I was wondering, since mice need quite a bit of fresh vegetable in their diet, which ones are safe for them to eat. Because I know that every small animal has certain vegetable/fruit needs, and I just wanted to know which vegetable are safe for mice. Also, I know that if I put a male and a female together, that I should spay and neuter both of them, or at least the male, to prevent any unwanted babies C: Also, for the seed mixes and the pellets, which brands would you guys recommend? I know that some mice like to pick out their favourites, and that is sometimes the junk food out of it. Plus, I know that some commercial mouse foods are horrible for them, so any help would be very appreciated.

I feed Sunseed Vita Prima cockatiel seed mix as their base diet. I remove the peanuts, striped sunflower seeds, raisins, and flowers. I add in:
Plain Cheerios cereal
Rolled oats
Black oil sunflower seeds
Uncooked pasta
Mealworms

For veggies I feed romaine lettuce, carrot, bell pepper, & peas.

Be careful with the cucumber. Don't feed more than a slice per week. It has very little nutritional value and too much can cause diarrhea. Make lettuce the main part of your pig's veggie diet, but add in a good variety of other things: bell pepper (try to feed a little every day for vitamin C), parsley, kale, broccoli, dandelion greens.

It's been a while since I posted here!

Anyone remember that time I was looking for shelves? Well, I found some lookout shelves at P@H! I've got three so far, and all are in Hercules' cage, so he no longer has his wire shelves! Orion doesn't need any as she has solid shelves and my sister has bought one so far for Honey. Hercules seems to love them and I can change them around too, which is good news c: They create a 3D angle to his life.

hello everyone, I am the former owner of two handsome dumbo rat boys, Louis and Stewie, though for some time now they have not been in my life due to their lives coming to an end. there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about them.

I feel it is time to bring rats back into my life, and though I have my cage still from the past, I hope over time to bring in a larger, better quality home. alas, this is where I struggle with making up my mind. I cannot decide on if I should settle for the single critter nation cage, or if I should go for the double unit. I only plan on getting two boys again, though three is a possibility depending on if I come upon a bonded trio. any thoughts and or advice would be wonderful. I know that a single unit is more than enough room for two, yet I want for them to have a great avaliability of space to run around. I am trying to think about the future, and I am most certain I will be adding more boys to my family, which is making the double unit sound more and more tempting to me. if anyone has a critter nation/ferret nation cage, I would love to see how you have it decorated!

also, I am curious to hear of what mixes some of you put together for your rats. if you don't wish to post here, feel free to pm me.
