@itsaTWthing: Hi, welcome to the thread :) I ride a TB too! I'm a dressage rider, what would you like to know about it? :)
I had that problem of folding my ankle in, too. I found that putting equal weight into both stirrups, stretching down into my calves, and not posting as big helped. When you feel like your ankle is folding in, go into two-point and your heel will naturally come down and you'll get a nice stretch. It helps so much. As soon as I get on I go into two-point at a walk for about two laps. When you start with this every time you ride, muscle memory kicks in and as soon as you get on, your heel will come down. :)

@Opal: Oh thanks for the tips i will definetly use them. I hope they will let us come by and i can show them that i understand basic knowledge of horses and have ridden before. This place looks wonderful and the horses their look like they are in good shape. I probably won't have as much freedom as the rescue since this is a boarding facility but id rather be treated better and be able to actually learn.

Im glad to hear things are going well with JJ and sizzle. Its great that he finally got to canter and that you get to go to the Nation Western Stock Show, i would love to go!! Do you ride Sizzle in both english and western?

      hey guys! newbie here cx
not to horseriding, however. only to the thread. I've been riding for some six eight years now, and have been enjoying it since the beginning. currently, I'm the proud owner of a Dutch Warmblood, my little boy <3 x - x meet Uncle, an eleven year old Dutch Warmblood, with a talent for eating carrots, breaking brushboxes and getting off his blanket without any human help (his best friend Vally will do it for him cx). but, as Uncle is a horrifying name, we've recalled him Dylan, which fits him around a thousand times better. he doesn't listen to his name, so we don't have to worry about that c:

anyways, have had a riding lesson yesterday, from my main instructor, and I've ridden him thursday as well. we're currently working on dressage, relaxation under the saddle, bending his neck and that stuff (I have surely no idea what that's called in English, only in Dutch), and I had so many blisters on my fingers after thursday (I hadn't even had a lesson), which were even more horrifying in the lesson, so I kinda replaced my reins so they wouldn't hurt cx
have been there today as well, and he's doing so much better than before <3 I love my little horsie c:

@Milo
Yeah! I'm super excited too! The NWSS is only about an hour and a half from the barn, and I just love the energy there. Everyone's so happy and friendly XD

Well, I will always start a horse western. It just provides extra security for me when they're still chargy and fast, while on a youngster, I feel like if I tried to break them in an english saddle that I could just fly out of the saddle if they decided to throw a buck or take off. Anyways, yes I ride him both western and english, but will be swicthing over to mostly english pretty soon now as my goal is to work and show him in hunter-under-saddle eq.

@Snowface
Welcome! It is always nice to see advanced riders around! Dylan is ADORABLE. Look at that sweet face! He sounds like a character too XD I believe that we would call bending his neck Flexation" or "Flexing" or just "Bending".

That was interesting... I rode for about 30-35 minutes in the rain (I wanted to ride before the rain started, When I went in, no rain, when I came out, raining cats and dogs). And as soon as Bella started to behave and put her head down (and collect! ouo), it was raining in sheets and water was running down my visor and into my face. The good news! Bella's water-proof quarter sheet is INDEED water proof! The bad news... My supposed water-proof jacket proved itself not. And I was out in the rain for over two hours!

    Right guys, i need advice.
The only riding i do now is Polo, and it is helping with my seat etc, but i want to do more xc and showjumping. Eventing is where my heart is.
I have been offered by my friend from my last school to go ride with her, and her mum is an instructor and a strict one, who pushes you
    What i need

But, we got offered about 3months ago and my mum was like 'yeah, we'll do that'
    But, nothing has happened.
And then i was this close --> __ to sharing Toffee, but Z disagreed and said no.

So now i have to wait till
    1. Z goes on holiday
    2. Z goes to boarding school and i look after him
    3.Summer

Then i found the PERFECT horse to loan, and we knew the owners and they said all we would have to pay is the Farrier bill. But then my mum called a huff and said 15.2hh was too big.
    I flipping ride 15.2-18hh horses.
    Then i found Monster
    13.2hh Welsh Pony

    My mum was like YES
    Then the next day
    NO.

Its really knocked my confindence, not in riding, just my confidence overall.
And now i can never raise my hopes up, as i know i'll be let down...

    Helppeh
Any ideas for how i can prove my mum i am capable of owning a horse, i did get some birthday money to pay of loaning...
    So...

@Opal: That is so awesome that it is that close! I can see why you would start it western, i would too if i was triaining. That great is that you will soon put an english saddle on him, i hope everything goes well. Also i want to aplogize for my ranting, i just got so angry.

@snowface: awww you horse is adorable. Ouch i hate blsiters on my hands, it's like it hirts sometimes to touch anything.

@Scarlet: awww he is so cute!! I hope you get to lease him too!

@Carbon: Hahaha an un water proof coat!XD Though i can never ride in the rain, i find it really uncomfortable.

@Cavey: Hmmm thats tricky, but i dont think you should lower your confidence. I know how it feels when your about to do something or get something great and then someone says no. In the end it's sometimes your parents or the owner who makes the decision on some of the things you can and can not do. Myabe try searching for some other horses. If not i would wait till the summer for Toffee since you have ridden and known that horse better and would be more comfortable riding him. Plus in the summer you have no work to do and can be with him longer.

@Opal: Aw thank you! :) It means a lot :3 Thinker's helped me through a lot, he taught me how to love another horse after my horse's death, he means the world to me <3 If we do good in shows this spring, I'm going to talk to my instructor about half-leasing him, I think she'll say yes since I'm the only one who rides him now :3

@Snowface: Welcome to the thread :) Dylan is adorable!

@Scarlet: Aw, Phinneus is so pretty :) I love his name too!

    --

Asdfghjkl; six more days until I get to see my goober and until my next lesson :) And one week and six days until the expo! :) Hopefully I can find a show helmet that's not ridiculously expensive, white full seat breeches, more polos, a new saddle pad for Thinker, and maybe a fly bonnet for him. :D
