Well my stables have them around the woods to keep foxes and stuff out. The horses are smart enough not to go in them. Unless the horse in anything like my cat.

I rode my boy over the past week. Previously e ha been sore and had visits the chiropractor. Now he is amazing, supple. He bends, collects and is easy off all aids. The last ride we had was at a hunter trial in the rain and during the warm up he acted insane. He bolted for the jumps ect. On the course he listened and was very bold, he reared when I tried to get him through the water jump but he is petrified of water and after a stern talking to we went through without a problem. I have had him since the 18th of December, 2011. I could never of wished for a better boy.

Whats your guys thoughts on shock wire/rope around pins and paddocks? My neighboor has two 16 hand geldings, and they have shock wire around their gates.

Not really sure I understand correctly. But if you mean the most commonly white(though seen green, blue and red as well) ribbon/line that has electric running through it then all our stable's paddocks/pastures are made from it. Keeps the horses were they are suppose to be(at least if the power is actually running) and if needed the fences can be altered fairly easily, plus the line is mostly re-usable.
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

All of my paddocks have them. Mainly to keep other animal out of my paddocks, All my guys know not to go near them. And if I ever get a new horse, They learn really quick. I like them because if I need to, I can split paddocks or make a little makeshift paddock on my front lawn. If horses dont get along or someone is sick. Plus it's reuseable if you have the white or colored tapeish fencing. This is my fenced in paddock. It has brown electric tape around it so if need be, I can make it small or bigger depending on the horses, or if the space is needed.

He carries me away from all my fears,

And when the world threatens to fall asunder,

His mane will be there to wipe my tears.

Hey guys, I got to ride my cousins ex racehorse, Breeze, yesterday! She's so sweet! She's a bit of a tricky ride because of course she's been trained to race and my cousins retraining her to be a leisure horse, not a racer. She has a problem with standing, especially after mounting and she got confused when I tried to turn her round and out right refused. I didn't want to yank on her mouth as she's really sensitive, and she kept spooking out at dogs and sounds in the field, so it made it quite tricky! I felt very stupid as she walked off and I wasn't able to turn or stop her. I wasn't being light with my halt aids either but she just outright refused to cooperate! Other than that the ride was good, all we did was go round the block, which made me slightly worried as I haven't ridden out for three years and roads aren't very appealing! My cousin was walking with me though because of course I didn't know where I was going.
I got to trot her up the lane, her strides are as smooth as silk! I felt so safe and comfortable and I felt the most relaxed riding I have been in a long long time. I was actually ready to have a canter, but then some woman just walked along the lane directly in front of me. Why? Why must you be walking along this long country lane, by yourself, not even walking a dog, at the only chance I get to canter properly out of a riding school x) I got a couple of photos of her too! I'll probably put them up at a later date :)

Electric fencing ~ I don't think there's a reason why electric fencing should bother people. It's not strong enough to hurt them badly, only enough to give them a little shock so that they don't go near them again. More of a psychological barrier than a physical barrier. Good for partitioning off slightly tubby horses who need less food, until the fence blows over/falls over and all the horses are in the same field and you have to catch them and put them back in their own section. Something else that happened yesterday x)

@Electric Fence Convo- My friend has electric fences and the only animals there that are dumb enough to go through it is her dogs they basically never learn fully. I don't see anything wrong with having them truthfully. Horses are quick learners when it comes to fences wither they are barbed or electric. What is the difference with having barbed and shock wire fences? Boomer and Cash's fences at the end have barbed. They never have once to get stuck with it only to the vines that I need to get rid of.

No! I love their videos and editing and pictures and well.. pretty much everything they do. xD
They're amazing though. I love how they're good riders, but allow their horses to have a personality rather than it always be work work work. They just let themselves have fun and I think that's something a lot of riders forget.
I see by your signature you are fan of them too? xD

Hai, i thought i'd re-introduce myself since this thred as been remade (:

I'm a teenager girl between the ages 15-19. Ive been horseback riding ever since i was 3 years old, It all started when i went on my first "Around the circle pony ride" As i grew older, i started taking lessons at Meadowlark Stables, Some of you may know it. I did a nice few long years there, i competed in many shows and events, I rode many horses, but on my last year, i rode Casper every class, me and him had a good bond and the teacher could see it (: I rode him all the time, and i did a few shows on him. Unfortunally i moved to a different province and had to leave the stable behind, I keep in touch with the instructors and i recently found out Casper was sold, heres some video's from the stable website (Yes, i have permission to show them) It's not me on him, it's a video they took to send the buyer of Casper.

