@ Centri

Thank you :)
Yeah, he looks very similar to what Timbre did when he was that age, so quite likely he's roan. I think he's darker than Timbre was though? I'm not sure, I'll have to dig photo's out.

Oh, I'm definitely getting along with him! He's such a little sweetheart, and because he's on his own right own, a complete attention hog XD I'm sure he'll get on with them fine :)

@ darkvoodoo

Yeah, me too XD

What age do roans coats start changing? Can't remember how old Timbre was when his did. Though fingers crossed this guys doesn't XD

@ wombat

Thank you! *hugs*

Merry is adorable! Is he a harvest mouse? I swear, if I can ever get my hands on a cheap exo-terra viv, I'll have colony of those XD

It's very indivudual when they start changing, some have become noticeably paler before they've even become old enough to move at 5 weeks, others are still almost unchanged when they're a year old. So you'll just have to wait and see :)

They generally roan with every molt starting at 4 to 6 weeks old. It starts at the face, sides and tail area.
The amount they lighten varies with the lines so it may not be noticeably the first few times

    @Spiderfish
Ahh, I got their names mixed up in my post, the mouse pictured is Pippin, he's a wood mouse. c:
Merry's a bank vole, I'll try and get photos of her up when I clean out her cage (that's if she stays still long enough). I've always been a huge fan of harvest mice though, they're such sweet little critters - if you end up getting them make sure to post lots of photos!
    and ship them to me

Hi! This is my first post here, and was just wanting some advice before I get either one male, or 3 females.

I was wondering, since mice need quite a bit of fresh vegetable in their diet, which ones are safe for them to eat. Because I know that every small animal has certain vegetable/fruit needs, and I just wanted to know which vegetable are safe for mice. Also, I know that if I put a male and a female together, that I should spay and neuter both of them, or at least the male, to prevent any unwanted babies C: Also, for the seed mixes and the pellets, which brands would you guys recommend? I know that some mice like to pick out their favourites, and that is sometimes the junk food out of it. Plus, I know that some commercial mouse foods are horrible for them, so any help would be very appreciated.

Its not very common for mice to be spayed or neutered. My vet thought I was nuts when I asked about my rats being fixed.

My homemade mix:
*Lab blocks is always in the cage but its not ate very often (they prefer to forge through the loose food)
*Wild bird seed/cockatiel seed
*High Quality dog food
*Ramen noodles (uncooked)
*Pumpkin seeds
*Whole grain cereal(cheerios/corn flakes)
*Sunflower seeds
*Split peas (uncooked)
*Rice

For veggies I feed carrots, lettuce (the darker the lettuce the better), peas, etc.

Hello!

In regard to your dietary questions, I recommend you read this page. Feel free to browse around that website some more, it is a great resource for mouse owners.

Since mice are so small and delicate, it's generally not recommended to spay or neuter a mouse so that you can house a male and female together. They are very fragile and often will not survive surgery.

I feed my mice Tropical Carnival's Hamster & Gerbil mix, and I pick out most of the corn and sunflower seeds. I know other mouse owners feed parakeet mixes with similar content.
