I know that it's every person's dream to own a horse, but quite honestly it is a very big responsibility. I know that it may seem sort of easy, but trust me. I'm already feeling a little overwhelmed with a half lease, which is where I basically own half of the horse.
This may sound disappointing, but you are not ready to own a horse if you have only been riding twice. Even though you may know how to groom, tack up, etc. there are still many other things that you must know. You must also know how to ride well. There are a lot of things, both on the ground and in the saddle, that can only be learned with experience. Right now you should focus on riding lesson horses, learning about horses and the care of them, and not look into buying a horse, especially a green (not completely trained) horse. Greenies need a lot of guidance and experience to help them develop skills properly.
Anyways, I hope that I didn't burst your bubble or something similar. But keep on dreaming about owning a horse one day!

@ Slater; OHMYGOSH yes! I do!

I wonder why April (Flitter) hasn't been on here recently... I miss her...

xD my trainer bought a horse at the auctions. shes so well breed even as a yearling she is worth at LEAST $5,000 without training. Omg she is stunning and she has some great m movement. Shes from some massive cutting horse lines and stuff. So my trainer will let me buy her and i can take her to my college and have her trained in Dressage, Western, or jumping. And after even just two months of training, her price will double to $10,000. Omg shes so cute and willing! Ill post pictures when i can. XD we saved her from going to slaughter to. She costed us $100. Nobody but us bid on her, but ya. I get her for $500. I so hope i can get her! Shes just so cute!

Something like a Quarter Horse sounds like it might fit!

@Coppertop- Seriously Austin, get not-lame! Randy sounds like fun though, it's disappointing that you couldn't ride him today :(

@Rain- I must be blind, because I can't find the link to your Riley pics. Help me out? And you're right, April's missing D:

@Arabesca- Welcome to our little thread-community!
I'd have to agree with Rain. Take more lessons, just enjoy getting to try many horses without much responsibility, learn a lot. The more you learn, the more you realize how much more there is to learn xD
Horses isn't just a matter of knowing how, it's also a lot of time and experience so that the know-how becomes instinctual and simply a first reflex. As well, I hate to say it and I don't want it to seem like I think this of you, but invest the time learning and enjoying horses so that you really understand what you are getting into. Many people that buy horses that quickly get turned off and dump their horse with someone because it was overwhelming and more then they expected.

@Slater- that's awesome! I hope I'll have a horse by the time I'm in college/university xD

@Hano- No worries. Just wanted you to know that I understand wanting help from your trainers training Kat.
It was Mon-Tues-Wed, and pretty much it was business as usual +pony rides and pony grooming. So I had some people just watching me ride and stuff. It was for potential customers and also like a appreciation thing for customers we already have. Maybe you could suggest something like that to your trainers to get more customers? They put up posters at our barn, an ad in the newspaper, on the website and had fliers for everyone to give to neighbours and friends. Plus they emailed everyone on the email list.

@Rowdy- I knew you'd do well! But that really sucks about a concussion o.O Take it easy and feel better soon!

@Hime- Good luck with the job search!

And I have a bunch of stuff to say about me and horses lately, but I'll wait for another post first so this one isn't massive.
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not."

Quarter Horses are wonderful western horses, but if you're looking for more color you could always go for a Paint Horse.

Shew, so many posts since I was last here! I'll have to go through and do some catch-up reading and then I'll try and reply to most of the recent ones.

Happy news though! Caly is doing much, much better than we thought she would be at this point. She is still on stall rest, however she does not favor her leg at all and it no longer has any hint of swelling. The medicine the vet had us put on it sadly burnt her leg and it has a huge scab pretty much on her entire sock. It's starting to crack and soon the scab will start coming off. I'll be keeping it clean and such but does anyone have any suggestions for a good lotion or medicine to put on it? It won't be bloody and raw, but it will be tender and bald.

@Slater<3'sSkrillex: That sounds like an amazing horse! I can't wait to see some pictures. ;)

@OneRowdyNight: Congrats!^^ And ya horsebackriding is absolutley a sport, one of the most fun and most dangerous ones!^^ Im really happy that you recovered though, ive never been to the ER but i hope i never have to.

@Hano: Thats great news, i hope we can see some pictures of you jumping on Kat!^^

@Slater: I would love to hear, sounds really cool!
------------------------------------------------------

Do i got a story for you guys, well not a realllly interesting story but still a story, anyway i didn't get a chance to ride today because my instructor wasn't there and I was unsure if i should ask the barn owner because i didn't want to bother her and ask will i ride? Though when he came he said i should have just called him and he would have been there but oh well i might go tomrrow or saturday.
Also as i was leaving i saw two of the minature ponies that we have eating grass at the public county park and there is a sign that says NO HORSES (because of dumb people who dont understand the horses). I went to go tell my instructor and ask him for help but then he was like just run them in. So i went to towards them and they got to like the middle of the driveway you have to take to get into the parking lot but i wanted to make sure they were all the way on the property.. Then as i was pushing Prince (who likes to back his bottom into you when you push him) he begins to kick me. Thankfully i wasn't too close but his hoof still hit my hip. It hurt alittle and will probably be ok just a bruised but i was just shocked, i didn't think Prince would do that. I think he is just mad because people are always pusinh him to get out of places that has awesome food.
Hopefully ill get some pictures up for you guys to see, i took some with my phone but the picture quality is horrible!
