I free lunged Heta on Sunday and boy she got moves... First she was bit lazy and kept 'hiding' in one corner, the only one that had still some snow. Weird as she usually wants to avoid snow and mud, but I guess out of those two snow/going into corner was lesser annoyance than mud. Talk about princessy. Then she started run like crazy when I asked bit firmer, as she usually does, then she 'spooked' at one guy bringing a bench next to the arena with his quadbike(which she usually doesn't even pay attention to). Wel,l good thing I had my camera with me as she showed some nice flashy trot. Which I got almost on the video... -__- I'll see if I can tweek it a bit and then maybe upload it. If anyone is interested?
Yesterday... She was horrible. I'm not even going there.
Then today I went on a lesson randomly as L asked that would I like to ride on a lesson at 4 when I got there bit earlier. But before that I had time to watch the videos from the competition. Our accidental pace was cut out sadly, and I got to see how horrible Heta's 'tolt' looks like. The only gait that looked good in my eye was canter, and trot, but I know it wasn't as good as usual.
On to the today's lesson I really had to get her front up and collect, which made a huge differance on her walk. But she was not as light on the hand as I would have liked her to be and pressed against it quite a lot when I was supposed to do stop, my fault partially as I don't know how to use my seat so well that she would listen to it. Then I was supposed to do trot transitions with rein contact all the time, which is hard as collecting+rein contact usually= go tolt. We struggled a lot... I got her trot few times out of dozens of tries... I could feel she would go to trot, but still ended up in piggy pace. I know she can trot with contact and collection, but the start is so bloody hard. And when I got her trotting she fell into tolt soon. Those few times I got her going I collected her after getting into trot, but that's not really what L was going for. Better than nothing though, and the last transition and collection I did she liked. So not total waste and now I know what to look in the walk, or feel actually.
