I have 2 male guineas, MrRox and Skippy. c:

I wanted rats for a while, but realized that guineas would be more my speed and I'm a huge fan of their chubby little bodies and how they popcorn all over the place when happy or excited.

Hello again! Last week I adopted a hamster from someone who really knew nothing about the care. She couldn't remember his name so I renamed him Apollo. Now I have Apollo and Leah. I'm not going to breed them (I only know of two people who may want a baby anyway), but I was thinking, what would their babies look like? Also, do they have an official coloring/marking, or are they just normal? Leah is the grey, fluffy one.

They're both very cute hammies! I don't suggest breeding them either, but, hypothetically, the babies would be all different colors and designs and such. We get many pregnant hammie mothers in at the rescue and honestly the color combos we get are incredible! We have one golden female who was brought in with her mate, a golden male, and we got maybe 3 goldens out of the litter, and we know for sure that he is the father too. It depends on their lineage and stuff. She had 12 babies, and roughly 3 were golden, 2 were black, 1 white one, 2 tortoiseshell, and the rest were white banded blondes. You just have to know all of the history behind them. But this being said, please don't breed. There are a thousand and 1 things that can go wrong, and in the end, you can have 10+ babies you have no clue what to do with. Even if they all do have homes, tell the people to rescue instead! There are hundreds of thousands of homeless hammies or mistreated hammies that need a home, and they could even get a pregnant momma, or a mum who recently had pups and take care of them if they please instead of selfishly breeding for their own enjoyment, and could actually be helping out with the mass number of rescue hamsters(:

Yeah, I understand. :) I own my own animal rescue so I really would never breed, not saying anything against those who do. Leah is actually the only hamster ive ever adopted that was from a breeder. That's amazing all the colors! It will be interesting to see if any hamsters I get in will have babies. I might just have to keep one!

Babies:
You will always get Golden babies if you mate 2 hamsters that do not share any recessive genes or if you breed a Golden hamster since the color is dominant.
Short hair (unless the dad carries long hair as well)
Roan (dominant gene from mom)

    The male isn't golden c: Golden is the "wild" appearance, like Hercules;

    Apollo looks like a cinnamon to be, and Leah looks like a dilute tortie.
    If Hekomi comes on (and has time) they'll be able to tell you for certain.

never said either one was golden, just that it would be in the litter if neither one carries the same genes.
What color is the females belly? She doesnt look as roan on my computer screen as she did on my tablet. I actually see Extreme Dilute Black tortoiseshell (talk about a mouthful) and cinnamon as well.

Leah's belly is the same color as her back, just with a bit more white.
That's really interesting about the litters! I know when we bred our goats it was surprising how many color variations there were!

Goats have alot more color choices (heck, theres like 6 different shades of buckskin alone)

If you were to have baby hamsters, you could end up with 1 or 5 colors, it really depends on if they carry the same recessive genes. Without knowing, its say to say golden for sure, but everything else is a guess
