COMMUNITY POLL: Rare Monthly Pets

i would absolutely love for there to be more monthly rares!!

if the main issue is not wanting to spend hours trading for the hard outcomes, then why bring up the pound, dec 18th, and the free pets forum? as a noob i would spend hours on the free pets forum trying to send trade after trade, getting autocancelled near immediately, trying to get valuables to build up my trading groups and my collections, only to eventually get discouraged and give up even trying to get them through the free pets forum. sure the pound can give you rares but realistically what are the chances of getting anything that valuable from the pound? most people aren't able to sit there and wait until the exact second the pound opens for a smidge of a chance to get a rare pet from it. also, since we brought up ninjaing, dec 18 is the worst for ninjaing, plenty of people get scammed on dec 18. and more often than not people get less valuable species and i often see people complaining on that day because of that, as it really does nothing but hinder their trading groups, honestly. when you get a pet that isn't really sought after from dec 18 it's kinda just disappointing and it just sits in your group for years.

The free pets forum feels more optional than getting all the monthlies.
I've gotten plenty of rares from the pound.
Dec 18 comes with tons of warnings everywhere.

on my thread i linked i did mention that the monthly rare litters could have warnings when trading that month, similar to the dec 18 warnings. i do think that getting valuables from monthly rares, which are much easier to just adopt and wait and see what you get, is much more obtainable than trying to get them through things like the free pets forum. like i said, when i was new i would spend hours on those forums and honestly, it would just make me a bit depressed seeing the valuable pets i was trying to get go to users with already established trading groups and lots of valuable pets. it didn't feel fair to me and would make me upset, which is a bit silly to look back on, but still.

I am very interested in the option of getting the option of them appearing around once a month, otherwise I could pass away before getting anywhere near even half of all the Pets I need.

CS admins are very anti-transparency so I kinda doubt they'd warn us when a litter contains the possibility for a valuable pet lol

I feel like having more special release pets and the occasional rare outcome? As long as it's not like over the new very rare rarity (or previous rare rarity) I think that would be cool? I feel like the poll could use more options as I like both ideas ^^

Personally? My experience as a newbie of struggling for each and every pet felt rewarding. I won a then VR in a poetry contest. I got rares from quitting people by playing Free Rice and 'paying' for them in rice grains earned. I did a ton of pound stalking, and free pet trades that ultimately failed. None of that ever felt remotely as disheartening and stressful as missing an event or monthly rare on the luck of the draw, watching hoarders paying C$ for their 5th one in a thread where dozens of people all need the same pet, and the people who at random got 3 of them patrol around, rejecting trade after trade to see what the highest overpay they can get away with demanding turns out to be. Everything I experienced as a newbie felt like a rat race, but a fun rat race. What I experience with monthly and event pets that are hard to get? Makes me feel frustrated to be around the other people playing this game. Fundamentally, a different experience that has nothing to do with my time spent.

I also don't really want to subject new newbies to what I consider the greatest downside of the game, the thing most likely to drive them away, on a monthly basis. Older pets you don't have are already hard to get, that isn't changing if you miss one in a thread or pound. New high demand pets can rapidly become just as inaccessible as an old pet which puts time constraints in place in a way that doesn't exist for old pets as there isn't enough to go around to fulfill a sudden demand spike. I have watched so many friends try this game and ultimately 99% of them don't play it anymore. Trading experience factored into that. I watched one after another go into their first fest excited about an event, and come out of it with a lower opinion on the enjoyability of the game after experiencing how stressful those looming time constraints on getting pets while you can, that everyone else is after the exact same pets of at the exact same time, when they start to understand how hard the pet may be to get after the event ends. Sometimes this becomes the final time they play.

i fully support and encourage it. i think rare outcomes are really fun. i think another continuous outcome like the zebras would be cool, but i don't know.. i think rare monthlies are a bit more reasonable. and i think rare monthlies would help & encourage newer players to engage in the trading scene. i really like the idea of more special outcomes that are a different species, such as the zebras or lion outcomes we've gotten in the cat litters. or maybe some other sort of twist, throw a random species in a cat litter

No support for anything above extremely uncommon or possibly rare. I love Chicken Smoothie and have stayed for as long as I have because of how laid back it is. Everything else I play nowadays punishes players for not playing/logging in for a day (or days/weeks) (FFXIV, SSO, FR, etc...)
I love that I can just log in at the start of the month, adopt my pets, swap a few regular outcomes, and be done. It's so stress-free and that's what keeps me on this site.
