What is your opinion on keeping a snowflake in a 55?
I have seen mixed info on it. Some say its fine since they dont really come out, others say that since they get so big they wouldn't be able to swim around if they wanted to.

I love the dwarf but I am worried I wont be able to find one and if I do I will have to over pay or I may have to ship one.

I love hermits, but they freak me out a bit. XD I have no clue why though.

I'd do it.
Personally if I had a 55 and was going to make it a moray tank I'd go with a fimbriated.
My snowflake was in a 40 for the longest time and was totally fine. c:

So many options and I am so indecisive! x.x
I guess I will just worry about setting up the tank for now. I really like the idea of keeping fish in there too. My Bf already complains my goldie tank is too bare. XD So more than likely the dwarf but if I cant find one then I am getting a snowflake.

I am so excited!!

I just have my 3 goldies in the 110 for now. I wanna grow em out before I add anymore, so it is quite bare looking. My bf was disappointed when I said I was gonna put bubble eyes in the 55. I told him I wanted a eel instead and he actually got excited a little bit. I have always wanted one but didn't know of any that small. Now that I know I just have to have one.

I tried planting the 110 but the goldies are part lawnmower. XD So until I get some perdy fake plants or.more anubis( I killed my last one, I forgot I had glued it to the rock again and left it out over night.) its gonna stay bare.

Haha!
My large red and black oranda likes distroying my plants, uprooting the smaller plants that haven't rooted properly and ripping leaves off the anubias and java fern... he doesn't eat them though just rips them apart lol
The only thing he seems to leave alone is a large crypt so I'm trying to find another lol
My other plants (two smaller crypts, an anubias and java fern) are in my other 75G goldy tank

I'm now also setting up a 40G to house another two goldies

They are so addictive! How can you still only have 3? Lol
How many are you planning on having on your 110G eventually?

So I got some cherry shrimp a little while ago thinking they'd be fine in my community tank. Turns out I was wrong. My biggest swordtail is enjoying what I think is the last one at this moment. And I'm pretty sure the other deaths are her fault too.
Shame because those little buggers where quite expensive. :/

Anyway, any shrimp you guys would suggest that's better for my tank?
Thank you. <3

I may have some salt then, the stuff they sold me when I had my lip pierced all I can remember it saying on the bag is 'pure salt', I'll try and find it & check before I use it.
tested my water, the reading were:
ammonia: 0
pH: 8 damn, thats high...
KH: 100-180
GH: 50-100
Nitrate: 50-100
for those three, the colour was sort of inbetween, so i coudlnt decide which
Nitrite: 0

Theyre all still active, and seem healthy enough, so whatever is is doesnt seem to be affecting them... and deffinatly cant see anything wrong with my betta, he's even developed some blueish/green scales along his back that match his tail/fins

sorry to bump this up again, I just dont want it to get lost & ignored

Most fish adjust to high PH just fine as long as it is stable.

Your nitrates are super high. I try to keep mine below 20. A good, big water change will help that.

I've never dealt with any kind of fungus, so I really couldn't recommend any meds that may help with that.[/quote]

i'd still prefer to get it down to 7, I can remember someone once telling me rummies were hard to keep because of something to do with pH, I cant remember exactly what he said...but this was coming from a guy whos aquatic shop had just shut down, and honestly rummies are the hardiest thing Ive ever had...
and Ive heard of bettas getting finrot in high alkaline water.

How big a water change? 50% or more?
I wonder if the filter wool is blocking the flow abit, I'll take abit out & see if that helps aswell.

I'll use the melafix, I think its treats pretty much everything.

I just put my Beta boys in bigger tanks (5 gal.). They were in a beta tube and a small beta view bowl (don't get after me, I've been in the process I moving and my other tanks are in storage due to space). I want to get live plants for them an I want to get either a Cory or a alge eater (a small one).

Any suggestions?

Btw, they are in separate tanks of course. And they are both really happy. They're swimming around and looking at me. Shou has already claimed the Japanese house ornament as his own and Ryuu has claimed the Triceratops Fossil as his own. XD

They are both in 5 gals then?\
I would suggest, for the cory/algae eater, that you get two oto's. I have two otos in my 5 gal with my betta boy. Just make sure you put the oto's in the tank for a good few hours and put the betta somewhere else and then put him back in. I heard if you do that, he'll think that they were there first and he'll more likely leave them alone. Maybe switch things around in the tank while you're at it to make it look like a brand new territory too. And make sure there are LOTS of places for them to hide and get away from him. Wendigo, my betta boy in the 5 gal, chases them around until he looses them in the plants and ornament, and he'll only chase them if they are on the glass (sometimes not even) or he spots them on the gravel. He only chases them like f or 6 times a day, for about 10 seconds before he loses them. So they aren't stressed out that much, but yea. I suggest oto's.

I shall try Otos if I can find any.:)
What kind of live plant would eventually give enough foliage but wouldn't grow very tall? I've seen the moss balls at Petco....but they kinda creep me out...0.0'

I'm having trouble deciding. I'm going to get a 29 (so basically 30) gal tank and I'm trying to decide between two fish species. Goldfish or Chichlids. (Yea, I know I spelled it wrong. I'm sick and all I want to do is go to sleep so I'm not going to bother looking it up) Which do you think I should get? Goldfish or Chichlids? I love the colourfulness of the Chichlids, but I love goldfish and their personalities. I just. Ugh. I love them both, and I can't decide. Help, please?

I am about the same here lol. Oscars are a big nono I have kept them and lost more money than I thought on the thing. there are some cichlids that are much more docile and small(like rams). goldfish are neat but I got rid of mine out of pure boredom (day in day out all they did was eat lol). I have a 29 gallon and I do not know what to put in it...if it was a 200 gallon I know what to put in it but... has anybody kept African butterfly fish?

If I were to get Cichlids (Looked up the proper name, lol. Only one letter off!) then I would be getting
(The blue one)

Let me know any information about Cichlids, as this would be my very first time keeping them. I'm familiar with goldfish though, as I've owned them before.

the cichlids are all mbuma cichlids. they are smaller old world cichlids (getting about 6 or so inches up to 10 inches). the goldfish are a little different...split tail goldfish (moors and bubble eyes) and single tails (comets and commons) do not mix easily because split tails are slower than single tails(meaning the split tails might not eat enough). you can try but I would not. I kept "feeder" comets(really just commons with slightly longer fins) and they all got along but my tank is not set up for split tails with is fans and such lol.

Oscars are for the most part pretty docile fish. They just are super excitable about food, and people take that as aggression for some reason. Mine lives with angelfish and small gourami and has never given them a problem before.

Anyway, african butterflies are pretty fun. You just want to keep them with other really docile slow moving fish, and have a lid on the tank with no gaps. A lot of them are pretty stubborn about eating things that aren't live insects or small fish, but you can usually train them onto frozen food or etc.

the one I had was 2 inches long when we brought him home...in an hour he had killed a six inch catfish and lost his eye. in a week he killed his fellow Oscar. he then killed a pleco, then he killed another Oscar, and the last fish he killed was a six inch pleco.

as for the butterfly I have always liked them but when I went to the only pet store that sold them they told me that they are discontinuing them :( .
