Okay here we go, my writing entry:
A Leap of Faith
I close my eyes tightly as the floor quivers beneath my feet; my stomach does somersaults as it threatens to throw up my lunch which now sat like a lump of lead. I can’t do this…the notion alone was crazy, how did I let them talk me into this? I take a stuttering breath as I rub my gloved hands together, trying to get blood rushing back into my fingertips.
I can’t believe my sister put me up to this, no matter how hard I try to say no to her, she always manages to weasel me into the most insane things. I am going to die here, I am sure of it as the floor lurches forward again. I could see the headlines of the local newspapers now “Women dies in tragic accident days before Sister’s Wedding”, such a pitiable tragedy they would lament, how utterly preposterous of a situation! I looked upwards and pleaded my case to God If you let me survive this event I promise to cut back on the glazed donuts and eat some salad once in awhile. I wasn’t one to pray to someone who may not even exist but hey, desperate times call for desperate measures.
I waited with my breath held for some sign from God that I would make it out of this alive; instead a voice echoed over the airways “In optimum position in 2 minutes, prepare yourself!” I started quivering all over as my 5 seconds of faith was extinguished, so much for that I thought. Closing my eyes I focused my thoughts, all I had to do was take a leap of faith. It would be over soon and if I lived to tell the tale, I would order as much takeout food as I wanted, weight watcher diet be damned. I repeated this to myself like a mantra, almost believing in it.
Then that same voice reverberated through the air “Now!” and my prior confidence shattered. I gulp in air as I start to hyperventilate, terror overtaking me. Shuffling to the edge, I look down, say a prayer, and jump…
Tears formed in the corners of my eyes as the wind rushed up to meet me, my arms spread awkwardly as I fell away from the airplane. I screamed in fear as I plummeted, utterly sure that my pack would refuse to open and that I would fall to my death. I pulled on the little plastic line, feeling my parachute open up and lift me to a standing position, gently lowering me to the still far away ground. My screams of terror ceased as I looked about civilization below me, the tiny ant-like people scurrying about their business.
I smiled in spite of it all and glanced to my left where the other bridesmaids were sailing down beside me with equally goofy faces of exaltation lighting up their features. My sister glided beside me, the bride to be simply glowing as she shouted in my ear “I told you that you wouldn’t die! This is the best Bachelorette party ever!”
I laughed softly as we gradually approached the grassy field where we were to land, I was glad she was so pleased with her day. I however was glad it was over, and vowed to never do that EVER again. As we landed with a soft thud, I kissed the ground and staggered to my feet, my mind on already distracted with all of the congratulatory food I would treat myself to when I got home.

My poetry entry
Life
Bring me the sunset in a cup
So we may paint it across the sky
Gather a handful of dirt from the darkest caverns
So we may shape this land
Strike a spark from the eternal flame 5
So we may breathe life into this desolate land
Bring me a wisp of heaven
So we may have a place to dream
Capture the essence of time standing still
So we may remember to appreciate the little things 10
Sharpen for me a wicked Reaper’s Scythe
For all life must eventually come to an end
Bring me rejuvenating slumber
Because molding a world can be quite tiresome
