Omg on sunday was one of the greatest lessons ever! I rode a tall 17 hand 30 year old horse named roland.we did a normal walk, trot, canter, trot over ground poles. Then she said" Insted of jumping were going to work on flying lead changes' i was like       . so i cantered and did a half circle and nailed it the first time! i was so proud of myself! Then i cantered did a circle and a flying lead change then changed direction. then did it again! It was so much fun! I also just found out that Pip was used for FOX-HUNTING! I was like . he is fat and lazy and very hard to imagine him jumping a fence and a bunch of hedges!

I volenteer at the barn I take lessons at, and today, I got to go on a free trailride. One of the managers (I think...) asked if I wanted to come after I helped a few people get on and adjusted their stirups, and of course I said sure. And then, she made me lead. >.< I've only been on the trail once before, but I only missed about 2 turns....lol.
The first trail I went on there with my cusin was about 100 dollars, and we walked the whole time. But the free one today, we did a lot of trotting. One of the girls who was on the trail ride had never trotted before, so she was cracking up and thinking the horse. Cheuleto ((Pork Chop)), was running.
I got to ride Cowboy.

Glad you had fun. ^^
Haha, Pip sounds just like Major. He's 27 years old and mostly used for beginner lessons. You'd never guess that he used to be so athletic from how stubborn and pokey he usually is. Once he starts moving though it's really easy to see.
I think half the the problem with retired fox-hunters is just that they get bored going in circles all the time. Compared to flying over fences and over fields, lessons couldn't be any less interesting. My instructor took him out on a trail ride once and actually had to really hold him back. She was shocked, it's usually a battle to get him to even walk a little quicker. xD

I remember the first time I trotted. I was fully convinced that that pony was running for his life. I was holding on for dear life!
I hopped on that pony last Sunday just because I missed him and wanted to see if he really was that hard to ride now that I've improved, and turns out he's the single most comfortable horse I've ever ridden. Nice and slow, too. I could've cantered around on him all day if he didn't get tired out. It's funny how fast trotting feels when you're just learning. xD

Haha, I totally agree with you there! The first time I trotted I thought the pony was trying to run away! Good times, good times... XP

Going to try jumping my gee gee this Saturday. I've been doing heaps of jumping recently but he hasn't in ages. I know he used to jump competitivley at 90cm but I'm going to ease him into it using some smaller jumps. I'd actually like to do a metre but I'm not sure if he'll want to jump that. He is a very lazy boy and getting older.

Also so much excitement~ my best mate is buying a new horse this Sunday, so my gee gee will officially be mine. (He was their old one they outgrew, but didn't want to get rid of fully until they found a new horse).

@ Hano, I feel for you, just yesterday, Ivanhoe got colic ;A;. He was rolling when I got to the stables and my friends said that I couldn't ride him today. So I had to ride Sam but I was all upset. I even told mum and she was all upset and said that if she could help at all she could.

Hano when we taught Donny to float he was already pretty good He needed some perswading to get on though. If its out of fear he wont load then you could get a horse that is good to load to show him its okay. If its out of stubbornness then use a dressage whip to encourge him to get on. If he goes to shoot off the float when unloading wait until he is standing still and calm before lowering the door and removing the bum bare. Then ask him to back off slowly. If he shoots off load him and do it again.

Donny went well today! R said he was very green (old news) but nice to ride. Compared to some others they've had/ridden he's not to bad. Was by of a different experience for R though because Donny has been trained for one rein aids, so she was having some trouble stopping him at one point lol He hasn't quiet made the transition yet. We found out that he does go round though! You just have to ride him like a retard XD and that is a direct quote from R XD She had him working really nice and he looked good doing it <3 He did run her leg into the gate once though, at the start, not spacally aware yet either. We had poles set out so R walked and trotted him over them. The first time he looked as though he was going to fall flat on his face XD Funniest thing ever XD Nearly as funny as when he was pawing at a board I wanted him to walk over. All in all a good day and a good ride. R thinks he'll be fine for Riding of the Bounds but if we get there and he's to spooky or wht ever Luke can get on him and I'll ride Mags. Hoping to ride Donny though and I think he'll be fine. I also got to ride one of the green mares in class today! She was really comfy but a bit looky and spooky. Comfy as though <3

And this was typed on my bros iPod so please excuse any grammar or spelling mistakes. It's hard to type on these XD And Somehow the whole first part of my reply was deleted so it's not exact and might not make sense at points. I did try to remember everything.
