juney did it so well today! finally , after 4 weeks didnt see her, we did cross.
my mom and dad did ride her when i was gone,i was on holiday with friends c:
i forgot to say:
my sister was afraid for horses, but she did love them from outside,so she decided, unless her fear for horses, to go riding them.
+-2 weeks ago, she did ride for the first time, on a Welsh.
she did like it, but she dont know yet how to saddle etc.

Hello everyone, I'm Arabesca and I've just recently started riding horses. My second lesson ever was today and it went well. I got to join a group of 4 people at the equestrian center for a trail ride. I don't have a horse of my own, but I might have one soon. There's a really nice Tennessee Walker at this equestrian center. She isn't completely trained, however, her price includes the rest of her training and I think that it's a good deal. My dad, mom, and I have set up a time to see my instructor's niece work with her.

I've already met so many different people and made friends. I really enjoy being at this place. I was considering another place, but after what happened between them and I, no. I'm not going to that place. I was accused of touching other people's tack and stealing their stuff when I never put a finger on anything. All I did was tour the place. I'm not going to be somewhere that I'm accused for doing something that I couldn't possibly do. No. I'm glad that I chose this equestrian center.

Big news you guys!! We had a horsemanship challenge yesterday. Rowdy and I snagged two firsts!!! We got a new headstall and $25 to SmartPak. I even worked the donkey through one of the courses and he did fabulous. Overall, really fun! Until... I woke up in the hospital at 1:30 this morning with no recollection of what happened! Sonoma, my crazy mare, earned me my first ambulance ride, ER visit, hospital stay, and major concussion.... I feel fine, just dizzy now and I really hope Jess will let me keep working her. Apparently, I was on her in the middle of the crowd of the show and she threw me face first into the clay. (: Just goes to show ya that riding is a sport even at a walk!
Previously iRowdy/OneRowdyNight and all sorts of other things.

Rest In Peace Zax. I love you.

@Toppy:
Sorry, I missed your post earlier!
That's cool that your barn has an open house! So you do demos and stuff for potential customers/riders...?
And I do the same staring off into space thing. Well, I'm looking ahead, but I'm just completely zoned in on my riding, so I'm not really "looking" at anything, if that makes sense.

I'm glad that Jesse is being so fabulous for you! 8D I can't wait to hear more about it as the year goes on! Do you think you'll show him again?

@Amy:
I'm glad that Donny was such a star for you at the show! It sounds like you rode amazingly <3 I would love to see pictures and hear the full story when you get the time.

And thanks, he really is a cutie, isn't he? I'm a fan of Thoroughbreds.

@Dolphin:
Haha, I'm very glad that he's making me one. <3 If you looked at the plan, the website I got it from has a lot more tack trunk plans... some are simpler than others, maybe your dad could figure that out? Mine is going to take around $400 just in materials, though! But it's going to be pretty nice and very big, so if we bought one similar it would probably be close to $900, so I guess it's good that he can make it. xD
Yeah, I guess I do have a lot of stuff. I want to build my collection too xD

I hope you can find some babysitting/petsitting jobs soon! Housesitting is the easiest, though. Take in the mail, take out the garbage, take in the newspaper, water the plants, and get paid like $50 for a week. C:
Yeah, all of my friends spend their money on itunes, clothes, and makeup... I buy salt licks, saddle pads, and show sheen. xD

@Hime:
I'm glad you could lunge Heta today . C:

And I'm so sorry that the roundbales got cut! I hope that you can find whoever did it. That's just not right.

_______________________________________________________________
Guess who has the best pony ever?
Me. C: Kat was fabulous today.

I had to ride inside since it's still rainy, and I haven't ridden in there forever. It's so small compared to our outdoor! But Kat was being really good. Today, when I put my leg on and asked him to soften at the trot, he actually stretched his neck out and got on the bit! His stride lengthened, his neck stretched out, and he felt sooo athletic. It was awesome. My trainer said it was the best trot she'd ever seen him do! 8D I was proud of him! Usually when I ask him to soften and take the bit, he'll take the bit and soften a bit, but instead of stretching out like I want him to, he over flexes his neck so his "chin is to his chest" (not literally touching his chest, but you get the picture). So yeah. This was a huge improvement.
The canter was great too! At first he wanted to break quite a bit because as soon as I'd get him to soften, I would take my leg off, and there he'd go. But I finally figured the leg issue out and it was. Amazing. So proud of this horse, you have no idea. He's come so, so, so far, and every day he's improving. And then my trainer told me that it was the best canter she'd ever seen him do!
And even BETTER news! I can start jumping him again within a few lessons! C: Trainer thinks he's ready to step it up, and so do I, so I'm pleased.
I wish I got today's ride on video. ;__; Oh well.

