Hey guys, I need help. My oldest and dearest sword, Emilee, has a weird white band over the top of her head. I need to know what it is so I can make it to away.

How many gallons is your tank? : 20g

How many fish and what types are they? : 6 swords, but she's currently in QT until I know what's wrong and how to cure it
How long has it been running? : 7 months

Did you cycle it? : yeah

If possible what are the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels? : not sure...

I'm no expert, but it looks like ick or fungus to me. Have you tried fungus killer?

@Celebi I don't think it's ick, cause that would be lots of little white spots over her body. She only has one white band across her head.

Hey guys. i might be independant studying small animal and vet. before my current teacher was here, they used to do fish care, but now they do rat care instead. Since i aced it freshman year, it would become an ind. study if i took it again and it focuses on a certain branch of vet work and/or animal care, and i was thinking of seeing if i can do aquatic care/ vet work if there is such a thing, because, i guess... i have a bit of a passion for fishkeeping.

There are fish vets. They mostly work for aquariums,marine parks or even as marine biologist.
Its what I want to offer in my vet clinic. Along with being a marine biologist (honestly im on the fence on what route I wanna take). Either way fish will be in it.
Your best bet is to go to an aquarium and ask one of the workers who take care of the fish. Also do lots of research on EVERYTHING. Thats how I know a lot about goldfish, lots of reading.
You could also get a job at a petshop in aquatics. I have been trying that for awhile, they are really picky.

Nothing says that if we don't answer, you can't look somewhere else for help.
We don't always reply, especially if we don't know what the problem is. The wrong advice or ideas can be just as bad as no advice.
Next time if you have a pressing matter, go to fish forums or do some searches as well as posting here.
Now, to try and help you, it could just be that she was old. But I don't know. It's why I didn't answer. >.>

My ten gallon tank is tea colored. >.>
I know it's from the new mopani wood or whatever.
I soaked it until the water was clear.
Now my tank looks like tea. /flails around/
I do a water change and it is fine for about a day, then it just goes back.
