[★] Well, put simply, yaoi is usually a word used in the anime and manga regions as boy love. Yaoi doesn't necessarily mean that it only applies to manga and anime. Words that can also be used for this is boy love, slash [usually between two fictional characters; males] and the code for it is 801. Now, a lot of people have a big misconception for this. A lot of people, on this website and on many others deem yaoi fans to be stupid, perverted and not knowing anything, always squealing about it. This, for a fact is not true. We are actually quite intelligent, and just because we prefer to see a beautiful love between two men rather than a man and a woman, or a woman and a woman, and we show that, doesn't make us monsters of society. Being a fan of yaoi is nothing to be ashamed of. And sometimes, just because some fans prefer to funnel their love of it in more of a hyper way than others doesn't make them dumb. We tend to be looked down on, a big stereotype.
[★] If you're talking yaoi in manga and anime terms, it is usually created by female authors, but there are plenty of male yaoi authors out there as well.
