Ahh this thread makes me miss my childhood babies so much ;w;
We had two female sister long haired Syrian Hamsters with lovely temperaments when I was like...10. They lived just under 4 years, and died within a week and a half of each other, which was shocking because they were from an SPCA, but we did get them as itty bitty babies. My mother got them as a reward for my sister and I getting our ears pierced (We didn't want to get it done, she did, she bribed us with baby hamsters).
We didn't know at the time, but we kept them caged together. It was actually 4 very decent sized "Pet store" cages with tubes connecting them. They also came out and got to spend time running around in a large cardboard box maze-thing we made and used to switch up the routes all the time and hide tasty snacks in for them.
I wish we had known at the time you weren't supposed to house hammies together, or I never would have put them at that risk. ;w; We seemed to luck out however, since we never had a problem and they actually really enjoyed snuggling together every night and although they had lots of space to separate, they always hung out together in the same area. IF i ever got hammies again in the future (I've considered it, but I'd probably get Dumbo Rats instead, I love me them dumbos <3 ) I'd never take the risk again.
They were such lovely lil gals. Mishmash belonged to my sister and kinda looked like this
[x] Houdini belonged to me and she sorta looked like this
[x]Other than housing them together, we took very good care of them. They were my little babies, and the first pets to strictly be my responsibility and I took it /super/ seriously. Obviously I went right somewhere because they had a decent lifespan, I think.
It's lovely seeing everyone elses rodents, especially the other lovely Syrians :'D
I'll be stalking from now on for sure!
