@M'ov~ Wow, you must have some pretty good falling-off skills to land on your feet ;D I always land on my head, and I've done a few faceplants. Glad you found it fun, it's better when t doesn't hurt ^-^

To both of you, Tag Along, isn`t that big of a pony so it wasn`t that big of a fall c;

My feet were about 2 feet above the ground, actually lol.

But atleast I landed on my feet for the first few times, it will probably be different landings later on xD

Hobbies. Well, riding is my life, pretty much. xD Haha. But I also spend my time doing things with friends, who are very important to me even if the barn and horses take up a lot of my life. I like to draw when I feel creative enough... I like to run, and I'm in my school's community service club so I do that too. I also LOVE photography, haha. Yep C:

    TWIN! xD FINALLY! Someone who's heard of Lana Del Rey! I love her songs! She has such a unique singing style. I looove Born to Die. I have seriously memorized it. Mumford and Sons and Florence + The Machine are both my other favorite singers. I also love Christina Perri and Coldplay.
    So... Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine, Mumford and Sons, Christina Perri, Coldplay, and Imagine Dragons... gah. Love them all.
    I love running and photography too! Sometimes my dad lets me borrow his really nice camera and I just go outside for an hour and photograph everything.
    I was on vacation a while ago and spotted a little dandelion, all alone, right next to this stream. This was the result. That was actually not taken with my dad's nice camera, though.
    I also enjoy writing. Well, I used to. I'm burnt out of writing from school, so I never write anymore. I actually used to be quite good at it, but school killed my creativeness and desire to write. D:

    I hacked today and it was great. Canter transitions were fantastic - that isn't a problem anymore. Sitting canter was fantastic. Equitation was fantastic, for the most part, and I even got some photos that I'll upload later. The one not so great part was the lead changes. It poured yesterday so all the arenas were full of puddles. I rode in the smallest of all the arenas, and of course half of it was covered in a gigantic puddle. So when we tried the flying change, we had to turn so sharp that it was like doing an extra tight rollback. Obviously I can't keep my balance perfect during that, so he cross-cantered. I think that once I ride in the big ring again, we'll get our lead changes. :3

Hey, I think this is my first time posting here, but I have been meaning to for a while...

I was browsing through and I didn't see any one posting about western!? Does anyone else on this forum ride western/equitation?

Anywho, thought that I would post some cute pics of baybe hemi .m.

Image

And a pic of present day hemi

Image

We bought him as a baybe. We sent him to a trainer, who got I think it was trainer or was it coach of the year?... Anyways she's really good around horses and doesn't take any s***. Hemis pretty pushy if you let him get away with anything so that's a biggy.

I quite like browsing this thread, lots of cute pics (;

(Ps: if the pics aren't working click on this

https://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&clie ... 3LqQH3lIBw

The pics of horses are hemi (a few years ago) besides the one with the cat (that's hemis sister))

@Hano and Rain- OMG Lana Del Ray, Florence and the Machine, Imagine Dragons and Christina Perri? I like Mumford and Sons too, just not as much. The first few are a handful of MY favourites too! How cool!

@M'ov- High five! The first time I feel was twice during one ride, too. And I walked out of the barn at the end and broke into a huge grin when I saw my mom. Too bad all falls aren't lol-worthy. One of my best horse friends lost a lot of confidence after her first fall.

@Sadie- Hi again! Nice to hear from you again :) Best of luck with the Bronson search yet again!

@pedunkle- There's a bunch of western riders here! They just aren't online at the moment I think.

@ Hobbies outside of riding

I have quite a lot.
Well I like to play tennis and I like to dance ( jazz) and I also play the flute.
I also like (read: love) to draw, especially horses!
Of course I like to go on the computer all that stuff, and I also like photography and film.
I collect Breyer Models. So sometimes that keeps me busy.
I also like to hang out with friends and family, and I LOVE to read. Like literally I'm a book worm.
I enjoy being around animals, hiking, and I live to write <3
Horses and riding is my life but I have many hobbies XD
Continuing, I like biking and just walking through the woods for fun.
Also sometimes I cook. Barely but I enjoy it :P
And lastly I like shopping.

@Sadie:
I hope you can work everything out with Darla and visit Bronson! Have you been riding?
And wow, your friend is TALL :o That's amazing that she can ride a pony that well! I feel so stupid on ponies haha.

@Rain:
OH MY GOSH SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS. ;_; Haha, seriously, NO ONE knows about Lana! I love her! Born to Die is great. My favorite is probably Radio or Carmen or National Anthem or Diet Mountain Dew... I don't know, I love them all. I know all the lyrics xD I love Coldplay too! I don't know a lot of Christina Perri but I love A Thousand Years. C:
Ahh, so happy to have found someone that understand my music xD
Whoa, that photo is amazing. o.o You could probably sell that, haha. I will have to dig out some of my pictures some day... I use my dad's fancy camera sometimes, but my iphone actually has a pretty nice camera and I always have it with me so I have some pretty cool pictures on there. Running is fun too. C: I love going to our state park and running on the trails.
I used to like writing, but like you said, school sucks out any desire I might have to write anything halfway decent.

