I kinda know that feeling but that really sucks. Honestly, you should just not talk to her. Or tell her off completely. :/ Your horse is so freaking pretty. <3 Don't listen to anything that wannabe says and don't give up what you love for the likes of her. Keep on doin what you're doing. (:

i also know how it feels, but since she was going to far, we werent friends anymore.
it also really really depens on what you like.
because juney ( my horse ) is an friesian, and hers is an paint, so its also what you like , but i know what you feel. well, not exactly, because everyone is different, but, you know what i mean.. i hope ^^

Yes I do, thank you<3

I hate that, and I feel sorry for you, but why do you let her brag? Have you tried talking to her about how much it hurts or that you don't want to listen to it anymore? You shouldn't stop doing what you love because of a friend. Have you ever considered asking/telling her that if she valued you and your friendship with her, that she should stop bragging, it doesn't matter, just live in the friendship moments. Friends should brag or anything, they should make each other laugh, not fed up.

I have tried, but every time she changes the subject. She just doesn't understand. But, I hopefully I will get it through her head the next time she says something again.

Thank you all, i really appreciate it.

@ i have no idea , the stallion was smaller than the mare, thats the only thing i did know, and my mom said about the 3cm,but yeah, she didnt know excactly.
and they said the pony/horse was 5 years, over 2 moths 6.

I think it was me who asked all that. XD That would kinda make sense with the height, and with the age related to the 'training' amount.

DraftHorseLover wrote:@Hime ~~ You can pm it to me if you want, unless you want to post it on here, I don't mind long posts xD

If some one else wants a crash course on gaited riding I could post it here. ^_^

@VanillaMocha: Can you brag back? Though that might annoy her in turn, but maybe she would realise how annoying she is to you. I mean you mentioned that she wants to barrel race, which is what you do.
Then there's the great skill of ignoring. XD Just let it go in from other ear and come out from the other. I also find it funny that she calls your horse ugly yet would probably want a horse like that who could barrel race better than her current one. :/ She just sounds like a person who sort of thinks about and of herself too much.

I'd like some opinions on boarding your horse vs it being at home? I've been thinking about when I get another horse and I'm stuck between the two. >_< Boarding at the farm I'm taking lessons at would be really awesome; they're super nice people, there's no barn drama, the horses are really well cared for, and the facilities? Amazing. Trails, an indoor arena, humongous pastures, wash stalls, a lounge, etc. Plus I would know that when I'm at school, my horse would be taken care of. The only downside that I can see is the cost. I haven't gotten a job yet and finances are tight. Board is $425. I feel like it would be worth it, but it's not my decision to make; plus, that's a lot of money per month. Having it at home would be nice, but I feel like if it's here my mom would spoil it like she did my last one and make it mean.
So what are your opinions on board vs home? I really want to board eventually, but once again, money. :(

I know right? I'm hoping he gets better soon since I haven't been able to really ride him more than at a walk all summer. And Randy is so much fun! Sadly he left on Sunday and the person who rode him before he left didn't even do that good on him, my trainer told me that I did better on him than the other girl did. :P That made my day.

I get to ride Eli again now! Yay! Also my trainer said I might be able to ride him in the Low childrens (Jumpers) at the show in October! I'm not sure if it's an A show or not, I can't remember, :P. But I'm uber excited for that and I hope I do get to do it. I think it's like 3'3-3'5 but I'm not for sure.

Also I saw people were doing this soooo...

If you ride something other than what I have listed, then just put whatever you ride next to western or english. (: Also, here's a little form to fill out about your favorite horse so that when you talk on here, everyone knows. This is more about the horse and not you.

Registered Name: Authenticity (HIs racing name was Call Me the Champ before we got him)
Barn Name: Austin!
Gender: Gelding
Breed: Thoroughbred
Color: Bay
Height: 16.1 (I think I don't know it off the top of my head)
Age: 11
Markings: A sock on his right hind and a little bit of white on his front left, and a Blaze
Discipline: English, Hunter/Jumper
Background: He was born in Kentucky and was Sired by Cryptoclearence who I searched for online and saw some interesting stuff about if you wanted to check him out. Austin however was Call Me the Champ and won three races in his career and when he was five I think he started being trained to be a hunter/jumper. As far as I know when I got him (He was 8) he hadn't been able to do eany jumper shows and barely had his lead changes, we were told he could jump 3'6. We bought him and he was the sweetest thing ever, but he proved to be a challenge later on. At first he was a bit sad at the change and wouldn'y eat much, he even refused treats (He doesn't now, :P) I've been working on him since then and he has gotten a few reserve champions and a champion. He has automatic lead changes now and I've jumped him 3'3 before, and I love him so much!
Do you own/half-lease/lease, etc. this horse?: I own him

