Thank you to whoever it was that messaged me and asked if I was sure that all my sorority girls were female. I always watch my sorority very closely and although I had suspected it myself, I wasn't entirely sure...

There's no doubt now that the fish in question is male. I put a divider up in the tank to give him his own space and he's doing very well. He was flaring up a storm today and I'm so excited to watch the little guy grow! I've named him Mira.

He's very pretty, his ray's are going to fan out VERY nice.
I've had pet stores sell me "females" all the time and they turn out being baby males. I'm glad you caught him in the act of flaring, other wise he might have tore up some of your female's!

I have a male Betta. To be honest I don't think I've ever given him a name though. I have thought about it a lot but I just can't find 'the one' for him. I've had him for 7-10 months maybe closer to a year now. I can't remember as I didn't get him on any special day or around a Holiday or something. I have had him for a very long time though ^^

Ever since I first got him, and put him in a 1.5 gallon tank. {Everything was in check, etc}, then later when I had more money to a 2.3-5 Gallon tank, he's just lay on the bottom and only come up for air. To be completely truthful I've never seen him eat though he would of had to to live this long so I assume he eats at night when it all falls to the bottom. He's mostly inside the Crocodiles Skulls mouth {Obviously an Ornament} no days but he used to at least stay out in the open even if it was the bottom. Maybe once or twice a week you see him come up for air {Though on occasion when you walk in he is swimming but will go back into hiding as soon as you come in.}

Other than hiding 24/7 he looks entirely healthy and A-Okay but recently I noticed that he's getting 2 vertical marks on his left side right were his body bends. It looks like someone cut him or pulled the scales up and it looks a little scabby and is lighter colored than everything else {Other than the white tips on his fins}

Is something wrong with him? Is he getting old, why has he always been so lazy? I'm sure I could stick any fish that a betta would normally kill in his tank and he wouldn't do anything at all about it. Even another Betta I'm sure. {I would never do that as the other betta would kill him but you understand what I'm saying}

I'm glad I caught him too. He wasn't causing any problems when I separated him but I'm glad I got him out before he could! My females are all fine and seem to miss him, but they can still see each other so they're just going to have to get used to it, haha. It might just be my imagination but I swear his fins are getting longer by the day. Anyone have an estimate to how old he might be?

One of my bettas has been like this ever since I upsized him to a five gallon. No scales or anything missing; just very lethargic, hiding (he has a castle), and not eating/swimming much. I even put a baby platy in there in hopes of perking him up. He followed it for five minutes or so, but he's gone back to hiding. Before I moved him he was fin nipping but not lethargic at all. The nipping isn't as bad anymore but he's always hiding.

Hey guys, I need help. My oldest and dearest sword, Emilee, has a weird white band over the top of her head. I need to know what it is so I can make it to away.

How many gallons is your tank? : 20g

How many fish and what types are they? : 6 swords, but she's currently in QT until I know what's wrong and how to cure it
How long has it been running? : 7 months

Did you cycle it? : yeah

If possible what are the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels? : not sure...

Hey guys. i might be independant studying small animal and vet. before my current teacher was here, they used to do fish care, but now they do rat care instead. Since i aced it freshman year, it would become an ind. study if i took it again and it focuses on a certain branch of vet work and/or animal care, and i was thinking of seeing if i can do aquatic care/ vet work if there is such a thing, because, i guess... i have a bit of a passion for fishkeeping.

My freaking ten gallon (That I got for my male, got it from craigslist) IS FREAKING LEAKING REALLY BAD NOW.
Augh. I guess I'll find that old divider and divide my (newer) ten gallon that my two females are in so he can stay in there for a bit.

I'll have to grab a five or ten gallon from walmart next time my husband gets paid I guess.

Sort of. You'd probably have to look into it with a public aquarium or something, since aquariums and sometimes koi owners are about the only ones who ever use services like that.

Since Fallow has died, I am wondering, how many African Dwarf Frogs can live in a 10 gallon? I already have one male in there, Ripple.

My Ryukin Goldfish, Gizmo, had been kind of hanging out at the surface and having floaty issues the last few days, even though she eats sinking pellets. The other day I noticed her skin was kind of like peeling? Last night she got stuck on the filter and eventually got off (I cant reach the filter with a net) and she died during the night I have no idea why my fish would be having floating issues. They eat sinking pellets only and have no reason to be gulping because their tank is kept very cool.

Your fish's names:welll we do not really name our fish but i call my jawfish "paranoid " because- well....look at him- he just- has this face- he looks paranoid
How long have you had fish:well i had lots of fish when i was little ( i had a small freshwater tank ) and i had some fish there.... and so wheni was like - 9 or 10 i decided to ask my mom for some starfish in a saltwater tank-it amazed me - all the colors ♥
