I'm so sorry that you've been going through this. ;_; I've kinda been feeling the same way, but not exactly. That's a long story, though.
My suggestions for you are to first have a talk with your trainer. Doing that might be hard for you if you're not super close, but I'm sure that your trainer will understand. You need to tell her how you feel - about how you don't think you're progressing, how you really want to be jumping, and how you want to be riding harder/better horses. Honestly, she might not have any idea that you want to be jumping or riding Harry and etc... If you seem content to be riding Major 24/7 and don't speak up about wanting to jump/show, there is no way for your trainer to realize that's what you want to do. ;D You've got to advocate for yourself. And if your trainer doesn't give you a good explanation for why she hasn't been letting you do more advanced things... then it might be time to look for a new barn. I know how impossibly hard that can be, and I've been there, but believe me - in many cases it's for the better.
@Dolphin:
Don't feel bad about your riding! I don't think that anyone here thinks that Mully is a pushbutton or that you're a bad rider. Mully is well trainer but he's no where near easy, and you are such a fabulous rider to go to all of those A shows and win all of those ribbons! I wouldn't feel comfortable showing 2'6 right now, but can handle that like a pro. <3 Maybe you don't get the chance to ride greenies, but I'm sure you would do fine. C: You're a great rider, don't forget it. We all have different talents/interests when it comes to horses. I think that mine would probably just be working with greenies and bringing them up in their training, and maybe for you it's to move up in the show system. We all like different things.
I would love to show, but I wouldn't trade my silly Kittybug for a show horse any day <33
Speaking of which. I get to hack Kat on Friday and Sunday because my trainers will be at a show! So no lessons! I'm actually pretty excited because the barn will be practically empty... which means the ring will be free, which means I can play with Kat! I've always wanted to just turn him out and see if he'll follow me over jumps and stuff... xD I know that probably sounds stupid, but I've always wanted to do that and maybe Kat and I will bond even more?
@Flitter:
We've missed you! What's up? I hope that everything is OK with yourself and the horses. You said something about a fire, I hope that everyone/every horse is OK. ;_;
Quoting for Dolphin coz I think she missed this ;D
@Dolphin (again):
I'm sorry that your show was cancelled! I remember you talking about that, that must've felt awful not being able to show. ;_; What's really frustrating is that the weather is in the low 80's right now, absolutely beautiful for my area, but my trainer didn't want to "un-cancel" . I feel like there is no reason why I'm not riding today!
On the bright side, you didn't risk yourself or Mully's health by competing in the heat <3 And besides, you still got Overall Reserve Champ in the series!
Well, not Saturday, Friday and Sunday ;D Close enough, lol, I must've type-od somewhere in my last post. I'm glad I get to see my Kittybug and have the whole barn to myself! We're going to have a fun weekend!
Have fun at your lesson! And good luck at the show, I'm sure you'll do great (as usual) C;
