I am new to this thread but thought id join in since im getting my first rat in 2 days!
I have done my fair share of research on rats a few years ago and topped up on it now.
I was going to adopt a few rats 2 years ago but got 2 ferrets instead then another 2 early this
year! I am getting a 4 month old rescue male cinnamon berkshire and then 2 8 week old dove
males. I have turned my bookshelf into a rat cage and ill have to post some pictures soon!
I dislike petshops and have heard that the stuff in there rat food isnt very good for rats
so i have made up my own mix of food, it is a combination of plain unsalted/sugar rice bubbles,
dried fruits, unsalted nut mix and then also a bowel of fresh veggies and fruit to go with their meal everyday.
I am really excited about getting rats finally!
Oxbow is the best rat food, plus daily veggies, fruit and herbs throughout the week, and protein once a week.

My girl that i've had for over a year and i noticed a huge marble/boucyball sized lump and she's started to lose weight and i'm scared.
I also shortly after that my mom surprised me with two big boys that I named Winston Churchill and Teddy. I want to keep them in seperate cages until i know for sure she cant have babies anymore.
I'm just really freaking out because my girl, Tang Shen is one of my best friends.... I don't want her to go :C
Definitely take her to the vet. Vets can often remove them and can spay as well to reduce the chances of more, though sometimes it's too late for a spay to be affective.
I actually once thought Harmony had a mammory tumor, but thank god it ended up being an abscess.

Would a hay/veg only diet be possible? I'm pretty sure I've read about it before, but no idea where.
Any links would be greatly helpful

Or, could anyone recommend a good food brand, sold in the UK?
Yup, it's very possible! Many argue that it's better than pellets, but I don't have cavies so idk. Do they sell Oxbow in the UK? I know it's the best brand for them here.
