@Gamgam:
That would be a good idea xD
Did you break your arm riding? o.O Ouchie! And Mo weather is insane. I wish it would make up it's mind!

@Tiny:
Aww, I'm sorry that you've been getting all that rain ;_; I hope you can ride soon!

@Milo:
Sorry that your lessons have been cancelled too!

HOpefully we can all ride again soon C:

I really hope I can go up to the barn alone and hack, I haven't done that in a while..I'll just be alone though. I don't want my friend to get mad at me >.< But oh well, I just want to ride for god's sake!
Wow, Hano, we're so pathetic lol

Oh my gosh, we are in the same boat xD I NEED MY LESSONS...
I hope you can hack! I don't think your friend would be mad. I wouldn't be at least.
And we are pretty pathetic lol. Isn't the weather NICE today? ANd my freakin' lesson is cancelled. ;_; So pathetic but I don't care, I wanna see my pony.

I KNOW RIGHT xD Like you, if I go over a week without riding I look like a noodle when I begin again, lol, perhaps the most pathetic time being after I broke my arm, I hadn't ridden in over a month! And to add to that, I was riding Tucker, a completely new horse, who was fresh after being shaved, and was like 4 hands taller than the old pony i used to ride, lol, definitely one of my worst lessons ever xD
I hope I can too! T_T I don't think she'll mind, I'll have to consult her. It's just we very rarely ride without one another.
Yeah, we are lol. IT IS! I really wish we could've had our lesson today, but nooo. Sigh. It's beautiful out, ecept for that random rain attack we had earlier. Yeah, I wanna see my pony too ;-;
Weather's so unpredictable here. I hate Missouri. JUST MAKE UP YOUR MIND ALREADY! Wanna take this to pm so we don't spam the thread up too much? lol

If Missouri whether is anything like Kansas weather, I'm with ya. We have an indoor as well as an outdoor arena where I ride at though so luckily we can ride when its raining as long as there isn't a severe thunderstorm going on. Rain wise though, we could use a bit more where I'm at, :P.However one day my lesson was cancelled recently because there was a show going on in the indoor arena and it was raining outside. That was sad since it was my last day to ride Randy

If anyone is curious as to why my name is Coppertop its because he was a horse I used to ride a long time ago and I got my first champion on him over two foot fences. I moved on to many different horses but I still remember him since he was so good and sweet for me! However, he has passed on :( so now its a way for me to keep the memory of him. :) Image

    April, I'm still so sad about Max. D:

    On a happier note, I'm riding Riley today! I'm sore from athletics, but hopefully cantering will be better.

Oooh...oooohhh. Still utterly ticked off at Rowdy. I figured since I can't ride that I'd work on some trick training with him. (He knows "hug" both directions now!! c:) He started nudging me for treats, so I slapped away his muzzle. The turd pinned his ears and swung his hind end around at me!! He is never that disrespectful. I lunged him til he was panting nd backed him halfway across the arena. >.<

@wibeke: Wow when I was typing this huge detailed response I pressed something that made me lose this page ;-; Man is this frustrating! Okay, I am sorry but I jut can't type up the same thing I did before but I will still try to go into detail xD

You're very welcome <3 Oh I know that you understand that being a good rider isn't all about jumping high, but I wanted to restate that (: Don't feel that way though, because before I started riding with my trainer I felt the same way. Actually at the time I didn't really pay that much attention to how far I should be at this point, but now I realize I could have been waay farther with my riding. My old barn was very strict and hardly ever bumped people up due to their insurance. Bottom line is that after riding for 5 years I was still jumping under 2'. Now I realize if I had been riding with my trainer or another place I could have been a lot farther. That doesn't mean that I regret my experiences there -- no not at all. I actually still love that barn because of all they have taught me. All of their horses were school horses but you had to work your ass off to get them going and stuff. Plus, they were very focused on good eq so luckily now I don't have many eq issues. Anyways, don't be frustrated because I was in the same boat as you before, if not worse. Hey, I mean the first time I ever cantered was after 3 years so don't feel bad ;D

I know you didn't aim it at me, but sometimes it feels like that when people rant about girls that rides pushbuttons because compared to all of the challenging horses you guys ride it makes Mully seem like a pushbutton. No, no there is no need ot be sorry at all. I know you would never do anything like that <3 Yeah that's true, I know there is a big difference between a trained horse and a pushbutton but like I said above, when you guys are riding these challenging horses and making them look so good I feel like Ii am doing nothing riding a trained horse and looking good. He really is a lovely horse and is definitely a challenge at times and makes me think which I love. Very true, he is trained and somethings I can teach him a thing or two here and there but he is definitely not the horse you hop on cluck and will just go for you.
Oh my gosh wibeke, that was the sweetest thing I have ever heard anyone on here say. Thanks a million that really means the world to me for you to be looking up to me as a rider <3 You and Major are outstanding though and for you to be able ride a challenging horse and make him and yourself look good while your at it is amazing. Wow, once again thank YOU for all of your kind comments you really just made my week right there ;3