And then I worked for 4.5 hours. In the rain. It was tiring... but then, when I was waiting for my mom to come get me (she said she's be a half hour), my trainer told me that I could go hop on Kat bareback! So I rode him around in his halter until I got picked up. C: I love my pony.

@Rowdy:
(Just saw this when I was about to submit my post- 4 new posts before mine!)
Congrats about how well you did with Rowdy!
Butttttt you got a concussion? Ouchie! Feel better soon. C: Crazy mare.

I've had a little bit of experience with horses. Brushing, tacking, and stuff like that. I have a friend who rides and shows. He showed me how to do that stuff and he let me practice on his horse. The only issue is that today was my second time riding a horse. My instructor seems to think that I'm really good at it for some reason. I will put your advice to mind, though. I'm always willing to accept the wisdom of those who have more experience than I do. :thumbup:

Rain: I'm so glad that you had fun on Riley.! It sounds like you two are going to have a ton of fun together, and after a few rides you're going to be the perfect team. Our first rides on new horses are always awkward, but none of those issues are things that won't be fixed with a couple more rides.
About the super bouncy hunter trot- Major's trot is the exact same thing! It takes a bit of work to get used to, and quite a bit of muscle to keep yourself from getting off balance and catapulted around, but once you get it it's so much fun! It's kind of nice, too. The horse pushes you up so posting isn't all that hard, lol.
This sounds kind of cruel, but really the best thing that helped me figure out Major's trot was just dropping my stirrups for entire lesson, planting my butt in the saddle and doing a ton of sitting trots. Bouncy trots like that kind of force you to get into the right position, and it helps you figure out their trot a lot easier. Crazy bouncy trots are so much easier once you force yourself to sit them.
I really love his trot, though. It's nice and powerful and awesome- especially when he extends. Smooth ponies that you just sit back on like a couch are fun, but I find them really boring!

And you guys look great together. Riley is such a pretty horse, and he sounds so sweet! Honestly, I'm really jealous of you.xD
Also, just out of curiosity do you know how old Riley is? ^^

----

Ugh i'm going to reply to everyone later because there's a ton of stuff I wanted to say to everyone but I have a headache right now so I'll type out all my replies later. ^^'

    @ Wibeke; Thank you! I'm sure I'll get used to it with time... at the end of the lesson I even got used to it a little. And I love Riley so much.
    Riley is 10 years old. I am so blessed to have found him... he is such a sweet horse!

    @ Arabesca; Welcome to the horse world!
    I know that it's every person's dream to own a horse, but quite honestly it is a very big responsibility. I know that it may seem sort of easy, but trust me. I'm already feeling a little overwhelmed with a half lease, which is where I basically own half of the horse.
    This may sound disappointing, but you are not ready to own a horse if you have only been riding twice. Even though you may know how to groom, tack up, etc. there are still many other things that you must know. You must also know how to ride well. There are a lot of things, both on the ground and in the saddle, that can only be learned with experience. Right now you should focus on riding lesson horses, learning about horses and the care of them, and not look into buying a horse, especially a green (not completely trained) horse. Greenies need a lot of guidance and experience to help them develop skills properly.
    Anyways, I hope that I didn't burst your bubble or something similar. But keep on dreaming about owning a horse one day!

    @ Slater; OHMYGOSH yes! I do!

    I wonder why April (Flitter) hasn't been on here recently... I miss her...

Coppertop11 wrote:I haven't said anything for awhile! :P I've been sooo freakin busy with homework and riding. Austin is STILL lame, ugh. But this week I've been riding Randy. He is sooo much fun! Even though afterwards he is a bit of a pain since he gets hyped up and won't stop moving. He's leaving on Sunday which is sad and today was going to be my last day to ride him but it was raining and the indoor arena was being used for a show. He's a thoroughbred and just loves going forward but if you tell him to he can practically canter in place. We did an in and out with a pretty quick turn to a triple bounce and it was great! I got video of me riding him and put it in my new video on youtube the "Can't Hold Me Back" one. If anyone's interested in seeing him.

Plus one of the people at the barn rode Eli recently, and she did great and all and i was happy for her because I thought maybe she could ride him instead of the other girl riding Eli, but I couldn't help being jealous. I haven't been able to ride Eli in forever, I get to this week but its felt like she was riding my horse even though I don't own him.

Not sure if anyone saw...?
Image YOUTUBE! Check out my Channel if you like horses :) here
If anyone is curious as to why my name is Coppertop its because he was a horse I used to ride a long time ago and I got my first champion on him over two foot fences. I moved on to many different horses but I still remember him since he was so good and sweet for me! However, he has passed on :( so now its a way for me to keep the memory of him. :) Image
