God, the misinformaton going on in here right now in making my head hurt. I'm just gonna ignore everything before I say something I shouldn't...Not that anyone would listen if I tried to advise anyway.

I've been looking for more rats since loosing two the other week. And, quite typically, I've been struggling to find any, again. Even though I was looking for males this time.

But, found this little guy in one of my local P@H's. He was alone, and it sounded like he's been alone for awhile. He is so friendly, and already pretty tame! He lets me pick him up straight away and comes to the front of the cage for fusses. The only time he struggles is when igot to put him back! Not bad to say he's only been with me for two days!
He'll be moving into the big cage, with the big boys, in a couple of weeks :)
Image
He reminds me so mcuh of Timbre when he was a baby. I really hope he doesn't turn roan like Timbre though, his colour is pretty enough!

What's the misinformation you're talking about? About guinea pigs? You can pm me if you don't want to write it here.

He's cute :)
He does look a lot like a black striped roan, and if he's from a pet shop (I'm guessing P@H is a pet shop) and looks like that he's very likely to be one, since roans are very common among companies that breed rats for pet shops.
But you might get lucky and find that he's a non-roaning variety, only time will tell :)
The most important thing is that you get along with him and he gets along with your other rats and that he's healthy ^^

Haven't been posting on this thread much, sorry to hear about your ratties Spiderfish, but congrats on the new guy, he's absolutely gorgeous. c:

I miss Momo cuddles but at least I still have one little cuddlebug left. Pip's never been as skittish as Merry and recently he's enjoyed having some cuddles during cage cleaning time, he still has his wonky hind leg and his stubby tail but it doesn't seem to hinder him, he really enjoys curling up in my pocket or just sitting in my palm and getting stroked. For a wild mouse he's pretty calm, and seems pretty content with his life.

Sorry for the crappy photo quality, camera wouldn't focus on his face.

Source for that? My pigs have been getting chunks of bell pepper (all colours, green most often) every day for four years now and I've never had a single problem.

I thought you shouldn't give any color of peppers too often because of there sweetness but I guess it's OK a little bit a day? How much do you recommend?
Also I often let my Piggie outside in my yard to eat clover and weeds and etc, does that count as him eating veggies?
Of course I give him plenty of veggies but I'm just wondering because lettuce might have the similar components then say...clover? I have no idea really just asking!
I give Zeke almost everyday:
•whole radish sliced in half
•plenty of lettuce
•a little bit of kale
•little bit of carrot

So that's pretty much his veggie menu although sometimes I'll give him a little bit of apple or a grape and some bell pepper. My mom uses bell peppers in a lot of meals so she uses up the peppers ill give to Zeke. I used to give Zeke way to much carrot now he's on a carrot diet I hope he's OK<3
The pellts I use gave vitamin C in them anyway as well as other less surgery veggies. I try to give him a varied heathy diet!

1/8 of a bell pepper (slice one up into eighths) should be given every single day. The green ones are not too sugary to be given on a daily basis, and pellets that contain vitamin C are not a replacement to peppers. May I ask what pellets you use? Weeds and clover do not count as veggies. Grass can be given in addition to hay, but again, it does not count as vegetables. I'm glad he's on a "carrot diet" as carrots shouldn't be given in excess amounts.

Rats do not need to get a certain dose of Vitamin C each day since they produce their own (humans and guinea pigs are among the very few animals who don't), so you do not need to worry about that specific part. But they should be given some kinds of vegetables among their other fresh food each day for the other nutrients they contain.

Bess (g.pig) doesn't seem to like her peppers. lol She loves the red leaf lettuce though. I guess I'll have to try some different vitamin c veggies. lol
