If you are entirely sure about this I would suggest finding a maltipoo (Maltese poodle mix) in a SHELTER. Not only are they cute, fluffy and soft, but...
• they are hypo allergenic
• their temperament and tolerance is AMAZING. I have one myself, and she never bites, growls, or attacks other dogs/people.
• full of energy, and don't need too much space
• easy to train, very intelligent
• not many health issues

But there are some dis advantages, be aware
• they tend to bark...a LOT.
• they get cold easily, so a naturally cold climate is not a good home.
• it's easy to step on them by accident (like all other small dogs) if you are not paying attention, but eventually they will learn to stay out of the way if you are walking.

collide with the sky -
Yep, we are considering all those breeds. Sooo fluffy and cute! <3

KeepAwaySeries -
maltipoo's are one of the ones we are really, really considering. I'll make a list of what has been suggested and what breeds are being considered. Will put it together in a minute <3

I have one myself, she's so wonderful, we got her from a local shelter <3 they are so good and tolerant around kids too, but mine tends to be submissive.

Being considered:
Conton De Tulear
Shih Tzu
Blognese
Havanese
Maltipoo
Chiweenie
Boston terrier/Chihuahua mix
Italian Greyhound
Just a plain old mixed breed
Possibly a Spitz

Suggested:
Yorkshire Terrier
Elo
Golden Retriever
Spitz
Cocker Spaniel

I really need to narrow down the 'being considered' list XD

A warning, chihuahuas tend to pick one person as their master, and label everyone else as enemies, various members/friends of the family have these and they are mean. Also, if you get a dachshund mix with mostly dachshund (meaning it is more elongated) I'd suggest puting steps up to the couch/chair if you allow it up there, they have delicate spines.

Thank you for tips and advice! I'm kind of leaning towards these breeds, though;
Conton De Tulear
Shih Tzu
Blognese
Havanese
Maltipoo
Mix breed

It would probably be hard to find a Chiweenie and a Boston terrier/Chihuahua mix at any shelters near where I live XD

If I had to pick, I'd choose Maltipoo, Shih Tzu or a Mix Breed. One of the many dogs in the park is a Cockapoo, and he is adorable!

NONE OF THE IMAGES BELONG TO ME!

I suggest a Wee-Chin/Bestie. A WestieXBichon. They are lovely dogs what can have traits of either parents. I have one <3
