Nothing new going on with my life at the moment, same old boring stuff... Baby likes moving around and R said that today someone from the lessons might have actually seen it move in there. Which is possible since it was on the right side today, where as it was on left yesterday. XD Did quiet trail ride, which almost turned into not so calm as it was windy and snow was falling off the trees, and of course Heta thought it was weird. But no spooking, though once almost when we got caught in good snow blow but then she settled in to just freezing at one spot. Though when I turned around at the end of that trail she tried to bolt... -__- Though it was kinda pathetic try as I could feel her thinking about it as soon as I started turning her, so when she did try and run off I caught her before she could even take two strides. Nice that she listened straight away too. Then we had little discussion whether or not it was okay to run off and should we walk nicely or not. Then I let her trot just little bit and then we were cool for the rest of the ride.
Back at the stable I decided to clean out her paddock, which was pretty messy now that she's out 24/7. In the end I got 4-5 wheelbarrows of poo. XD Some piles were half burried in snow and some frozen too much, so I left most of those. Some frozen ones I was able to kick off, but it's not very nice on your toes. I really should have taken before and after pictures...

    @Winter riding clothes:
    It hasn't gotten too cold here, the lowest it's been when I ride is like 30 something. I wear:
    - leggings under breeches if it's super cold
    - knee high Zocks (don't do much for warmth, but oh well xD)
    - my breeches
    - tank top tucked into breeches, then a polo or sweater tucked into my breeches too
    - vest over the polo/sweater if it's 40-50
    - if it's under 40 I have an Under Armour fleece jacket that's really nice for riding in c:
    - SSG All Weather gloves (don't do much for warmth, but I like them c:)
    - if it's super cold I wear a scarf, they get in the way though so I usually don't wear them
    - and then my half chaps and boots.

    @Dolphin: Thank you :) yeah, it sucks, a lot. I was depressed all last summer and didn't want anything to do with horses because of it, but the Olympics came on and I was inspired again and started taking lessons and met Thinker :) I'm so sorry about you losing Mully </3

    @Blue: Thank you :)

    --

    My Dover catalog came today 8D I'm thinking about buying some bell boots for Thinker because he's been forging lately. I like the Davis ones, plus they come in hunter and navy, which are his colors c: And I found a nice grooming tote for $8.99, I need one majorly xD And in the inventory reduction there's Ariat Heritage Select field boots for $199.99! I ride dressage so I wouldn't be able to wear them :( but that's such a good deal. Dover catalogs are going to be the death of my wallet </3

@ Winter Clothes (gotta go did this out for tomorrow anyway, so may as well list.)

-regular tall socks
-thick wool socks
-flannel pajamas pants (that I no longer have because they ripped. Grr)
-jeans
-tall winter boots (if not riding)
-short winter boots and Half-Chaps (if riding)
-tank-top
-long sleeve shirt
-sweatshirt
-down vest
-heavy Old Mill jacket. I used to have a better, warmer coat that I wore at Darlas, and I could have kept it (completely on accident) because I wore it home once, but then I wore it again on another cold day and 'forgot' it there. I wouldn't have felt too bad if I ended up keeping it though. It's only fair. I got my chaps the same way. She let me wear them, I wore them home, and that was that.
-headband (with helmet)
-hat (without helmet)
-and gloves

It's really cold where I live. Tomorrow It'll finally be above freezing, so it shouldn't be too bad to work in. I've ridden in much colder weather, and for longer, so I'll be fine.

Tomorrow I'll be heading out there at 10, any staying until at least 2, maybe longer. It depends on if they have to go help someone with their farrier or not. Still, that's four hours, plenty of time for me to meet all the the horses that have come in since August. And I've decided that... if anyone rides out on the trails... I'll go with.
Odds are no one will head out though, so good chance I won't be riding.
Why do I

We've been through

@Blue:
Yeah. Exactly. It is just so super annoying. Then there are some people who are riding greenish horses in solid curb bits. It is so annoying, when we are working on turning, and especially if you have a green horse, you should be using a snaffle. Curbs are for finished neck reined horses. And some of the kids I talked to about it, and they would gladly change, but their parents (who "have been working on a ranch for years and know everything"), wont let them. Ugh.
There's something to be said for a place that hasn't had all the rough rode out of it.

my favourite event on mine is cross country and least is dressage as he has bouncy gaits, not smooth.

Same for me, I LOVE XC, even if the horse in front of me kept refusing so my horse decided he didn't have to either.. My least favourite event is SJ as I forget the course..

Favorite... Well gaited riding in general, so that involves loooooots of flat work aka more or less dressage. XD And then trails naturally(sometimes you need good gallop to let out some steam), but not sure if that counts. Least favorite, I don't have one? I don't do much jumping, since Heta doesn't really like it, so I guess jumping in a way. Though jumping little fallen trees out on trails is fun for both of us. lol
