Username contest! Win 2008 VR! (every entry 1 free pet)

Postby SketchedMoon » Wed Jan 11, 2023 4:34 pm

I hope this is allowed as I believe this should fall under a writing contest! If not let me know :)
I'm going into game design college soon and I really want a clean sounding username to have my art under. I've always struggled coming up with names and sticking to them, so I thought i'd have a little contest to get some help!
1st 2nd, and 3rd all have a rare from 2011 and more

Every person who enters at least 1 username can pick a pet from here
________________________________________________________________
Rules
1) You can enter as many usernames as you want, but can only win one prize (to prevent the same person from winning multiple places)
2) I would like if you tell me what the username means/how you came up with it
3) No swear words or inappropriate words
4) Entires can be sent here or DMed to me
5) Have fun!
End date is March 31st!

What I'm looking for
My idea of the perfect name is something short, simple and unique, take Sanrio for example. I think they have the perfect name, I did some research on how they got their name and apparently Sanrio says the name is derived from the Spanish words "San" and "Rio." Meaning that Sanrio basically translates to "Saintly River.".
I'd love a username that takes words or sounds from different languages and puts them together to create something new!
Here is a small list of languages I'd like see used
(I mainly want to stick to these, as I don't want to offend anyone by using a culture that isn't my own)
Italian
Irish
German
Scottish
Swedish
Gaelic
Latin
Old Norse

English is okay too of course!
I would like the username to be under 10 characters long, and fairly easy to read. Bonus points if you can tell me what words/languages you got inspiration from/ the meaning of the username :)

Vibes I'm looking for
for inspiration on what words to use, here's the kind of aesthetic I'm going for.
I love water, rain, clouds, and fantasy. By fantasy, this ranges from mythology, dnd, cryptids, pixies and more. I also love nature and animals, here's a mood board I've made

I'm looking for a name that is cute/nice sounding with fantasy/mythical meaning

PRIZES
the moment you've all been waiting for!

lunite (derived from luna -- moon)
evergreen
e.the.real (ethereal but i added periods for some reason. if your real name by any chance starts with an E then this could be perfect lol)

Note: I will be back editing this with more ! And better explanations - For now I am retiring for tonight.

(1) Sisu ~ Old Nordic | Finnish
Sisu is the drive to overcome adversity. It is determination to stand up for your beliefs when the odds are against you. It’s the courage to see something through even when you think you don’t have a fighting chance. It is the concept that cinematic experiences sell with the underdog tale.
It’s a Finnish concept derived from the root “sisus” which means “internal”; with origins dating back to the 1700s when a Finnish bishop coined the term “sisucunda” to describe the place ‘where strong feelings come from in the body.’

Alt/Creative ideas from sisu:
(1A) nimbusisu (sisu + nimbus) - (9 letters) Loose translation for the username would be ‘the determination to weather the storm’, or to take on whatever comes your way) — nimbus from cumulonimbus; where ‘cumulo’ (Latin) = to pile / heap, and ‘nimbus’ (Latin) = cloud —> cumulonimbus clouds carry rain and often mean a storm is coming.
note: nimbus is thought to also be connected to the Latin word ‘nebula’ meaning “mist, vapor, or fog”. This is somewhat retained in the interstellar object, in which a nebula is a large cloud of luminescent dust and particles. And the connection would be retained for why nimbus - in cumulonimbus clouds often signals precipitation - mist, rain, etc.

(1B) cirrusisu (cirrus + sisu) - (9 letters) from cirrus clouds - I really just thought it had a nice ring to it

(2) Ildsjel ~ Nordic | Norweigan
Ildsjel is what sets your soul on fire. It’s what you wake up for every day. It’s what you live to do. It’s your passion. It directly translates to “fiery soul” — but it’s so much more than that.

(3) ikigai ~ Japanese
ikigai is essentially the same concept as ildsjel, but in another language.
