Yeah I know I used to have problems with that wit a horse I used to ride. To be honest my horse is only 4 and he works fine in the rain, I rode him on Sunday and he was as good as gold. It's just the other 4 year old I'm worried about haha, I'm sure he'll be fine though. I love working with the youngsters. It's better than going round on a riding school pony who knows what they are supposed to do all the time; with the younger ones you get to teach them =D
Hime wrote:@About others riding your horse: Heta was used on one or two lessons a while ago. First was an adult with riding experience but she hadn't taken many lessons so her riding skills needed some fixing. That was cool as they focused mostly on bending and other walk/flat work. On the next lesson there's a mother with her 3 daughters. Heta was under the youngest at first... I watched them once or twice, and was not always too happy with her hands. I know Heta can be unresponding in the mouth, but constant pulling ain't helping as she just leans on the bit harder. Plus after she had ridden Heta, I had to 'fix' somethings, like the mouth and responding to any aids basically. Then luckily Heta was put with the oldest girl, who is pretty good rider as my instructor has also let her ride her young horse. She looked much better on Heta, and liked to ride her too, atleast the second time when Heta was not being an ass. She also got her to yield better than I do('cause I suck at yields), which is a good thing. But generally I don't like Heta being ridden by others who are, how to say, not so good riders, atleast not very often. Same/better level as me I wouldn't mind so much.
Heta is an ex-lesson horse and can be ridden by little beginner kids, but they don't do her any good. Since I got her, I've worked to get her listen to smaller and smaller aids, so I would rather like her to stay that way too.
Weather really boosted up today, sunny and freakishly warm in the sun, like maybe 15C. We had a enjoyable trail ride, though there are still few fallen trees on the trails that we had to go around. Heta also stepped on my toes when I was checking the girth, thankfully I had steel toed shoes. But she has taken a habbit to sort of side step with her front legs when ever I'm doing the girth, couple times nearly stepping on my toes as well... Now days she rarely tries to bite though, so some improvent has happened with saddling
Your lucky, the weather here is horrid. Just went to do some on-foot jumping in the rain =/
Yeah I hate in-experienced people riding your horse. It just messes up everything you have attempt to fix about your horses' way of going -.-
Sorry for double posting =P