I'm now moved and settled into a new home, ive been living here for 7 years now. I don't ride english anymore (sadly theres no english stables around) But i do work part time at a trail-riding and western training center, were i ride a 18hand clyde gelding named Storm, and i'm now working on a 17 hand Clyde cross named Prince. I've showed western a few times on Chance, a 16 hand pinto AQH and flicker, a 15.1 hand bay QH gelding.

I Love horses, they are my passion. I try to ride as much as i can.. my friend owns 3 horses, (a 2 year old currently 15 hand Appaloosa X saddle bred mare, Ameeka. A 31 year old black 14 hand newfoundland pony named Star. and a 12.1 black 5 year old (pregnaunt) minaature pony named Beauty... we usually ride old Star

Hi guys, first of all I want to appologize for my absence this year! I have been extremely busy with school and riding and that has taken over my life. I have hardly any free time D': I want to come on to say that I am fine, that nothing has happened, and I am not hurt or anything. I just haven't been active due to school and riding. I hope that everyone is doing very well with their riding and horses!
If you guys have any news to share, please let me know or PM me because I would love to hear how everyone has progressed since I have last been on.

Now, with that being said, I have had some changes in my riding career (in a good way). I am no longer riding and showing Shadwell...he was not a suitable equitation and medals horse. But, I did find a new mount, Memphis! Here's a little background on Memphis...he's a 17.1 hh gray Westphalian gelding. I have been riding him only since around the second week on April. We went to our first show which was a local show on April 28 and we won the 2'6" Eq out of 10 and were 3rd in the hunter hack out of around 13 I think. Good start (: Since then I went to my first ever AA rated show on him in the 3' Children's Hunters division (almost my first time showing 3') and we were 8th in the hack out of 15 much nicer horses and more experience riders.

Our most recent success was last weekend...at the oldest and one of the biggest/most prestigious AA horse shows in the entire country. It was a super stressful morning, as our braider didn't show up so we were running late and had to find a braider. Memphis had 3/4 of his mane braided (not too well either) and we were the only ones in the whole division (around 35 horses) without a tail braided. I have got to say, this probably ended up being one of my most successful shows ever. Memphy and I stepped into that huge ring and laid it down! We got very very high scores. We scored an 83 for our first trip, and when the announcer said that while I was doing my courtesy circle to finish up the course I started to tear up. To score in the 80's on my second time out in the 3' Children's Hunters was beyong imaginable. Then we got a 79 for our second trip score. My trainer was beyond amazed. He said I was spectacular and that he wanted to buy me something special for scoring an 83. That was better than the best score that anyone who rode Memphis previously received! We ended up pinning 5th and 7th in our trips out of 30+ of the best horses and riders in the country. Jogging to get those ribbons was when it hit me that I actually did this and I can compete in the "big league" with the better horses and riders. This was such an eye-opening experience for me. It just shows that even though it sure helps to be rich and have an $100,000 horse, custom tack, custom boots, and a top-notch trainer that determination, a passion, and hard work can really get you far. I am still on cloud-nine from that whole experience. In the trailer driving over to the show my trainer said that Memphis' nickname was "Memphis 81" because 81 was the best score someone got on him and getting an 81 can get you in the top ribbons...then he told me that "today 'Memphis 81' is 'Memphis 83'" (: I had the time of my life, and I hope to get pictures soon.
I really love Memphis so much, I think we make a pretty good team <3

I hope everyone else is doing great, and now that it's summertime I hope to be more active on here! Please keep me up-to-date on how you all are doing too. I would love to hear ;D

Mulligan, you make my world go round and I can't stand to see you go.
I'm going to miss you like crazy and I love you to pieces.
You are the love of my life and will always occupy a huge portion of my heart.
I want you to know how much I love you, and our 6 months together have been the best 6 months of my life.
You have been a dream come true and I have been on cloud nine since we first met.
I will never forgot all of the amazing times we've had together.
Enjoy your new home and promise me this, that you will never forget me, as I will never forget you.
