Hobbies outside of Horsebackriding: I'm a horseback rider, I have no time for hobbies!
Art is pretty much my biggest hobby, drawing horses especially. I'm hoping to at least minor in art when I go to college. Outside of horseback riding it's pretty much my main passion.
Psychology- what i'm intending on majoring in. I find it fascinating.
Aaaand hanging out with the few friends who can tolerate my lack of free time and constant horse babble, lol. I'm a pretty solitary person, though, I'm about as happy sitting at hom drawing or using the internet as I am at the mall with actual people.
I also attempt to play video games, but it quickly devolves into button mashing, lol. Assasin's creed and call of duty are the only two I play somewhat reguarly.
Music; The Lumineers and Onerepublic are my current favorite bands. I could type out a list but honestly right now i don't have time! My music interests are pretty scattered, though, everything from rock to pop to folk music, lol. The only thing i tend to steer clear of is country, which is kind of a problem considering I'm a horse person. xD
And ill reply to people tomorrow, need to sleep OTL

I finally rode Jake! And oh my god, he's such a good boy. <333
The rest of today sucked. Probably one of the worst days at the barn I've ever had, but Jale more than made up for it. He's so adorable, it's hard to stay upset when he's trying to beg for treats. It's no wonder he's so fat, it's so hard to say no! I slipped into his stall when i had extra time because the farrier was doing a horse's hooves and the poor guy was really freaked out by the sound, and as soon as i started petting him he calmed right down. I may or may not have slipped him a treat or two. >.>
Unforunately one of the ponies at the barn was put down today.
The barn owner's brother owns two little old ponies that him and his friend bring to birthday parites. We call them the "party ponies", and they've been there ever since I started riding. They're really cute and fluffy, they live outside and honestly the owner never took particuarly good care of them, but we were all pretty attached to them. They've been at the barn for a long time, so I guess people are just used to having them around.
The poor mare was lying down this morning and looked like she was in a lot of pain, so the barn owner convinced her to get up and brought her to a stall. She just collapsed on her side and put her head down and refused to get up. She was in so much pain and refused to eat, they tried to walk her around and did everything they could for her but you could tell she was absolutely miserable.
The vet came and looked at her, and they decided to put her down. She had an impaction colic, and the vet said there wasn't anything they could do.
I can't even expain how awful she looked, one of the guys at the barn kept running to get water and food for her and she'd lift her head and then just flop back down. He was trying so hard to help her, but she was so weak. </3
I was tacking up horses throughout all of this, and we had to keep explaining to the little kids that the pony was sick and not to bother anyone near that stall because they were very busy and upset. One girl thought it was Molly, the pony she rides, and it was just awful. During one of the lessons my friend came over and told me that they put her down. I know I shouldn't be upset because we weren't even remotely close, but she was an incredibly sweet little pony and the sight of her laying on her side like that was absolutely heartbreaking.
No one even knew her name, because the owner wasn't there. They ended up just writing "Blackie" on the paperwork.
On, on a more selfish note, I spent the entire day being pushed aside and bossed around by my friend, "K." I love K, but she can be really bossy and stubborn and today I just didn't have the patience for her. I did my best to stay out of her way, but she'd always try to dump work on me and hardly talked to me at all.
I hurt my leg earlier in the week and couldn't quite walk or bend down correctly without being really sore and my leg sort of buckling out from beneath me, [i honestly should've been home] but I was so afraid she'd call me lazy that I spent the whole day hobbling around and bending over to put horses' boots on when she could have easily done it herself. I can barely walk right now.
So getting to ride Jake was really nice. The barn owner lunged him first and holy crap, this pony can buck! He was practically doing handstands, it was really funny to watch. His trot looked great but he gets super excited at the canter. We'll have to work on that. xD
K rode first [most of why I was annoyed at her- the barn owner said she should ride first because she's used to riding Molly, who's somewhat similar to Jake, and she kept bragging about it constantly] and he was a little goof ball. We were told to just walk/trot because he's only cantered once while he's been here and they didn't want to throw too much at him yet, but K could barely trot him. He was goofing off and being a stubborn, silly little brat because she wasn't riding him particuarly well.
He was such a good boy for me, though. He was difficult for K because she has very short, weak legs. My legs are really long, so I was able to wrap my legs around his [ridiculously fat!] body and really squeeze. He has a super nice trot, just bouncy enough to make posting easy but so comfortable to sit. I got him into a nice, forward trot and even though he was pretty lazy from both being lunged and K riding before me, he was absolutely wonderful.
Also, we did a really crappy side pass. My trainer was joking about how K kept hitting all his dressage buttons when he went almost sideways through a corner, [they just really weren't a good fit xD] and so when I got on I asked if I could try it. Trotting sideways is ridiculously fun, lol. I think he was happy to show off, too.
I can't wait to be able to canter him. Apart from the bucking, his canter looks really smooth and fun. With luck he'll be cantering by next week, and I can't wait! My instructor said that if things go well I should definitely look into half-leasing him, because we're a really good fit so far and she thinks I can learn a lot from him.
And seriously, have I mentioned how cute he is? 8D
