Angels and Demons are merely myths. Nobody believed in them, not anymore.
Angels and Demons are not merely myths. Nobody believes in that, not anymore.
Angels and Demons are all around us, but nobody would believe that.
In today’s society, Angels and Demons blend in. Some live the life of a true angel or demon, while some live a normal life. The true angels are seen as Psychotic. Nobody believes that they are actually Angels or Demons, not anymore.
In the human realm, Angels and Demons age over time. Once their lifespan is over, they’re resurrected, allowed to live their life over again. Only once they have completed their task are they allowed into their own realm. Many are lucky and know what their tasks are; some are not so lucky and relive their lives over again.
Hadraniel is an Angel. He has lived many lives, constantly resurrected until he completes his task. The only problem: he doesn’t know what his task is.
Well, it is one of two problems. The other is that in every resurrection: he meets the same demon. This demon is arrogant, rude and most of all, this demon was his mate.
Troian is a Demon. He has been forced to live his life repeatedly.
Also, Troian was in love with an angel. In fact, his angel was a sassy, know-it-all – not that his angel showed that side of his self often, especially not around Troian. Actually, his angel most likely hated Troian. Or that is what Troian thought until his second resurrection when his angel placed a light kiss on his lips, something so innocent it could have only come from an angel.
After that, each time his angel found him, he died shortly after.
This time, Troian is determined. His task was to save the angel or that was his unofficial task: he yet to figure out what his actual task was.
By the 4th time they had both been resurrected, the angel and demon would leave clues in familiar places so they could find one another easily.
By the 7th time, they both knew exactly where to find each other. They would find each other at a younger age each resurrection.
By the 11th resurrection, they both were starting to grow impatient wanting to find peace with one another.
It was the 13th resurrection that finally caused the fine piece of thread holding them together to snap.
Troian was terrified to even find Hadraniel again: he couldn’t keep watching him dying over and over until there was nothing left of the man he fell in love with.
Troian would run the opposite way whenever he came within close proximity of his angel, terrified of the prospect of watching him die again.
Hadraniel’s patience eventually broke. He was frustrated at his demon for avoiding him, and angry at himself for not knowing what was wrong with his demon.
When Hadraniel finally had the chance to talk to Troian, it was done civilly and not like they were in love. Or, it was supposed to be. Hadraniel planned to ask his demon what he had done wrong.
By the time Hadraniel and Troian had the chance to have a proper conversation, Hadraniel just snapped.
It had only been a comforting hand placed on his shoulder, yet it was so much more.
“Get away from me!” Hadraniel was angry. He knew he should leave before he said something he would regret. “You’re just like the rest of the Demons.”
Troian looked terrified, taking steps back to get away from his angel. The aura radiating from Hadraniel was one of pure rage.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. Hadraniel came to talk reasonably, there had to be some reason for what happened. It wouldn’t have happened if there was not a good reason. However, his clear reasoning was gone. What was left was the anger he had been holding in, and it was coming out. It was coming out quickly.
“You are like all the other demons: Evil!”
The heartbroken look on Troian’s face was what broke Hadraniel out of his rage. Before Hadraniel had a chance to even figure out how to apologise, Troian was gone. Hadraniel had done the one thing he promised himself he would never do: he had broken his caring Demon. His demon that was nowhere near evil. Hadraniel knew he was more capable of being evil than his Demon. At this moment, he was more evil than Troian could ever be.
Troian was gone, and Hadraniel knew what he had to do to make it up to his gorgeous Angel.
Hadraniel raced after his loving Demon, the one he may have broken beyond repair. Troian was hurting, and Hadraniel knew he was to blame. He knew not all Demons are evil, but why did he have to accuse his lover of being evil?! He knew Troian would never do something like that.
In his head, Hadraniel went through every place that Troian had likely gone. There was only one place that stuck out.
The leaves blew in the wind, leaving an uncomfortable autumn breeze. Troian hugged himself tighter, trying to keep himself warm as he watched over the grave of one of the earlier versions of his angel.
Troian felt a piece of fabric placed on his shoulder. Turning, he noticed that Hadraniel had arrived and placed his jacket over his shoulder.
Hadraniel lowered to the ground to sit next to his lover.
Troian tried to explain his actions. “I was trying to protect you. I couldn't see you fall again, forced into resurrection.”
The angel shushed his demon with a light peck to lips. “Love, we cannot predict the future. Let us just live the way we are. If we cannot ever get into our realms, at least we get to live together. Even if I could get into my own realm, I would choose to stay here with you.”
Troian turned to face his angel: never had he said something that sounded so romantic.
Moving closer to his angel, Troian rested his head on his angel’s shoulders, hugging the jacket tighter. “I can keep being resurrected and every time I will find you,” Troian said this with such certainty that Hadraniel just had to believe him.
“I know.”
The angel and demon knew their future was uncertain but they had each other: for now, that would be enough.
