Filly, chestnut with star and snip. Super super pretty. <3 Also she's quite small, but that's good thing in my oppinion as she's half sister to Heta's foal. Who by the way started moving things along by having her temp drop quite low even though she was outside, not to mention tail is lot looser. So we are thinking she's going to foal soon, which is why I hang around at the stable until 4 pm, and I got there before noon. Why do I must have work tomorrow.... Also L was nice and normal today, so I suppose things are okay now...

@June Bug: Ha ha, never judge the horse by it's size. ;D On the video where there's two horses racing pace, the palomino set the world record to 21.84 with the distance of 250m(19.86 seconds is the old, now unoffical record). For 100 meters race the top scores are around 7 seconds.
Yup you are about right there. Icelandics could be divided into two types roughly speaking. The show type with flashy moves and very forward going(called vilja in Iceland) and then the pleasure/family/trail/lesson horses who usually have smaller movement(which makes them nicer and easier to sit on) and little less go maybe.

@Scarlet: Anything specific type of bits you need help with? Since there are TONS of different bits and it would take ever to explain them all. XD Basically type of bits are first grouped by their rings/shanks(like if the bit is a snaffle(there are couple types of snaffle rings, common being loose, eggbut and D-ring) or a curb for example) and then by mouth piece(single join, three piece, straight etc.).

Nice!

@newsie- jealous yoy have such a cool tack shop around! I only have nearby. The people are a bit snotty, the prices are sometimes way too high, but my breeches were priced good. And the carry high end things at high end prices x.x Bleh. But it's a decent set up. I just need a show shirt and coat and field boots now.

I fell of Sully yesterday.
I don't actually remember the fall all that clearly. I remember asking for a canter and then thinking, "oh crap I'm falling," but everything inbetween that is kind of foggy. I mostly just remember sitting up and wondering what the heck happened. Sully ran off but then he trotted back and sniffed me. I think he felt bad.
N told me that he bucked twice. They were HUGE, and she was surprised I managed to sit the first one. The second buck was bigger, and he twisted his body. I landed on his neck the first time, so I ended up going flying sideways and landing on the side of my back. I'm kind of mad that no one caught it on video, I would have loved to see it, lol.
My neck and back are really sore and I skinned my elbow, but apart from that I'm fine. I didn't break anything and i don't have a concussion, so I'll call this a success. xD

The rest of the ride actually went really well, haha. This happened right at the end. I remember telling N that I was just going to canter around the ring one more time and then cool him out. Famous last words, lol.

Monchele: Thanks :) Ooo, that patterns sounds like a lot of fun!

___________
Schooling was awesome! Robert was a little spooky in some parts, (the lamas, indoor arena, gates, etc.) but is wasn't bad at all. The worst was with the lamas, he could not get away from them quick enough. I did find that a crop would have come in handy, so I know to bring on of those to shows with me. The reason for the crop is for him being a bit sluggish and not wanting to get on the rail. Canter was beautiful. I felt like I was in a car- it was that smooth <3 After my ride I watched my friend M (she is the one who also rides him) jump Bobbers for a bit then we all hung out and talked while watching the others jump. A couple people from my barn were jumping around 3'6"! The XC course wasn't mowed so the grass was chest height :/ I was really hoping to see them ride it, but it was okay. I ended up spending about 4-5 hours there riding and watching lol =D

I will put up pictures later tonight from Saturday. I would put them up now, but I still have to sort them out and shade out my face, and I have to get ready to go to this party thing.

I ride english styles and have just started cross country training, does anyone have advice for confidence over more solid fences? I have been riding almost 7 years and have competed in showjumping and done some dressage but this is my first year hoping to get in the summer trials for cross country
~showjumping last year ImageImage

~excuse this height, was on inexperienced pony but currently working on 70cm~1m20cm and likely to try this height for cross country trials

thanks in advance (:

Aww thanks!!!! :) what is contesting? And I hope we can kick it up too. We only have 4 shows left for this circuit, and we may not be able to go to one or two of them. So we just really need to practice, and hopefully get to where we can kick some butt. Also, I like option e for the loping picture. He looks all nice and in a full stride lol, as in the other one he is about to reach out. It might be clearer for people to be able to see the full stride in a lope. I like option b for trotting. There is less in the background and you are angled more parallel with the camera, so it's easier for people to pick out how his hooves are placed and such. Your walk one looks really good too :3. May I say that I am uberly jealous of your greenery!!!!

