longer than a circle yesterday, and the rest of her work was fantastic. She kept her haunches engaged at the canter instead of pulling herself around on the forehand as usual and I played around with some lengthenings and shortening transitions and she was SO amazing. I got the best lengthened trot out of her across the diagonal and I got a baby extended canter too on the long side! And her shoulder in and haunches in have improved so much... she's not twerking her head in and faking it anymore. I'm so excited for my trainer to see how she's going with me tomorrow in our lesson :)

Hi guys

Just finished crocheting my ear bonnet but it has no ears- does anyone know what I could make the actual ears out of? They need to be baby blue :)
