does anyone on here keep "oddball" fish? I like the large oddball fish like gar and bichir. I would own them but my 29 gallon tank says no lol.

I kept a largemouth bass I caught once. (In a big enough tank of course) all it did was become possessive over a decoration I had in the tank....and stare at me.

(I love to fish [catch and release]) but....I mainly catch the dumb turtles who have figured out that if they steal my bait with just the tip if their beaky mouth the hook doesn't hurt them. I can reel in the line and ill have this little turtle hanging into the bait (not the hook) and drop off as soon as I get the lure out of the water...then they just stare at me. So much for being a "great fisherman"...

Now...back on topic.
When breeding a Betta (cause I really want to breed Shou) how and when should I introduce the female and (if) there are any eggs afterwards, how soon should I take them out and into separate containers/tanks?

You introduce the female after the male has claimed the spawn tank as his territory. Some breeders will let the female loose immediately, and some will float them for anywhere from a few hours to a day. You do NOT remove the eggs.

Whenever he is ready. You can keep him in there for as long as he is being conditioned, even. But after the eggs are laid, he will care for them until the fry are free-swimming. Then you remove him.

Yes, you do. If you don't the male will scare off, and potentially kill the female.

Could i have betta breeding help, too?
I just put my bettas in the same tank together today, and the male was slowly moving towards the female with his gills fared. The female was freaked out and trying to get out. Is this agression, or breeding behavior?

If I tried to breed Ryuu, he would run away from the female. Lol