If anyone is curious as to why my name is Coppertop its because he was a horse I used to ride a long time ago and I got my first champion on him over two foot fences. I moved on to many different horses but I still remember him since he was so good and sweet for me! However, he has passed on :( so now its a way for me to keep the memory of him. :) Image

Ugh. My trainer texted me this morning, saying that my lesson for today was cancelled due to the heat and humidity... but we had an unexpected rain this afternoon, and now it's SUPER nice outside, but my trainer doesn't "un-cancel" lessons, so no riding today. ;_; I'm really bummed. I had a fabulous lesson on Sunday when some key techniques really 'clicked' for me, but now I'm worried that I won't be able to find it again because my lesson was cancelled. >< There are no lesson times open for tomorrow, and they're going to be at a show Friday-Sunday, and the barn is closed on Monday. Hopefully I can get a Tuesday lesson, or I'll explode.
At least I'm hacking Friday and Sunday. I'm just worried that I won't be able to get to the point where I was last lesson and that I'll forget EVERYTHING right when it started to click. ><
God, I sound whiny. I'm so thankful that I get to ride at all, I'm just being paranoid about turning into a crappy rider over a week without lessons.

@Hano, I can jump in that boat too >.< My friend can't ride today, tomorrow, Friday, Saturday [normal riding day], Sunday, or Monday. So I have to wait til TUESDAY for my lesson. I think I'm gonna die. I definitely feel that way when I go over a week without riding. Riding just once a week just barely keeps me alive, lol.
I really hope I can go up to the barn alone and hack, I haven't done that in a while..I'll just be alone though. I don't want my friend to get mad at me >.< But oh well, I just want to ride for god's sake!
Wow, Hano, we're so pathetic lol

@Vanilla Mocha: I tink you horse is beautiful i loooove his markings and cute mane cut. I dont know why your friend brags about her horse, its kinda odd i think. Ive never heard someone brag about their animals. Though i dont think you should give up riding if it makes you happy and your horse happy, your friend bases her horses to yours more on looks rather than the connections you two have. I agree with everyone else though, stand up not only for you but your horse!^^

@mochele: well, i think you should just do home boarding at least until you get the money to to boardat the barn (which sounds awesome by the way). Also is their partial boarding avaliable?

@Hano: i know what you mean, ive had a bunch of my lessons cancled because my instructor wasn't there or once i came to the rescue late and i saw everyone ridng in the open field and i asked the barn owner if i could ride but she and my instructor had to leave soon, i was soooo bummed. Though i should be thankful i get to ride anyway!

I KNOW RIGHT xD Like you, if I go over a week without riding I look like a noodle when I begin again, lol, perhaps the most pathetic time being after I broke my arm, I hadn't ridden in over a month! And to add to that, I was riding Tucker, a completely new horse, who was fresh after being shaved, and was like 4 hands taller than the old pony i used to ride, lol, definitely one of my worst lessons ever xD
I hope I can too! T_T I don't think she'll mind, I'll have to consult her. It's just we very rarely ride without one another.
Yeah, we are lol. IT IS! I really wish we could've had our lesson today, but nooo. Sigh. It's beautiful out, ecept for that random rain attack we had earlier. Yeah, I wanna see my pony too ;-;
Weather's so unpredictable here. I hate Missouri. JUST MAKE UP YOUR MIND ALREADY! Wanna take this to pm so we don't spam the thread up too much? lol

@ Hano, we've been having daily downpours out lately D: So I haven't been riding since last Saturday- I was supposed to go Monday and Tuesday, but it's just way too wet ;-; It stinks that you couldn't get a lesson today though, but at least you get to go on a couple hacks soon. c:

@ monchele, I've actually done both with my horses that I've owned/leased. Personally, I prefer boarding over keeping it at home. I would love to be able to see my pony on a daily basis but it's just so much upkeep. Not only would I have to build a shelter/barn, but then fencing comes in and fencing repairs and feed costs and hay costs and farrier visits- all of that adds up! When you board at a barn, they buy all the feed and hay, at least where I've been to. Plus you have the advantage of nice arenas and trails, plus lots of other people and horses. Also, if that horse would be the only one you would keep at your house, I would say no to that as well- horses are herd animals, so they should at least have a pasture mate in my opinion (even if it's a donkey or something xD). With farrier bills, I know people often go in together to pay the fee for the farrier to come out so it's cheaper for them. I think it would be worth it to pay the board fee, but have you also considered looking for places that are cheaper? Some more family-owned barns offer full boarding for around $200 a month here. I would also suggest taking a look, because it could never hurt c:

That's just my two cents X3
