I need to rant about a little bit of something to people who understand:
I ride an Arabian mare named Sassy. She is really sweet, and will do just about anything for me. We have a great connection, and it doesn't take much for her to follow me around, and do about anything I ask. Whereas she isn't ridden by anyone else now, over the summer, she will be used for camp every day, which means I won't be able to do anything with her on a regular basis. It breaks my heart to know that I have to give up my baby girl so that a few bratty campers who don't know how to control her can ride her. At the same time, it also means I have to find another horse, and there aren't really very many options for me. I am stuck choosing between a moody, slightly spooky, and rather slow mare and a Morgan gelding who is fast, sweet and a quick learner, but was just started under saddle and is still a little green. I also know that while I am working, Sassy will follow me around in the arena, simply because she is my baby and I am, in effect, her boss mare. What would you guys do about this?
I get it, I don't like watching other people ride my horse -.-
It's your choice to what horse you pick, but I think the younger one will give you a chance to bring it up. If you think about it, while your mare is being ridden by these other people, you are helping train an in-experienced horse, and you never know, maybe this horse will be used for the camp in the future instead of Sassy. It will give you a chance to be completely in charge and to teach the horse new things as well as having fun =D
