Hello guys! I read everything between here and my last post!
@Fate
I think all the photos looked really nice as well, but in the third one, even though it was higher, it looked like your release was a little big. There was another where your heel could use to be lower, but I really like how Mystic looks over a lot of them C: her knees and back legs both seem to be really even the majority of the time, and she looks pretty scoopy too C: I can't critique prefectly since I'm not a jumper, but I didn't see anything major like hollowing your back or your leg moving when she takes off. A LOT of jumper have really nice eq. up until the jump, and that their leg slips back, but your leg looked great in the pics!
I actually couldn't watch the video since it wouldn't play on a mobile device and I opperate off my Ipad, but I watched some of the others. I know they were older, but I noticed that both your hands and legs moved around A LOT on the flat and at the trot and canter. The problem with your leg moving around a lot is that it bumps the horse and desensitizes her or him to cues. Then when you actually ask for something, the horse is like "Wait, huh?! What!? Your actually asking now?" and the response time is dulled. That's why so many lesson horses get "leg dead"; they've been bumped and kicked in the side for years on end. Your heels were pretty down, but I think really stretching into them and making sure your entire leg has contact with the horse would keep it from moving around to much C:
Your already said this yourself. but you have a tendancy to pump with your arms. Really bring your shoulders back and your elbows in. Your upper arms should come straight down from your shoulders, and then the lower arm should make a forward angle with the reins so that your lower arm and reins make a direct, straight line to the horses mouth.
@TO THE WESTERN TO ENGLISH CONVO.
It's actually kind of funny, but within different breeds, the expectations of western pleasure vary. In the Morgan breed, your not gonna do so hot if you horse doesn't have impulsion. You have REALLY got to make your horse step up under himself and put his haunches into action if you hope to even so much as TOUCH a ribbon XD. Letting your horse drag his feet through the dirt at 000.1mph with his head below the withers might be acceptable in quarter horse classes, but not it Morgan classes. It's challenging, because you have to retain the same impulsion as an english horse at less than half the speed. I'm not sure what you were taught western, but I'm hoping you were taught a little collection and impulsion. In the Morgan world we call QH Western pleasure horses "Penny pushers" because their noses are so close to thr ground that they could push pennies around XD Morgan western pleasure riders are generally not big fans of the western QHs
