So I'm more than a little sad today.

I know lots of people train different than most of us on here do but one of the facebook groups I'm in posted the following picture with the description;

"The pups had to lay next to one another touching but weren't allowed to look interact with one another. If they did they were corrected via either prong or shock collar. It was supposed to teach them to be tolerant of other dogs but to not interact with one another"
Image

Apparently some school that "trains" "dog trainers" has their students do this to their young dogs. One of the students that went there is speak out against their methods but it makes me sad. I mean even if you don't know any better (which I'm sure the students didn't because they are students and there to learn) I don't see how anyone could go around inflicting pain on such young puppies.

A good way to make dog aggressive dogs is all it is ...

Yeah, stuff like that just pisses me off. Tolerance? More like making them associate pain with other dogs.

And on another note... Piper is adorable ^^ she sounds like a lot of fun.

Digging through our storage today to find some things to decorate the house with and I found some of our old picture albums! And guess whose piccies I found? :3 These are from 2004 so she would have been 3 years, I think. Open in a new tab to see full size.

The kittens are very sick in the above two photos. We had just adopted them.

Lolita's still overweight in the above pictures but not nearly as badly as she is now. She really does look like a chihuahua with an extra long body when she's skinny. We do have picture in particular that shows her in profile where she's at a decent weight. It's just a matter of finding it again. (A lot of our stuff got moved around and 'lost' when certain people moved in and we're only just now trying to find those things).

this upsets me a lot. how could anyone think of that as a good way to train a dog to be tolerant of others? what you should do is give the dog social interaction, that way it would learn how to behave better around them.

I think Clemmy is starving herself because she misses her dad... We haven't seen him since yesterday. But earlier she was laying next to me and kept hearing her tummy growl, even though her bowl is full. And just now I was laying down again, heard the growling and pressed my ear to her chest to make sure it really was her tummy. She's even turning down tiny pieces of beef jerky I tried to give her. -sigh- I'm going to try to move her food bowl back to where it was and hope that motivates her to eat (Moved it to my room so she could spend the night with me) xp I mean, she's showing interest in that she's guarding food from the cats and she will take the pieces but she won't actually eat them.

EDIT: Forgot to mention she's also begging for food when I eat. She's just not eating anything I give her. And I did just let her outside and she was eating grass (completely normal for her).

Could you try adding a bit of shredded carrot, or a bit of meat mixed in with her food? What bread does she eat again? Or a much simpler thing to do it add a bit of warm water. Lolita is adorable I love the ones with her and the kittens :3

She doesn't like carrot for some reason. I've tried giving her baby carrots before and she just leaves them around the house. Also, the only meat we have in the house is already in spaghetti... I could try hot dogs though. She loves hot dogs.

Clemmy eats Beneful (bleck) and we currently have Beneful Tiny Bites (I think it's the same formula as original, just smaller pieces). We did get a free sample of wet food recently. If I can locate it, I'll try warming that up and then I'll try the warm water if that doesn't work.

EDIT: Gave her an entire hot dog and she ate it after a bit of hesitation! yay!

EDIT2: And she's now picking at the food in her bowl :3 Yay for Clemmy not being a total butt like Loli is!

EDIT AGAIN: And now the neighbors a couple houses down are setting off fireworks! (And yes, that's completely legal where I live). How lovely, especially since Clemmy is sensitive to loud noises.

Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

I do not understand this at all. If they wanted to teach the dogs to become tolerant of other dogs then they should have let all those puppies off their leashes for some fun romping about. Dogs that misbehaved would get time outs maybe, but being able to play with a bunch of other dogs would certainly make my dogs more tolerant of them.

Anyway. So what I posted before, about my German Shorthair and my mistakes with body language, he is totally okay now. Playing like he usually does. In fact, he seems to have gotten much happier than he was before. He tries to follow me around the yard a lot, and comes running at me, and is licking me often. I think it is because I spend as much time as possible looking as relaxed as possible, as well as becoming very visibly excited to see him when I go outside and lowering to his level often and hugging him. He is looking me in the eye quite often, and definitely not in a defensive way. More like a curious one, I think. Anyway, I am super happy =D.

For my birthday on Saturday my dad and I are taking the dogs to the island for a fun walk on the trails early in the morning. I am a little afraid, because they are oooooh so untrained, but I think it will be fun. I'll put Poker's back pack on him full of water treats and doggy bags and hope for the best!

Oh, and I finally got a picture of my two dogs on the web

here!