Sorry to hear that they both intimidate you, but you shouldn't be nervous. Maybe one day when the little girl isn't around just pull her aside and discuss your goals and how what she is doing isn't really catering to those goals. If you don't want to be the one doing the talking then ask your mom if she can talk to you instructor about you riding different horses that can jump. Still, if those don't work or if it isn't possible for your current instructor to take you to that next level it may be time to start considering new barns. I would suggest you doing a bit of research right now about barns in your area you think would be right for you. I think it would just be good to have those on hand. Before I was even serious about leaving my old barn I just started looking at other barns to see what my possible options would be :3 Good luck once again~

@Hano: I am so sorry that your lesson got canceled! That's how I felt when my show got canceled >.< It was one of the shows in the Weeknights series and my trainer canceled it due to the weather being too hot and I was miserable. On top of that, I was home all day so I couldn't help but keep checking the weather to see if the temperature would go to under 95 degrees. Plus, I kept checking the website since the show was still going on but I couldn't compete in it. It was awful to see Mully and I go down in the standings and just knowing other people got to show that night. I understand what it feels like. At least you get t hack Friday and Saturday though! You lucky girl :3

Speaking of lessons, I have my lesson tomorrow after school. Hopefully I don't have much/any homeowrk (since it's only the 3rd day of school) so I don't have to worry about rushing at the barn. I also hope my lesson goes well since it's right before our show on Saturday. I can't wait for my lesson and show though 8D

I'm so sorry that you've been going through this. ;_; I've kinda been feeling the same way, but not exactly. That's a long story, though.
My suggestions for you are to first have a talk with your trainer. Doing that might be hard for you if you're not super close, but I'm sure that your trainer will understand. You need to tell her how you feel - about how you don't think you're progressing, how you really want to be jumping, and how you want to be riding harder/better horses. Honestly, she might not have any idea that you want to be jumping or riding Harry and etc... If you seem content to be riding Major 24/7 and don't speak up about wanting to jump/show, there is no way for your trainer to realize that's what you want to do. ;D You've got to advocate for yourself. And if your trainer doesn't give you a good explanation for why she hasn't been letting you do more advanced things... then it might be time to look for a new barn. I know how impossibly hard that can be, and I've been there, but believe me - in many cases it's for the better.

@Dolphin:
Don't feel bad about your riding! I don't think that anyone here thinks that Mully is a pushbutton or that you're a bad rider. Mully is well trainer but he's no where near easy, and you are such a fabulous rider to go to all of those A shows and win all of those ribbons! I wouldn't feel comfortable showing 2'6 right now, but can handle that like a pro. <3 Maybe you don't get the chance to ride greenies, but I'm sure you would do fine. C: You're a great rider, don't forget it. We all have different talents/interests when it comes to horses. I think that mine would probably just be working with greenies and bringing them up in their training, and maybe for you it's to move up in the show system. We all like different things.
I would love to show, but I wouldn't trade my silly Kittybug for a show horse any day <33

Speaking of which. I get to hack Kat on Friday and Sunday because my trainers will be at a show! So no lessons! I'm actually pretty excited because the barn will be practically empty... which means the ring will be free, which means I can play with Kat! I've always wanted to just turn him out and see if he'll follow me over jumps and stuff... xD I know that probably sounds stupid, but I've always wanted to do that and maybe Kat and I will bond even more?

@Flitter:
We've missed you! What's up? I hope that everything is OK with yourself and the horses. You said something about a fire, I hope that everyone/every horse is OK. ;_;

Quoting for Dolphin coz I think she missed this ;D

@Dolphin (again):
I'm sorry that your show was cancelled! I remember you talking about that, that must've felt awful not being able to show. ;_; What's really frustrating is that the weather is in the low 80's right now, absolutely beautiful for my area, but my trainer didn't want to "un-cancel" . I feel like there is no reason why I'm not riding today!
On the bright side, you didn't risk yourself or Mully's health by competing in the heat <3 And besides, you still got Overall Reserve Champ in the series!
Well, not Saturday, Friday and Sunday ;D Close enough, lol, I must've type-od somewhere in my last post. I'm glad I get to see my Kittybug and have the whole barn to myself! We're going to have a fun weekend!

Have fun at your lesson! And good luck at the show, I'm sure you'll do great (as usual) C;

Oh my gosh. I was not expecting that much of a reaction. <3 Thank you all so much! All the comments really meant a lot to me...and made me cry some more, but that's not hard to do when it comes to Max. They made me smile just as much, so we can call it even.
Really, I can't thank you all enough...I want to say Max would appreciate it, but he probably wouldn't care less unless you had peppermints. Oh I miss that horse. <3

Lesson on Rose today, she's such a sweetheart. We were lessoning with someone else, though, and whenever she's with another horse cantering she remembers that she used to race...we cantered/galloped approximately 25 times, and not a single one was intentional. Literally every corner she would break gaits...I got a very effective lesson on sitting back when a horse gets quick and doing circles when said horse doesn't want to. o_o

Intended to respond to you all, you've been so nice to me and I should return the favor. Sadly, I have to go pack for a camping trip that I don't want to go on, it's for school and I'm paranoid that something will happen at my stable/house when I'm gone. Too many accidents lately!.
Anyway, thanks again...I'll reply as soon as I get the chance.