@Oliviaoi:
For starters, make sure that when you do mount up, sit for a couple minutes before you ask him to do anything. Just sit there. We get the problem of our horses leaving out when we get halfway on all the time, because we always have somewhere to be and something to do so they want to get moving. So if you just sit for a few minutes they will learn that they don't have to head out as soon as you get on, they can sit and chill a while. And what do you mean "stop to dump you off"? Like bucking, or loping and stopping sharply so you fall over his head or what?

@Rodeo Queening:
Guys, the competition is on June 15. Holy cow. That's like barely far away at all. I'm buying my black saddle pad tomorrow. And I need to get cleaning on my tack. Omg. Anyway, I've been working a tad on my speech, and I've posted so far on here. If you guys could take a look at it and crit that would be awesome!! Thanks in advance!!

Sorry for the late answer, i haven't been on in a while. XD But he would gallop a few feet, and stop sharp suddenly, almost running into the camper thing my uncle has. And also, thanks for the advice i will try that!

@White Fang:
Yeppers!! I didn't go into much detail as I saw that Hime covered most of it. Actually a hackamore isn't really a bit, it's more of a headstall with a mechanical noseband. There's also a bosal, which I like more than a hack. A bosal is usually braided rawhide around a core with mecate reins.

@Blue:
Yeah Lyman's horse is pretty nice. It was great to see him progress into becoming a bridle horse. He only started him on a spade a little while ago. Also, I have a the Aged Bark and the black/blue deercow boots. I've ordered from horse.com before and they are great. It's probably that they just have lower prices. Because the boots aren't bad. They are just different prices at each place. I bought both of mine at a tack store and I think one pair was $75 and the other pair was $90 or something.

@Oliviaoi:
No problem!! :) my horse Queso use to do that a lot because the girl I got him from would run him home from the barrels straight to the fence to stop him instead of turning him. You just have to make some circles and wind him down. So when he starts taking off just start almost doing a one rein stop-don't let him stop just trot or lope some circles.

@Riding:
My friend and her little sister and I went out for a ride today. We rode on a piece of blm where I haven't completely explored-and she had never explored. Well we went pretty good and we started following along a creek and we were looking for a place to cross. We followed it for three hours and covered some miles but we never did find a place to cross. I couldn't see how deep it was as it was so muddy, but I could tell it was pretty deep. Other than that it was a great little trail ride. And we played the song rawhide all the way back to the ranch hahaha. I'm sure that long ride (riding with my left hand), was great for my arm, but whatever. It'll be alright!!
There's something to be said for a place that hasn't had all the rough rode out of it.

Smokey: Thanks, I think I will be getting them sometime before fair (it is in July, so I still have some time) because that way I have some boots that aren't my tall boots to wear when I ride in the fun show (you can wear jeans, tank top or T shirt, boots-very informal) and whenever I hack out there. How long do they hold up for before the boots are falling apart?

@newsie: thank you. I think sense I was really nervous at the start I messed up a lot and wasn't thinking strait. Now my home work for this week till my next lesson is I have to do different parts on the test.

My height to horse hight: Im a very short person "4'9" - "4'11" or at least some where around there. I can ride small ponies (13 hands is the limit) and big horses as long as there not draft. (A draft I rode before was way to much for me to handle. We were saying that he didn't know I was riding him. ) The biggest horse I have ridden was 16.1 hands. I prefer 15 hand horses sense my legs are right at there side and there easy to control.

(Sorry for any spelling mistakes I'm on my phone)

Horse to human size: I'm 5'2", so I would be 15.2hh, but I have really short legs, so I fit better on ponies. Peanut is the perfect sie for me, she's 13.9hh and my legs are a good fit to her sides. I rode smokey who's probably around 15.6-ish hands, I felt tiny on him...