I'm glad that you had such a fantastic hack! I can't wait for pictures!

@Pedunkle:
Welcome to the thread!
Tons of people on here ride Western! Smokeyiscool, OpalWyvren, MochaTheLlama and a few others, I believe. C:

Cute pics!

@Toppy:
No way! Another twin!! C: Isn't Lana Del Rey amazing? What's your favorite song by her?

Hello! c:

Well, I mostly ride Western, but I`ve started ride both Western and English but mostly Western c:

I kind of worried that I would lose some confidence after my first fall when I first started, but it didn`t happen. I think that falling makes a better rider too, since you learn from your mistakes. c:

And thank you!

@Hano
Ooo Willow looks nice! I always have to remember that the warmblood breeds and throroughbred's have long necks and don't collect like Morgans do XD Morgan's necks come right out of their withers and arch really nicely, so a collected Morgan has a rounded neck. Not to their chest obviously, but a very nice arc. I'm saying this be this because when I first looked at the pictures I was like "Huh? Willow doesn't look collected..." and then I had to remember I wasn't looking at a Morgan. She looks FANTASTIC! I can really see how she's engaging her hindquarters and pushing off with her back end ^_^

@Favorite Music
I really like
-Muse
-Simon and Garfunkel
-Of Monsters and Men
-Escala
-Callie Moore
-Fiona Apple
-Fleet Foxes
-The Black Keys
-Anything Celtic

I also really like Mumford and Sons and Florence and the Machine. I like Lana Del Rey too, but she's not my favorite XD

I know some of those are kind of obscure, but I have an odd taste in music :b

@Favorite Activities
Well, I see JJ three times a week and will occassionally miss school to do things for/with my trainer or to go to horse shows, so horse riding consumes a lot of my life! But, not all...

- I am a competitive runner and compete on a cross country team through summer and autumn running 3-5 miles every other day with my team and doing a meet (competition - 3 miles) just about every saturday from August to the end of October.

-I've been playing the violin for as long as I've been riding horses, 11 years, and take private lessons once a week.

-I actually go to a fine arts school and major there in Creative Writing. I'm mostly a poet but do some flash fiction and short story writing. It's a middle and a high school, but your required to audition to get in. I auditioned and got into orchestra my sixth grade year, but decided I didn't want to get any more serious about violin than I was, so I reauditioned for Creative Writing and got in, so I am now in Creative Writing for high school.

-I have a SCUBA certification and SCUBA dive frequently when on vacation; that's a big passion of mine since I eventually want to go to college for marine biology. Biology in general is my passion :)

-I admit, I'm also into video games. I really like TES Morrowind (My Favorite), Oblivion and Skyrim, but play a pretty wide variety of other stuff too, all medival RPGs. I don't like war games XD

@Pedunkle

Oo! Me! Me! Pick me! I ride western dressage and western pleasure XD You said you do western eq.?

@ Hano, no, I haven't rode since August. There really isn't anywhere to go, unless I want to get killed by my aunts horses. xD. They're all a little nuts, and only the oldest one (he's got to be in his 30s now) is broke to ride.
But I think I'm going to have my friend tell Darla that I'll come back if she just calls me and says 'hey, come back." No guarantee on staying, but I'd come back. As for my friend, her horse is the ONLY pony she can ride, and sometimes she ever falls off of him because she gets unbalanced. Actually, I think all of her falls have been from getting unbalanced off a pony, the lucky duck. I get thrown off all of the crazies, and she flips off because her horse stopped. Not fair.

@ Toppy and Bluebird, Thank! I'll give it one last shot. I know his owners name. I know where she works. I just have to be persistent and not leave without getting answers.

@ Fall topic, I think I've fallen off 14 times? Definitely say it makes you a better rider. All off my bareback falls taught me to stay on when a horse decides to play the "OMG IT'S A LEAF IT'S GOING TO EAT ME!" game.
let's see. One off my aunts pony, one sliding off while riding double and bareback for the first time, one from a pony who spooked at a llama, two from ponies tripping, one while cantering on a draft horse, one off a friends horse when the cinch broke, one that ended in a broken arm off a pony, one that ended in a concussion off a bigger pony, one from a three year old falling with me, three into the snow while messing around with a horse no one had ever fallen off of (I was teaching him to not freak out when people fall off, which was ironic because he kept throwing me off), and one that was more of an emergency dismount after stopping. So, yeah, I think that's 14. Wait, no, 15, when Henry bolted and dumped me off in a puddle of liquid poop. And there would be a lot more if it wasn't for horses correcting themselves and saving me at the last minute, or from remembering an older fall and correcting myself.
Why do I
j u s t i f y
what you did
wrong
to me?

horse pictures

We've been through
much together,
you and I
and I just
wanted to say
I'm sorry it ended
like this

These times
are hard
but they will
PASS

I'm sorry, Hudson

Hobbies outside of Horsebackriding: I'm a horseback rider, I have no time for hobbies!
Art is pretty much my biggest hobby, drawing horses especially. I'm hoping to at least minor in art when I go to college. Outside of horseback riding it's pretty much my main passion.
Psychology- what i'm intending on majoring in. I find it fascinating.
Aaaand hanging out with the few friends who can tolerate my lack of free time and constant horse babble, lol. I'm a pretty solitary person, though, I'm about as happy sitting at hom drawing or using the internet as I am at the mall with actual people.
I also attempt to play video games, but it quickly devolves into button mashing, lol. Assasin's creed and call of duty are the only two I play somewhat reguarly.

