spending to much on your pets

Postby renki » Sun Nov 11, 2012 9:04 am

Anyone else have this problem? I just spent in the last two days over $150 on two collars and a harness(that makes it easier on me to lift my old get into a truck that wont fit a ramp). Right now having the two collars custom made and am working through the details to make matching leashes.

Anyone else find themselves strangely addicted to spending to much money on their animal.

I reaallyyy need to get a good harness for Lucky... Or atleast a new collar. D:

I'm with you renki. Work has been insane . Usually we have time to let the dogs out together during the day but we like them to be supervised and were just too busy. On top of this the bf has been away working so poor Murray has been board as heck. So I have been sending him to daycare once a week (20$/day) then I had to buy him another collar for daycare because his usual one has studs and they don't allow that because its hard on the other dogs' teeth (20$.... Probably could have got one cheaper but I liked THAT one). Then because he was so board for a week or two he decided to destroy half his toys and ate a hole through his bed. So naturally I had to get him some new, more durable toys. I just put a blanket in his bed for now. My mum wants to get him a new one for Christmas (she has an odd obsession with cute pet beds) Ohhh then we got a new shipment of collars At work yesterday... Have my eye on one but I'm trying to resist....trying.

lol sorry about not being on more often now jobs been keeping my busy, but its been paying good. In my view its not paying enough sometimes though. I have made the switch to EVO but go between that and 4Health, all goes based on how much I have that week. Still getting bad, because I just got a cheap $50+ start up on a agility course for harley.

Cardinal have you tried stillwater kennel supplies? I really like their leather harnesses, but I did just order some custom collars from collarmania, wish I had known they had a sale but it ended last night.

If I knew that harley wasnt just going to mope around all day I would send her to doggy day camp as well evergreen. Also know what you mean about the collars, I could have gone for the $20 per dog but went for the costum $40 a piece and the $35 a piece custom leashes.

Speaking of dog beds, bellas is looking bad as well. lol I got to stop for a while at least though, accounts not looking to good. I have at least another week before I get payed :(

Lol I spend almost all my wages on my pets, I love buying things for my pets, more than what they need, my dogs have tons of collars they don't wear and toys and I pay to rent out a hall to do agility with my dog. I love buying stuff for my dog XD
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(

i spent $200+ on toys and a bed for my dog marty he even has 2 leads incase somthing happens to the other and a spare collar
i'm just thankfull his lessons are $60 a year the place i was going to go was $90 for an hour for 4 weeks for pups up to 13 weeks so he would only do 3 of the four then i would have had to wait 2 months before paying $120 for 50 mins for 6 weeks

his current lessons are one hour long and he gets on with most of his class pups their is one that jumped on him so he dosn't like her/him

I probably spend waaay too much on just monthly care for my horse, considering my life at the moment. XD Then add up all the stuff I have for her. Out of which most is probably needed(which I'm proud of, since I know with many horse owners the amount of stuff gets out of hand) but there's also stuff I don't use, like 3 nosebands, bell boots(I have 3 pairs, one pair I could afford to get rid off), couple bits, our old reins(still in one piece, but were too short). Then she has 4 halters and matching lead ropes...
If I would have more extra money to spare she'd probably get another two saddle pads and one cooler rug. And bunch of useless little junk.
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

The key is coupons! And finding free samples. Even so, I feel ya. I work for a vet clinic and get a discount, but my bill I owe them (we can charge and pay whenever) is about $500, but that includes two spays and a neuter along with dog food.
However, it's not always just food and fun things for your pet, I spend... One pet is on Prozac because he's bipolar, which is okay at 100 for $5. However, before he was one meds.... He would eat the blinds, destroy fences, detroyed his kennel, ate his bowl five times, ate his ThunderShirt once, ate my other dogs harness and leash, destroyed my pillows, and do much more. Haha! That's a Wolfdog for ya.
I would say I used to spend $200/month on replacing things. Now it's SO much less. Like $0.
I'm bad at Christmas. All five cats get a pres, both dogs, and of course the horse.