@Rain: Thats awesomei hope you have a nice lesson!

@Rowdy: oh wow but i know what you mean, i was with this minature pony and he is sooo sweet then when i moved him he just got angry at me and began to kick. I think they just get mad sometimes when we say they can't have something and throw a fit. I hope things are better tomrrow though!^^

@Dolphin: oooo thats sounds exciting dolphin good luck on your show. I wish i could do my lessons during the week but i live far from my barn and no one in my household that can drive gets off early enough to take me. Though i hope your lessons go well!^^

@Flitter: No problem Flitter! its been said before but again were all here for you!^^Im glad you got to ride Rose today though! Hahaha peppermint, ive never seen a horse eat peppermints but thats cute, i wish i could have met him!^^

Sadie~Bronson~252 wrote:@Wibeke, I know what it feels like to be pushed aside and not treated the same. Back when we still did jumping at my old barn, everyone else got to ride the horses that jumped, while I was stuck on the old mares, or the crazy ponies that couldn't jump. Yeah, I loved those guys, but I also wanted to jump with everyone else. And when I did get to ride the jumpers, it was at a time when we couldn't jump, so I never really learned how to. Yeah, I'd pop the best jumper over a few big logs in the woods, but I never did it well like everyone else, because I was never taught. Actually, besides learning enough to be able to stay on at a canter, I've never really had a proper lesson. I learned my balance on my own, learned my particular style of listening to the horse on my own. Yet everyone else around me got proper lessons, because they started younger than I did. Now it's painfully obvious that I'm not a good of rider as I'd thought.
Sometimes you just have to speak up, say what you want. But if you've tried and it didn't change anything, then you may have to switch barns to move up. But a lot of the time, it's just people assuming that you're happy where you are, happy being left behind because you've never said anything about it.

@Dolphin, I will NEVER assume any horse is a push button until I've ridden it myself. People always thought that Sadie was so perfect because she was so good for me, but when they tried to ride here, they found out that she was actually pretty crazy and wouldn't listen unless she'd earned your respect. I've ridden a lot of horses, and seen a lot of people ride those same horses, and they all act different under a different rider. I bet that not just anyone could jump up on Mulligan and win ribbons left and right. You know him, and you work well together. That doesn't make him a push button. Rez seemed to be listening well to both me and his owner when she rode him, but really, he was fighting her and I didn't ask him to do anything really. Doesn't make him crazy or a push button. Just different. I'd bet we could all have a day where we all swapped horses, and we'd all find that everyone's horse is difficult in it's own way.

however, I'm still going to doubt my own riding for awhile now. No matter what you guys say- I don't really pay attention too much anymore. It just makes me miss Bronson more.

@Hano, I played with Henry in the ring all the time! It's fun- normally he didn't care so much about me, but when it was just him and I alone in the ring, he'd follow me around everywhere. It was almost like join up. It was special. It was.
-----------------------------------

So, chickened out on calling. AGAIN. Its' five p.m. now, so probably too late to try and call. I had a dream about him last night. In it, I went out to go see Rez and Bronson was there, bone thin, feet overgrown, completely neglected. And he was wild- like, never been handled wild. They warned me not to go by him (and at first in the dream I didn't know it was him), but I walked up to the fence anyway and he LOOKED at me and just came galloping over to see ME, and so I went in the pasture and he followed me around like a dog. I miss him so much, and that didn't help. I'm sure they're good people out there, his owners, but he was so thin when I saw him. What if he's gotten worse, and I could have saved him but I didn't because I just didn't call? It's an endless cycle. Either way, I'm pretty sure they're closed now, so I can't call. At least that dream won't come true any time soon- Bronson only left in May, and he can't fall that far that fast.

On another note, I saw Darla at school today. And she saw me. Just GLARED, like she completely hated me. I can't really decide on how I feel about that. In a way, it means that she knows that I have really left her and all her insane ways, but it also means that she doesn't regret losing me. Kinda pulls both ways. Her daughter wouldn't talk to me either. She saw me in the hallway while the other two kids at my school were around, and she said hi to them, but NOT me. Again, kinda not sure how I felt about it.

Quoting because I'm not sure if anyone saw (not that I'm mad about that, it's just from a really personal reason of mine that I'll feel really bad if it seems like I've been ignored. Kind of a paranoia, if you will.)

@saide: im sooo sorry i didn't see that post! XS anyway thats an odd dream but i hope that never happens to Bronson! Its hard letting go of a horse that you are close to. Oh wow thats really rude, i kinda hate when people do that but just because you left doesn't me thay have to pretend your not a person, they are the ones in the wrong. I would just forget it, your at a better barn with better people now!^^