Music; The Lumineers and Onerepublic are my current favorite bands. I could type out a list but honestly right now i don't have time! My music interests are pretty scattered, though, everything from rock to pop to folk music, lol. The only thing i tend to steer clear of is country, which is kind of a problem considering I'm a horse person. xD

And ill reply to people tomorrow, need to sleep OTL

------

I finally rode Jake! And oh my god, he's such a good boy. <333
The rest of today sucked. Probably one of the worst days at the barn I've ever had, but Jale more than made up for it. He's so adorable, it's hard to stay upset when he's trying to beg for treats. It's no wonder he's so fat, it's so hard to say no! I slipped into his stall when i had extra time because the farrier was doing a horse's hooves and the poor guy was really freaked out by the sound, and as soon as i started petting him he calmed right down. I may or may not have slipped him a treat or two. >.>

Unforunately one of the ponies at the barn was put down today.
The barn owner's brother owns two little old ponies that him and his friend bring to birthday parites. We call them the "party ponies", and they've been there ever since I started riding. They're really cute and fluffy, they live outside and honestly the owner never took particuarly good care of them, but we were all pretty attached to them. They've been at the barn for a long time, so I guess people are just used to having them around.
The poor mare was lying down this morning and looked like she was in a lot of pain, so the barn owner convinced her to get up and brought her to a stall. She just collapsed on her side and put her head down and refused to get up. She was in so much pain and refused to eat, they tried to walk her around and did everything they could for her but you could tell she was absolutely miserable.
The vet came and looked at her, and they decided to put her down. She had an impaction colic, and the vet said there wasn't anything they could do.
I can't even expain how awful she looked, one of the guys at the barn kept running to get water and food for her and she'd lift her head and then just flop back down. He was trying so hard to help her, but she was so weak. </3
I was tacking up horses throughout all of this, and we had to keep explaining to the little kids that the pony was sick and not to bother anyone near that stall because they were very busy and upset. One girl thought it was Molly, the pony she rides, and it was just awful. During one of the lessons my friend came over and told me that they put her down. I know I shouldn't be upset because we weren't even remotely close, but she was an incredibly sweet little pony and the sight of her laying on her side like that was absolutely heartbreaking.
No one even knew her name, because the owner wasn't there. They ended up just writing "Blackie" on the paperwork.

On, on a more selfish note, I spent the entire day being pushed aside and bossed around by my friend, "K." I love K, but she can be really bossy and stubborn and today I just didn't have the patience for her. I did my best to stay out of her way, but she'd always try to dump work on me and hardly talked to me at all.
I hurt my leg earlier in the week and couldn't quite walk or bend down correctly without being really sore and my leg sort of buckling out from beneath me, [i honestly should've been home] but I was so afraid she'd call me lazy that I spent the whole day hobbling around and bending over to put horses' boots on when she could have easily done it herself. I can barely walk right now.

So getting to ride Jake was really nice. The barn owner lunged him first and holy crap, this pony can buck! He was practically doing handstands, it was really funny to watch. His trot looked great but he gets super excited at the canter. We'll have to work on that. xD
K rode first [most of why I was annoyed at her- the barn owner said she should ride first because she's used to riding Molly, who's somewhat similar to Jake, and she kept bragging about it constantly] and he was a little goof ball. We were told to just walk/trot because he's only cantered once while he's been here and they didn't want to throw too much at him yet, but K could barely trot him. He was goofing off and being a stubborn, silly little brat because she wasn't riding him particuarly well.
He was such a good boy for me, though. He was difficult for K because she has very short, weak legs. My legs are really long, so I was able to wrap my legs around his [ridiculously fat!] body and really squeeze. He has a super nice trot, just bouncy enough to make posting easy but so comfortable to sit. I got him into a nice, forward trot and even though he was pretty lazy from both being lunged and K riding before me, he was absolutely wonderful.
Also, we did a really crappy side pass. My trainer was joking about how K kept hitting all his dressage buttons when he went almost sideways through a corner, [they just really weren't a good fit xD] and so when I got on I asked if I could try it. Trotting sideways is ridiculously fun, lol. I think he was happy to show off, too.
I can't wait to be able to canter him. Apart from the bucking, his canter looks really smooth and fun. With luck he'll be cantering by next week, and I can't wait! My instructor said that if things go well I should definitely look into half-leasing him, because we're a really good fit so far and she thinks I can learn a lot from him.
And seriously, have I mentioned how cute he is? 8D
