I'm sort of really worried about Pickles. She's old and I'm realizing that I probably won't have much time wit her. It's mainly because of an illness/problem she's having. There's blood in her urine and lots of other symptoms. We took her to the vet and they gave us some medication for her - they currently think that it's a urinary tract infection. But the medicine doesn't seem to be working very well and I'm quite concerned. It's sort of driving us mad because she's urinating on all of our soft furnishings and items - bathroom mats, general mats, on laundry and on my father's trousers. It's quite a big problem at the moment and it's just tricky to deal with. We got her a litter tray but she doesn't tend to use it much -_-

P.S. I'm not looking for health/veterinary advice. I'll leave that up to the professionals - I just feel like I need to have a little rant about my worries for my kitty...

@Anaphea:
If the medication isn't working then I would definitely recommend bringing her back in and informing your vet. It could be something else, like stones.

Hey guys! This little fuzzbutt is home and still needs a name!
Some ideas that I have are; Yoshi, Sora, and Ren. That's in no way a conclusive list though and I'm looking for more suggestions!
Image

He's very affectionate, cuddly, and wants to be next to someone, on someone, or held by someone in order to go to sleep. It's sort of cute, haha.
I do have some questions though that I was wondering if anyone could help me with;

He is crying a lot especially if he's left alone. Can anyone advice me on how to help quiet him down a bit? Or will that just get a little bit better with time?

ALSO; any tips on how to keep him from waking up in the middle of the night and attacking my face? hahah, it's funny but also annoying to have your face clawed with litterbox paws when you're trying to sleep! He has to stay in my room at night, so kicking him out of the room isn't an option unfortunately.
Any tips? Maybe ways to acclimate him to a more diurnal sleep/awake pattern?

Well, one way to get him to behave during the night is to put him in a small kennel or carrier that only has enough room for him to turn around and stand up. This should help teach him that he needs to sleep at night. Now, he probably will cry at first and you will have to not give in to it. As for names, I see a Faolan, Simba, Zues, Nemo, or Ollie.

Awww he's so cute.
The crying he should grow out of. Poor little kitten won't be used to being alone yet and everything is new and scary for him :c
As for sleeping at night, play with him as much as possible before you go to bed. Lots of playing. All the playing. Tire him out and he should sleep for longer. It's another thing that'll get better as he gets older.

As far as name ideas, I thought of Sunny, Ember, Angel, Perseus/Percy, and Cazimi (this was my old cat's name, it's an old astrological term referring to planets being so close to the sun that they are "in the heart" of it).

As for getting him to cry less often when he's alone, give him things to keep him entertained. If he's got toys to play with, he won't be as lonely if he's left alone, so he won't cry out. You could also try giving him treats before you have to leave him alone, so that he might start to associate you leaving with a good thing like toys and treats. He'll likely grow out of it with time, though. Cats are independent animals, after all.

I think one of the best ways to get a kitten to behave at bedtime is to tire them out just before you're ready to sleep. I did that with my kitten back when she had to stay in my room at night, and she's pretty content to sleep through the night with us now.
Other than that, keeping your kitten in a smaller carrier or kennel with a blanket over it should help also. Like someone mentioned before, he'll probably cry at first because he's not used to it, but as long as you don't give in and let him out, he'll eventually tire himself out and go to sleep.

@ru.
Thank you. We're going to take her to the vets at some point in the near future. Other than the urinating problems, Pickles is still happy and comfortable. She doesn't look to be in pain, so I'm glad about that.

As for your kitten, he's utterly adorable! For getting him to be a bit quieter, I would suggest toys or something to just distract him. Like with other animals, don't pay too much attention to it (i.e. giving him hugs) as that will teach him that being loud equals cuddles. Hope you find a way to deal with it!

I like your name ideas for him, particularly Yoshi. I'm normally good at coming up with names, but I'm liking the ones you've currently got x3

Tuckered out after
working with the harness.

She is not a huge fan, but man is she a trooper.
I have only had her for a short time but I am totally in love.

... And a yawn pic just for fun.
