Do You Ride Horses?

Please read that again. I said that MY horse would turn into a crazy horse if I did that. I did NOT say that all barrel racers were crazy. If that's your thing, that's just fine, but JJ is far too excitable to do that, and was trained in pleasure and western dressage, not "rodeo" disciplines. Sorry for the offense, but please read more carefully before jumping to conclusions about what I said. I said nothing about all barrel racers being crazy.

Also, I know YOU aren't like that, but unfortunately, all the people I've ever interacted with in my area are. She comes to the barn "ready to ride" in short shorts, throws her horse around the barrels, that throws him back in the pasture wet. I've been at rodeos where there was blood coming out of horses noses after runs, and they just sat there looking miserable and wet afterwards. I'm well aware that all barrel racers aren't like this, but in my area they are, and all the experiences I've had with them have really not put them in a good place in my mind. All the ones I've met have had terrible horsemanship.

Please don't say "crazy rodeo horse" then. You said you don't really care for barrel racers, you could of at least said the ones you know instead of making it sound like everyone.

He would be "a rodeo" if I rode him like that. We tend to use that term around here. Like, if horse is bucking/spooking, a lot of times we say "Whew that horse is a rodeo!" or something similar, so this seems to be term misunderstanding rather. And I just don't care for barrel racers, it's all opinion. I just don't think they have particularly wonderful horsemanship, or that it takes particularly spectacular horsemanship to be a barrel racer. I also have issues with it because when ever I say that I ride "western" english riders seems to automatically assume that I barrel race, and indicate that they do in a negative way, thus I find myself having a natural dislike for it because I get mixed up with barrel racers all the time.

It's been a bit. I haven't been riding. Wahhhh. I'll get to on Wednesday though which is good. Soooo question for you all :3 just randomness. Lol.
What is your favorite type of riding to watch? Like show jumping? Barrel racing? Dressage?

And if you could have any 3 horses, what would they be?
I would want a beautiful dappled gelding. There was one at the old barn I rode at who was beautiful and was like a giant puppy.
I would also want a beautiful bay with only black socks and a white star on his face. And probably a TB c: cuz I'm a sucker for them.

@Scarlet: i think we had this discussion about what equestrain sports to watch but ill still reply. Anyway i like watching dressage and cross country but i do like watching jumping sometimes. And if i had any three horses it would be Mikey, who is a 7 years old, 15.1 hh chesnut throughbred gelding with fetlock markings on his back two legs. Then i would have an 8-10 year old tri-colored dark bay paint gelding named Blu and as for the third horse it would be a palomino quarter horse mare around 10-12 years old.

EDIT: Oh i forgot to mention a Fjord, i saw Blue put it and i remembered how much i love that breed i so wish we had them where i live!

Scarlet: I will reply too, but Milo is right we did have this topic, but that's okay As for the sports, I like hunters/jumpers, cross country, and and kind of rodeo events

As for breeds, I would want a fjord <33, a dapple gray ottb mare with a blase or star, and then my last one would be a dark bay paint horse <3

OpalWyvern- It's funny you mention reining horses! Poco is a retired professional reiner, and now he's a western pleasure horse. Which, are similiar to polar opposites if you think about it! Granted, I don't know how long he was a reiner or the training he had after to slow himself down, but it is possible for them to show in different disciplines.

That's really cool! I guess I more meant that you can't really have a horse who is a reining horse AND something else at the same time, since you need special shoes and what not XD

Ah... Hi :'D

I suppose I'll say a bit more about myself since I haven't posted on here before.
I ride Western, though for I while I rode English and Australian.
I hated Australian, but I didn't mind English.
I own a red bay, twenty two year old Arabian mare, who stands at a mighty fourteen hands. She has a blaze, two socks on her hind legs, and a white mark that goes up to her fetlock on one of her right front leg. Her name is Maddie.
Our color is purple <3
And tomorrow, I'll possibly become the owner of a six year old Paint/Arab cross.

I exercise horses for a lady that goes to the same horse shows as I do. Five horses total. Two Paints(Three? I don't know what breed the third one is), and a TWH.
As well as a little thirteen hand pony that has little man syndrome.

I practice natural horsemanship, and I've been riding for eight years- for six of those years I took lessons in Western Pleasure, for half of one I took English lessons because I did volunteer work at the barn.
Now I ride at home in the comfort of my backyard, and I'm hoping to start taking more lessons soon.

I currently do Gymkhana. (A discipline that receives a lot of hate, and in some cases I can understand. There are some bad people out there, but my group is thankfully one that focuses on horsemanship and safety.)
I'm in the FC Horse 14+ division- one of the slower divisions. Next year I hope to be in A.
