Yo guys. I'm considering getting a piebald ball python with carved pumpkin/smiley face markings for my birthday. (She's gorgeous.)
I have a question though.
Would I be a terrible person if I got a snake even though I couldn't handle feeding it live baby rats?
I mean if it doesn't eat frozen/thawed, how would I get it to eat? (The snake I want is currently eating live rat fuzzies, I could never feed a live baby rat to it...I used to have pet rats.)
I'm going to take out a 5 month payment plan on the snake. Do you think the breeder would consider teaching it to eat frozen/thawed for me around the last month if I asked? I'm getting it from Mike Wilbanks' Constrictors Unlimited. They have a lotttt of snakes. I don't know that they would do frozen/thawed for me. But I can't handle feeding live I would hate myself forever.
Maybe I shouldn't get the snake after all?
But I've wanted one since I was really little. :/
ugh

Yes, you can always ask the breeder to switch her to frozen thawed. If you can't handle feeding live, I would recommend buying a snake that is already established on eating frozen thawed rats. (Switching them over can be huge pain, I've done it with my male pied). It doesn't make you a bad owner for not wanting to feed live, but it is part of owning a snake and some just won't take frozen.

Alright. I'll ask 'em if they would do that for me. I mean I could if my snake's life really depended on it. But... I just. I wouldn't forgive myself especially if it's defenseless babies I'm feeding it. So yeah. :/

Definitely bookmarking!

Anywho, I'm planning on turning our 55 gallon aquarium into a crested gecko habitat. I'm asking for the supplies for Christmas, and my dad and I are pet enthusiasts so basically we own a lot of pets, lol. Anyone else own them? I've spent most of my day doing research, and they look like fun little critters. I've been told that 5-6 can fit in a 55 gallon, so I was thinking maybe 2-3. One male and possibly 2-3 females. Honestly, my brain is full. I feel like I know so much about them already, lol.

There was a fire in my room from a bad heater. Luckily my gecko is not kept in my room. But the smoke was everywhere. It was melted plastic fumes and my gecko was kept in the room closest to mine. Do yoh guys think she will get sick? I don't care about my room so much as I do my reptiles.

I've had my Crestie for almost seven years now. She's very healthy, very active and super affectionate. Problem is, about...say a month ago I (accidentally) shut the very end of her tail in the door. It's made me feel awful and now the end is slightly crooked. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it but I can tell her balance is a bit off now. Is this bad for her hunting and such? And is there anything I can do...?

Crested Geckos are amazing. I have 2.
It seems as if you are doing some research which is good.
A few question though, while a 55 gallon tank is great, is it a tall, or long tank?
Crested geckos are going to require a tall.
Now, you can just turn a long into a tall by turning it sideways (But I always found that to be way to much hassle. I like sterilite tubs personally.)
While a 55 gallon could possibly hold 3+ Geckos,
I would never co-hab more than 2 ever.
There is way to much that can go wrong, and very quickly.
Also, if you want a male, are you prepared for baby geckos?
One of the things that make CG's so popular is their tremendously successful ability to breed in captivity.
Baby Geckos are fun, and cute - and while a fairly popular breed are still very hard to place..
even if you plan to keep some, things will add up very quickly with lizards that can and will breed every two month producing on average 2 eggs each time.
So say goodbye to the old, and hello to that rainbow road ...

Does anyone know how to check a matstat? My friend has one for there beardie and every half hour the light turns off then on then of and on constantly for a couple of mins then settles on one for about half hour.
I worry the stat isn't working right.
Having serious issues viewing dark colours at the moment. May delay replys to pms. Sorry.

      The Leopard Pups
Grey, Black and White. The world revolves and we go with it. Twisting in this everlasting monotony, eyes of green and gold, watching and waiting for our chance, our time. Cytor, Liliana, Serenade, Bayonet, the Prankster, the sweet one, the mother and the lost soul. There birth was a lost event, one in a million, two wandering souls met in the shadows, and these four were created. There pups are the stuff of legend, one lost there sight, one lost there path, one lost there love and the other? The other lost his family, everyone they cared about. He lost his family.

I had a crested gecko for about a year, but he died last week. I also have a a beardie name Nacho he is sooo affectionate, he loves to cuddle. His coloring is super cool, he is orange-ish with a dark brown back
