Whoever asked me which one I chose, I think it was Dolphin; I chose the one with the big dressage arena and XC course- the first one I went to see.
It went pretty well. I rode in a dressage saddle for the first time on a Thoroughbred named Joe. He's a trained dressage horse, but also does hunter/jumper, which is what I'm aiming to do. He apparently knows flying changes and how to do a half pass though.
I learned so much that I was never taught before, it's really formal riding, what I'm learning now, more so than just learning to stay on, if you know what I mean.
I'm definitely going to feel this tomorrow... everywhere. xD I had such a good time, though- my trainer really knows her stuff.
I'm also considering doing a lease there and not with Charm anymore. It's horribly sad but it's what I need to do to look towards my future. Charm is a great horse, but he just doesn't have the knowledge and the barn doesn't have the facility I need. I'm looking for doing an equestrian minor and be on the team in college, and that's two years away, and I wasn't aware at how little I knew because I've never been taught this formal riding really, mostly just group lessons and other lessons that focused more on the horse and not me.
But anyway, I got video! They will come soon if anyone has made it to the bottom of my post and wants to see... xD

Dolphinlover~ wrote:@Pep: You're welcome! I am just glad that the advice was useful. That's fine and understandable and it takes a while to get used to jumping, especially on a horse that overjumps and launches himself into the air xD Oh that was fine that your reins were long, because it is really important not to catch a horse in the mouth when jumping. That is super uncomfortable and it causes discomfort for the horse. That was good on your part, but as you learn how to release and have a better feel of the jump, then you can shorten your reins and release instead of having them super long :3 Good job overall though!

She was quite an old horse, but not long before she died she was trotting about the field. Her death was so unexpected and so far I don't know what caused it. Though she wasn't used in the riding school, Fleur was an amazing and beautiful horse and gave life to six foals, three of which are still kept at the riding school, and she went far too soon. Please pray for her, as she will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace, Fleur <3
